  1. Until about 2002 i was all Loomis all the time, i thought they were the end all. And, they truly are great rods! Ive had a few IMX's and had a GLX SB rod and a GLX jig/worm rod. Both were great, but now that i have branched out i personally feel that the cumaras i have now are more sensitive and lighter that the GLX's and I like the powells i have just as much. Like mentioned before though, it all comes down to preference......but bait monkey wants STEEZ!
  2. daiwa procyons are excellent rods for the price range, very light very, very fast, and rally sensitive for thier price range, and they look good to boot! 49.99msrp
  3. shhh, dont tell anybody, but a 1/4 oz silver minnow with a ragetail shad trailer will H-A-M-M-E-R right over the top of submerged grass, vibration is crazy!
  4. 40 minutes away from Lake Martin, Logan Martin is farther north...
  5. Karu-football head as of late, 1/4 oz trailed with a net bait baby paca craw
  6. i guess i'll be the first to say powell, not ALL are XF, and from a sensitivity point they rival top of the Loomis IMO.
  7. Water color woll be very stained! find feeder creeks and fish the mouths, in october if the weather doesnt go crazy they should be not deeper than 10 feet and aggressive, chart cranks and suspending jerkbaits for your limit, spooks or sammys for schoolers, and have big bait on a Carolina rig for your big bite...i love Cooters pond!
  8. I like both the Team Daiwa S and the LT's, you really cant go wrong there for the $$ IMO, i do however suprisingly like the Allstar SR's, IM10 blanks with split grip handles that perform very well for 90$, i use the 7'2 jog and frog rod for jigs, tubes, and frogs in heavy cover, and the 7'2 m jerkbait rod for jerks, flukes, and 1/4 oz spinnerbaits
  9. Well Raul, what patterns consistently work for you down there in grande bass country?
  10. i just thought i'd start a thread for us to share our favorites, i know they'll be different based on geography and preference, but informative none the less. I'll start... Early spring (pre-spawn)- suspending jerkbaits on shelf and ledges 8-12 ft. deep, the good old rattling rouge and suspending x-rap were my best producers this year. the rogue hammered a 6.2 spot on Lake Martin in Late Feb. Spring (spawn)-weightless upside down t-rigged IKA int obedding areas, the float/drift into the bed draws awesome reaction strikes, and the tentacle action on the bottom can irritate big mammas into biting! pattern netted 2 6+'s on one trip to Lake Mitchell in late March. Late Spring (post spawn)-5 to 7 inch stick bait wacky rigged fish around submeresed cover and boat docks. caught bag after bag of big spots on martin and Jordan this year. *** trick sticks performed oh so well! Early summer-texas rigged worm on secondary points. 10 inch red shad berkley power worm is my big fish go to! landed a 9.2 from Yates lake on the first weekend of June mid-late summer-it gets hot so ya gotta get deep, or find current, this year i went for current. 1/2oz white &chart swim jig fished in 8-12 foot breaks in moving water around structure. early fall-generally im a BIG crankbait guy this time of year, but im stoked about swim baits for the shad run this fall. last year though the DT-10 was a big lb moneymaker on primary points 10-16 feet deep. late fall winter-cant fish from my tree stand! ......football head jig on deep rock structure with a paca craw trailer did well last year on big spots, as did a 7 inch zoom floater rigged on a shakey head. just some fun food for thought!
  11. ten inch berkley power worm, red shad if the water is very stained. large bream pattern spinnerbait, swim jig, or swimbait to match large natural forage, and a big jitterbug for low light/late evening.
  12. 1/2 oz Eaker Pearl football jig zoom big dead ringer 3/8oz t-rig 3/8 oz shakey head w/ zoom floating worm 3/8 oz drop shot rig w/ *** 5 inch trick stik 1oz swarming hornet
  13. yeah i have on, the 6'6 mh. i love it, i throw shallow cranks and lipless cranks on it, great rod, sensitive enough to throw worms and jigs on
  14. go to the ffo website, berkley series one crankabit rods were 50bucks not long ago if not you cant beat the lightning rod for under 50 bucks
  15. 6lb gamma fluoro on my spinning for stik baits, and 10lb fluoro on my casting
  16. rods YES! reels, not so much
  17. anyone used them, they look really good and the new split grips felt great playing around in the store, thinking of getting the 6'10 jig rod for swimming jigs, but ive never had a falcon...thoughts?
  18. ^^shhhhh!.....dont talk about the slider!
  19. for casting 7'0 mh shimano cumara daiwa zillion high speed 14lb gamma pro co-poly strike king bitsy bug 1/4oz w/ net bait baby paca craw trailer for flipping/pitching daiwa LT 7'6 H jig and frog rod daiwa 153hsta 40lb suffix braid lake fork tackle mega strike jig 1/2oz rage tail craw trailer
  20. 14x10 inch rubbermaid bins, and keep em in the original bags
  21. i'd go braid or heavy co-poly, to me flouro has a lil too much stretch for close quarters, the Nitro reels are made specifically to handle braid as well, throw some 50lb suffix on that piece!
  22. ive got 4 of the 153hsta's and i love em! to me they are better than the revo's for the $ and lighter and smoother than the curados i have, smooth as silk and stout to boot!
  23. checkout birminghambassclub.net
  24. i odnt roll the JDM's so i go in this order... 1-fuego 2-zillion 3-hsta
