Fall Crankbaiting!
Oh no, I refuse to see the IPT listed in inches. I need to and demand to see it in centimeters. Come on, my fellow Americans, join the rest of the world and embrace the metric system! Lastly, for goodness sake, the video needs to be re-shot. The handle on the Revo is on the wrong side, lol. ?

Round vs low profile
Yup, rounds for the salt. I have my abu g ambassadeur and Shimano Cardiff 301a. because my Cardiff has a 5 point something ratio, I have used it ocassion when fishing crankbaits.

Love / Hate High Vis Yellow Braid
That is a great question and one thing about this that I probably should have clarified, I was describing a unique situation and therefore everyone will need to take into account their personal situations. For what I described, it was my drop shot situation in which I fish rip rap. I can get hung up 3 times in 10 minutes and have to break off so shorter leaders would suck. In this scenario, my max cast is maybe 40’ so 3 times is about 120’. I am also using fluoro. I am also a bank angler so I don’t have the luxury of having a boat to make shorter casts, so hence the longer than usual leader again to continue to fish longer expecting to break off frequently. I realized that when I used full fc line, the back half of the spool never got used or even saw the light of day. That meant I was wasting money. To address this, I filled most of the spool with mono and the top half with fc. The pros: * more of your line gets utilized instead of sitting on the spool doing nothing * your spool is closer to optimum capacity and you therefore take advantage of your reel’s intended functionality with regard to casting performance and line recovery specs. A reel with a line recovery of say 30” will not perform that way when the spool is not optimally filled. * the joining knot does not come into player until the leader is severely shortened next that translates more fishing time vs. time spent retying. So everyone’s situation will be different. I might need to think it through more thoroughly, but for Koz’s case, the purpose for the braid for him is for visibility so his leader can’t be too long or else he’ll only see the leader going into water. For the sake of argument let’s say Koz’s reel 150 yards of 12# test. I’d probably filled it with 75 yds of mono and full the rest with braid and top it off with a much shorter leader. I would have to experiment through trial and error to determine what would be a good length. So to answer your question about leader length it’s a maybe for 3 times the max cast, but twice the max cast is probably more practical, especially if break offs aren’t going to be frequent. To answer your question on filling the spool, I’d use a mono backing for the reasons I mentioned above.

“The wife is DONE.” That’s not a statement. That’s a command, lol. I missed this before responding. My wife was probably at 90% on the DONE meter with our dryer but I asked her to give me a chance to fix it. She was gracious enough to let me try, because I believe it would have been a double purchase. “Since we’re getting a new dryer, don’t you think we should also get a new washer?”? “Don’t you think” can be translated to “Let’s get...”

Flat Side Crank vs. Jerkbait/Slashbait
BobP pretty much nailed it. You wouldn’t be feeding redundancy, you’d be expanding your arsenal by adding a new weapon.

Dryer’s usually have simple repairs like replacing a belt or that piece whose name I forgot that starts the dryer. If you take the time to properly diagnose the issue, it might be cost effective to repair it. I am not a mechanical genius but last thanksgiving my dryer crapped out on me. My wife wanted to buy a new one but I didn’t really want spend that cash. Went to you tube for research, bought the needed part and did the rest and spent a mere fraction of what it might have cost to call in a technician or buy a new one. Your bait monkey ? asked asked me to speak to you on his behalf, lol. I hope the dryer didn’t fully crap out on you.

Round vs low profile
True in general about lighter lures. Good point!

Love / Hate High Vis Yellow Braid
As already mentioned, add a leader, mono or fluoro. I’d go with mono unless we’re talking ultra crystal clear water. It is more economical and it will mate well with braid. I’ve heard the “bad” experiences of people here about knot failures, which I’ve not yet experienced, but then again, it’s probably because when I do use a leader, its length is about 3 times my max cast. As a result, the joining knot is never exposed or at risk to break and the chances of the knot getting caught up in the guides is nil until my leader gets too short. That just means it’s time to change the leader. And with mono, my wallet won’t be hurting. Now 3 times a max cast might be too long for you to take advantage of using yellow braid’s visibility for you so you’re going to need to figure out a leader length best suited to your needs. Too long and you lose the advantage of the yellow color. Too short and the joining knot might come into play.

Round vs low profile
Round reels are cool and awesome. With that said, they will stand “taller” on the rod so for smaller hands they might not be a “palmable” if that is even a word. Other than that, go for it. You might want to bring your rod to the store your plan to buy it to see how it will work for you.

fixing eye insert an IROD Genesis 2
It might be easier to just replace it if it’s the top tip. I’d actually call them and ask them to send you one. In the mean time, you can buy a rod tip replacement kit so you can use the rod while waiting for it. I just replaced the tip of my UL rod and it was easy. I’m not a rod builder so if I say it’s easy, then anyone can do it.

River Fishing ?'s
I agree 100%. Spoon bites are vicious! Also, a tossed spinner propelled via the current fished how you described (vs chuck and wind) have also yielded strikes just as vicious. Brettsdaddy better hold on for dear life if he hooks into one like that, lol.

River Fishing ?'s
Aw, come on, don’t let that stop you from fishing, lol. If you have a med light powered rod, get some spoons, spinners and even floating rapalas. Bring some drop shot gear too. Many “bass” lures will catch trout too. Night crawlers rigged drop shot, Carolina rigged or with a float will not only catch trout, but other fish too. If allowed, those funny artificial baits like power bait dough and eggs will nail them too and with a simple Carolina rig. If you ask me, rainbow trout fight better than lmbs pound for pound anyway, and dare I say this as a bass angler. And I hear browns and brookies fight even better than rainbows. Hope you hook into a steelhead class rainbow. I guarantee you won’t remain bummed out. You’ll be holding on for dear life, lol. ?

New Sufix Advance?
Thanks. The mystery is afoot. Hopefully others who have also used it will chime in so we can get to the bottom of this.

New Sufix Advance?
Curly as is curls from memory? If so, and it is a monofilament nylon, that’s a given trait. Other than looking unsightly, fortunately, it shouldn’t affect longevity or strength of the line. Or, curls as in what happens to ribbon when you firmly rub it with a pair of scissors to make it curly? I would parallel the line roller to the scissors and the line to the ribbon. That might be a different case and probable concern. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Perhaps I’ll stick with siege and elite, if they’re still made, lol. I have not bought siege in a while because it’s hard to find locally.

What to do....
Kudos for doing the right thing. I hope the case they’re building will make your DNR plot a sting on him. Thankfully, because of his history he can’t pin it on you. You’re Scott free. ?

Popular Colors That Don't Produce for You!
Another awesome color pattern I love but has never produced, lol.

Popular Colors That Don't Produce for You!
I hear you and surprisingly, I’ve put the black and blue in water you described. It just means there were probably no bass there. I’ll keep at it because I really like how the black and blue combo looks and know it’s a great color combo. Catching a pb on it must have been sweet. ?

Popular Colors That Don't Produce for You!
First, let me say that I want it to work and wish it would work for me, and each time I see a big bass caught on a black and blue jig, it makes me want that even more but still kinda hurts, lol. I have even seen pics of bass caught in my state with it, but just not me. I will not, however, give up on it, and I’ll keep at even if I turn black and blue.

Found a few dead Bass fry
Perhaps a small algae bloom?

Is this Detrimental to a pond or lake ?
Check out your state's DNR page and download the fishing rules booklet/pamphlet. It is possible that such information is listed in there, but it could be subtle to find. If not, contact them via phone. It is incumbent, i.e., obligatory on us, the anglers, to know the rules. In WA State, this DNR is called the WDFW (Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife) and let me tell you, they don't skimp on any rule, regulation and and detail. They lay it all out. No ifs, ands, or buts. The rules might still be confusing, but it is laid out, lol.

Line spools slightly uneven.
Assuming no flaw in parts, try to recall if you spooled line in direct alignment with the spool of line. I noticed if I put on line with my rod and reel at an angle to either side, line might bunch up on one side. The more extreme the angle during spoiling the more pronounced the effect. this is just my experience and it might not be your case. It can even happen to me while fish when max/mega casts are used and you’re retrieving at an extreme angle relative to the line.

Toad reel?
Excellent. I had a similar experience when I first tried braid. Had zero knowledge about braid slipping. I thought I must have somehow broke the drag on my curado, and that was like over 10 years ago, lol. I’m seriously considering getting a KK casting reel and possibly a spinning reel too. Many of my reels are pushing 10 years in age or a little but they all work well. Casting Abu g round reel similar to a C4 or C4 with 2 brake shoes. 201sf (older greenie) curado d 101 and 201 trion by (1st gen - that beige colored old.) cardiff 301a spinning 2500 symetre (syme-what, lol) 20 sized rapala 6sxi 30 sized rapala 4sxi abu g cardinal, the one that weighs 6.95 oz a humble but functional arsenal

Toad reel?
I also think it's the tape. As for the backing of mono, if you wish to max on the braid, you will only need about 30' of mono to prevent the braid from slipping. Please report back as to your findings. Thanks.

Opinion on the best usage for this rod and reel setup
Treble lures and spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits, oh my!

Do you ever get used to split grips?
This is what I discovered about the split grip. It essentially feels like a full grip. You hand will be in contact with the top half of the split grip and neither hand would frequently touch the uncovered section, even with a two-handed cast. At least for me. With a two-handed cast, I noticed that with my bottom hand, only two fingers are used. Weird, lol! I am indifferent to either. Besides, the fish don't know nor care.
