Finicky Pond Bass
Take your trick worm put a dropshot hook in the meaty part of it and cast it out wacky style. That rig opens alot of lockjaws for me in lakes like the one your talking about. Long casts on 8 lb test help too

Fishing Courtesy
Learned the hard way....I now say that as well.I always say no. You have to anymore. Some people saw me catching a bunch of fish in my tourny last weekend and almost instantly I turned around and there were 6-7 boats around me. When I came in earlier I was the only boat around. So I had to fire up the big motor and drove right past all of them. Its sad what people will do to catch fish

The following conversation actually happened I hooked a little fish right by the boat and when I set the hook it flew in the air and landed on my buddy's lap. my buddy: "Brettleyx What did u do that for?" me: "Idk, i didnt really try to..." my buddy: "Well now my lap smells like fish" me: "You act like thats a bad thing" Oh and brettleyx (silent x) is just another one of my nicknames

Re: New members and post count
Idk I'm kinda with skillet. I never introduced myself like I probably should have... It's probably impossible but is there a way you could put like a sign or something that shows that that person hasnt made many posts yet? Like before the first five posts they have a little symbol for it? I'm not really good with computers so idk if thats even possible and I understand the issue with the post counts but i do like to welcome the newcomers even if they don't introduce themselves.

Here is what I'm thinking...
Wagn - another great post on this topic! I really hope some of the guys are reading this thread and learning alot from you guys. There is alot to learn from your two posts alone. Personally I think some people think unrealistically about sponsorships. If your good enough to have it happen to you thats great! But alot of times sponsorships are really hard to obtain, most guys don't have sponsors and have to pay out of pocket. Right now I'm one of those guys :'( lol. I know how hard it is to do, but when you're good enough the sponsors will come to you. It hardly ever happens the other way around. Like the NFL and college sports teams fishing companies use recruiters. These recruits can find you online or offline and what you say on forums such as this one make a big impression on them and you have to take that into consideration. Sure age is becoming a bigger factor in what sponsors are looking for every year but they want their anglers to be good at what they do for their age. If your 12 and only do as good as other 12 year olds there's a fat chance that you're gonna get sponsored, but if your 12 and winning alot in your age division you might get looked at by these recruiters. Hope this helps BTW - I like your new name "BIG DADDY COOL DIESEL"

Charlie Moore
...I don't watch that show for a reason I just don't wake up that early on weekends . But i'll roll out of bed for a tourny @ 1 am ;D.

Why is fishing more exciting than traditional sports?
I think its because the sport is always changing. nothing is ever cut and dry, the fish could be in one place one day and hitting one lure and the next day they could be doing something completely different. Thats why I find it exciting, its always a puzzle to me

Here is what I'm thinking...
lol ok, now it makes sense to me. Then its a really good analogy then. I was thinking like a sassafras tree lol

Here is what I'm thinking...
Tin - great job on summing things up But I think "not the brightest bulb on the tree" isn't a real great analogy. I would try "brightest lightbulb in the pack" or "even greenest leaf on the tree." I would suggest the first though I dont even think my 2nd one makes sense. lol But really great job on your post

Why? What for?
lol thats not a bad idea at all ;D

Why? What for?
Brian first of all I want to thank you for your service to our country! I can't thank people in the armed forces enough for that, its very much appreciated. But your right about the shotgun resumes, i have a basic format I have in this section that i have already made a whole bunch of changes too. But i'd have to say the sponsors I have are from relationships I have formed from fishing tournaments. I just think its a good idea to have one just in case a company does notice you, that way you can show them you took preparation and so that you have something to show them if they ask you for an interview. I think its also important not to force yourselves onto people by sending them a resume for no reason. But I will ask them politely if they are looking for people to endorse their product, and if they say no its cool too. A vast majority of the time though the sponsors that are looking for business are out recruiting themselves so theres really no need to beg them for sponsorship. And I know some of the people your taking about , but I must say before I knew much about the business I was guilty of it a few times too

Why? What for?
I do care who I'm sponsored by. I mean one sponsor just found me and I have heard of his product and I'm going to try it out and see how I like it. But if its for brand name lures or something and they want to sponsor me I'll probably take them up on the offer anyway. I really need to take as much burden off of myself as I can for buying products. Right now I can't honestly say I wouldn't turn a sponsor down if the deal was good enough. I'd still try my best to market their product the best I could and I'd give it a shot when I was fishing. But if it came down to catching fish or not I'd still fish with what I'm comfortable with

Pinkeye
really? didnt know that lol. must be one of those urban legends

Jet fleas
I heard about a guy that hit one in the chest (life vest) with a zara spook and set the hook nearly ripping him off the jet ski. I don't know if its true or not but i heard it from a reliable source and it happened a decade or two back, maybe even before I was born lol. Just figured it was a pertinent story to share on the thread

Potomac River goldfish
I was prefishing for a tournament last thursday in a shallow bay filled with weeds, drifting along just throwing a senko around since it was so hot out. I looked down into the water and saw something orange, and then realized that it was a tail. So i reached down with my net and scooped it up. When i dumped the contents of the net onto the top of my boat i realized I grabbed a goldfish that was almost 16 inches long and had to wiegh almost two pounds. Just goes to show you whenever you fish a big river system you'll never guess some of the things you'll see lol

Pinkeye
