Guten Abend - Hello from Germany
Wilkommen! Glad to see folks across the pond who who a passion for bass fishing. I used to live in Germany when I was young. Loved every minute there, and from my apartment, I could see the bitburger brewery. Those were the days.

My life lesson learned this year... don’t take fishing for granted
Thank you for your service and it’s a blessing to realize that while you’re still young. @frogflogger: you got that right. I will fish even if it’s only for 15 minutes. I call them “fishing stints” @desmobob agree with you almost 100%. Except love of fishing can change - positively of course! it can increase and grow ??

R.I.P. Guido Hibdon
Sorry to hear that. He’s a legend and a hero in my book. Ditto on what Gundog said.

Finished!
That looks sick! ? I like the pattern. Something about is visually pleasing and calming. Might even make me maintain focus while fishing.

How old?
You might want to consider a dock or the shore first, until you see what their attention level is like. Imagine setting up and preparing all that and then ten minutes into the boating activity, they're ready to go home (really young uns). Build from there.

Best two piece rod
Look to see if Shimano still has their 2-piece compre MH spinning rod. This is what I have, use and love. It can be used to drop shot and I know because drop shotting is one of my favorite techniques. I use it for just about every technique. T-rigs, senkos, crankbaits, you name it. It can do many things. It’s a utility rod at its best. Here’s the deal for me. I have some technique specific rods like my Lamiglas certified pro drop shot special. This rod is amazing. But, dang Nabbit, it’s a 7’ one-piece rod. So unless it’s weekend warrior time AND I know I won’t be doing something else after fishing, like meeting up with the wife afterward, my lovely one piece rods stay home and my 2-piece get the call 90% of the time. 7’ 2-piece M Cabelas mag touch casting rod 6’6” 2-piece MH Shimano Compre 7’ 2-piece Ultra-lightOkuma Celilo The cabelas and compre were about $100 MSRP but I got the Cabelas for $25 and the compre for $40. Once in a while Cabelas has their 50% off sale combined with $25 discount for something a I can’t recall. All I know was it was a score. The price on a compre was half off so it was about $50. It rang up for $40 some and change. I honestly told them that the price was incorrect and asked to have it verified. Manager confirmed the price. I would have bought more but there weren’t any left. Moral of the story is look for good deals because they’re out there and be honest. Karma can be a ...bear. These rods cover pretty what my fishing environment entails. I don’t think this would work where heavy cover rule but I don’t face that. Not only that, my rods have battled not only bass but trout and salmon. Utility defined. These are my trunk rods and they get the most play. If my rods were kids, I might be guilty of rod neglect. The gas station, of course lol. ?

Best two piece rod
Shimano makes two piece rods also. They are one of the best bangs for the buck. I also have a Cabelas brand 2-piece casting rod and it is one of my favorite rods. Unfortunately, I don’t think they make it anymore but I will presume their current two piece rods ought to serve you well. I have a corrolla so I know the drill and use 2-piece rods. Fo those who have suggested laying a seat down and lay the rod in the middle so as to go with a one piece rod, my corrolla can accommodate a 7’ rod so no doubt a Honda could too. Here is the thing that is the show stopper that necessitates a 2-piece rod. Just leave your car secured but unattended for whatever reason, like even using the restroom at a gas station. That is more than enough time for any thief or drug fiend to bust a window and steal it. So now you’ve lost your rod and reel if it were attached AND now you have to deal with a busted window and all the hassle that comes with it. I myself am so anal about it such that I won’t give them a visual chance. Yeah, they could still break into my car with rods unseen in the trunk, but at least I wasn’t advertising in plain sight.

If You Could Only Have 5 setups
1 7’ MH casting rod 1 7 Med casting rod 1 7’ med-mh spinning 1 7’ med light spinning 1 8.5’ to 9.5’ UL rod You can gather from this that I hardly ever face heavy cover which is why I didn’t add one to this line up. True for me too. However, since the OP asked for 5, I indulged. ?

Rod Pods for 15 Rods - Preparing for D-Day (moving)
One thing I can’t stand is seeing is my rods banging up on each other during transportation so if he didn’t already do this, I’d shield each rod I place in the tube with some type of plastic, foam or bubble wrap or other protective material. I’m just anal in that regard, But that’s just me lol

Line choice
Andes mono is excellent and it is usually well priced.

Cheap begginer casting combo
That is awesome and means it was a great and pleasant find. To the subject, a casting reel is just something you don’t want to skimp on. Many casting get decent performance and durability by the $100 mark at non sale price so if you can find them on sale as has already been recommended, you should be okay. I haven’t bought a casting reel since the battleship gray curado Ds, and that’s a testament to their longevity and durability and performance.

Physics Experiment?
The effect of friction on fishing line during the cast. Will its influence be significant in whether a line will cast well or poorly, or will its be the negligible.

SCHEDULE CHANGE! I'm going to be on the Hank Parker show!
That’s awesome! I don’t have those channels so I hope hank puts them on you tube too.

Fishing fathers
@Smalls My son was about that age when he started. He’d say he had one on as soon as the bait hit the water because he was practicing for the real deal. He practically didn’t catch any “solo” fish until he was about 7 and even then fish were few. The thing that amazed me was he never got frustrated not even once and he didn’t give up. It’s paid off since then. He’s 13 now and he’s gotten quite proficient at catching fish. It’s a wonderfully journey to accompany them on. I'm game for snacks right along with them. Moms a nutrition healthy type so maybe that’s why that liked coming with because it was their opportunity to eat junk food with a mom looking over their shoulder. Salad with mom (and they both won’t touch a salad with a 10’ fork) at the mall or Cheetos, other goodies and soda pop with Dad. Hmmmm.

Fishing fathers
Bring a ton of snacks that they like. That gets their attention when they’re not biting. My daughter is now 18 and she’s busy with other activities now but I think she’ll always like fishing. We differ on one thing however. I want my kids to outdo me in everything — fishing, sports, academics. It gives me a great joy when they do. We aren’t into hunting or shooting yet, but I’d like them to be better than me in that too.

Drop Shot Line Update : What's Yours ?
As a shore bound angler and one who drops shots horizontally as you state, 6# seahuar fluoro if I have it, or a limp 6# mono like xl or comparable line. This is my general starting point. I fish mostly rip rap and off of docks. But I will step up in line strength when I deem necessary but it would be done with a different set up. Unless you are fishing serious cover, I honestly don’t see the need to go above 8#, but do check your line’s condition more frequently than you normal.

Pflueger Supreme XT spinning reel
They probably meant the line roller as the reel ess suspects. It can be roughly seen as the part of a spinning reel that “guides” the line back onto the spool.

Rod Balance and Sensitivity
Goodness gracious, those rods look sick!!! Harkening back to my snowboard days with the use of the word sick, a good 20 years ago, lol. Beautiful work.
-
4 lb. line
Good advice so far. But how often do you check the condition of your line and more importantly, the knot? For me, when I use 4# mono, I go out of my way to check these two things more often usual. The main reason is 4# is on the really light side so after the knot is tied (and assuming the line is rated a true 4#) you will be at < 4# out the gate. The only reasons a line will break after 20 casts or so is because something weakened the line or the knot and casting, if done soundly with proper mechanics, would most likely not be the culprit for line breaking. I think using braid is a decent solution.

The ultimate best combos for the following techniques
No doubt, lol. With that said, I can’t contribute to this, but I will enjoy reading the input given by those who took the bait — treble, line, and count down rapala (hook, line and sinker), lol.

Flies On Spinning Gear?
Yup, the casting bubble.

Tackle storage
As a shore angler also, I bring what I think I’ll need it believe to be most effective that day. You know your fishing waters best and if you’ve fished them long enough you might just start seeing a pattern as to what lures might be more effective and time of year. It isn’t fool proof but it gives you a start. I can fit everything I need for shore fishing in a small BASS bag and 2-3 Plano containers that can fit inside it. Everything else is fluff and cumbersome, lol.

BPS stores
I bought my first curado bsf 201 from bps online because back then, the closest one was 1000 miles and two states away. Now there is one that opened up a mere 20 minutes away and a Cabelas 40 minutes. I haven’t even visited the bps yet. I probably wouldn’t buy anything if I went into one anyway, because I too much stuff. When that urge comes, I think bottom line... bottom line... I might want it, but I don’t need it. Yeah, it ticks off the bait monkey but oh well. I’m free market so I have no problem what they sell products for, bps or anyone else. Some will buy and some will not and that’s how it should be.
