  1. if you guys are plannin a tournaments count me in ;D
  2. lol you put that into better words than i did
  3. lol i have to say that is probably one of the worst fish to catch on a lucky craft, besides a musky or pike lol. I hope it didnt mark up your lure
  4. hey thats something i wouldnt mind lol. you could always go out after your meeting
  5. plus if you guys have never fished out of a boat, and since you have no boats of your own, your pretty much out of luck for these tournaments. for the most part your not gonna be able to do good against guys that have boats to fish in regularly because they have boat experience. things like boat control and the fact that they can prefish come into effect. i suggest its not worth it unless you get a boat of your own
  6. and btw i hate flukes 8-)
  7. Skip i would have to say the only jerkbaits i buy anymore are made by lucky craft. I have tried every other brand out there but i just dont get the same results, you can catch a fish at any time of year on these baits. They are expensive but they're worth it, as long as you are good at casting anyway lol
  8. I'm in the loyalhanna bassmasters in latrobe PA. We meet at keystone state park at 7:30 on the first wednesday of every month. Its 45 min south of pittsburgh. inbetween ligonier and greensburg on rt 30. We're really only 15 mins away from loyalhanna lake. If your interested go ahead and PM me
  9. To me i consider tournament fishing a sport while i consider pond fishing a hobby. Let's be honest, it doesnt take that much skill to catch a ton of fish in a pond. But in a tournament on a 100,000 acre lake trying to catch a 5 fish limit in an 8 hr time period that opens itself up to being a sport. just because of the difficulty of patterning the fish, doing your homework, and learning all the different bait types and techniques. It gets tough and thats why i consider tournament fishing a sport. Anyone can go out there and catch 20 fish in a pond, just like anyone can go out and hit a little ball all weekend and call it golfing. My bottom line is once you get competitive in fishing it turns into a sport
  10. color isnt really that hard, just remember to mimick the baits that live in the lake your fishing. If theres shad in the lake use white or silver. Since your in florida i'm pretty sure there are golden shiners in alot of the lakes down there and if there is you'll want to use golden lure that mimicks those baitfish. for baits on the bottom its really easy, junebug works well in florida but green pumpkin works everywhere. use bait colors that look natural to you, and often it will look natural to the fish as well. For off colored water use chartuese firetiger red or black though. Use black in the darkest of water with chartuese red and firetiger in slightly stained water, for hard baits atleast
  11. theres no need to worry about putting too much thrust on an aluminum. My buddy has the same setup you do and although it gets difficult to control on the higher settings it gets you across the lake quickly and the slowest settings are perfect. Remember your foot doesnt always have to be on the pedal
  12. dot let him fool you, its not all tubes tubes tubes up here. I did great this year on jerkbaits and sammies. But everyone does use tubes.... lol
  13. I just turned 19 a few weeks ago and havenever been concerned with getting sponsers. I always put fishing first, but in this off season (ice on all my lakes) i did make a resume and post it on this site. I'm not expecting to get any responses or sponsers out of it but i figure it wouldnt hurt to try either. I mean my fishing skills have gotten me really far for my age and i'm hoping the sponsors are just gonna take care of themselves in a couple years or so. I made Mid-Atlantic Divisonals for the state of PA this past year and thats just 2 steps away from the classic
  14. My Background My Name is Brett Tryon, I just turned 19 years old. My grandfather taught me to start fishing at the age of two, and at the age of 5 I knew I wanted to be a professional BASS Fisherman. I started teaching myself the sport at the age of 12 when my mom would drop me off at ponds to fish, here I learned many new techniques but it wasn't enough for me. So back in 2004 I joined the Loyalhanna Bassmasters, the guys in that club have taught me more than I ever could imagine about the sport of bass fishing. I'm still on the quest for knowledge about the sport every day and I try to share everything I have learned along the way. Here in Western Pennsylvania lakes are small and hard to come by leading to intense competition for spots during tournaments. There aren't many limits brought in up here even for the best of the local fishermen. I have been fortunate to grow as a bass fisherman under these conditions, it has taught me to adapt to changing conditions. My ability to adapt, I think, is why I continually win more and more tournaments every year. In every tournament I go to I fish at a level of 110% effort and since I started using my boat last year things have been getting easier and easier for me. Contact information: Brett Tryon bdTryon0@frostburg.edu or reply to this post Mission: To promote youth in fishing and to become a professional angler myself by increasing my knowledge through larger tournaments. On the path to professionalism in fishing I will promote all Sponsors future and present and upon doing so will endorse their products at the best of my ability. I share my knowledge with anglers worldwide currently and will continue to do so in the future by teaching seminars and by taking youths under my wing to teach them the fundamentals, ethics, and sportsmanship in bass fishing. Conservation is also a large topic I promote, in my mind it is one of the biggest problems facing society today. Goal: To become a professional Angler on the BASS tournament trail What I can do for my Sponsor: I can attend shows and/or teach seminars in my local area at their discretion. Plaster their product and logos all over my Tournament shirts, vehicle, boat, and personal websites. Fish any tournaments and/or related events they ask of me, within reasonable boundaries. Throw in good words for them via word of mouth to potential buyers of their products. But it mostly comes down to what my sponsor wants me to do gets done, under reasonable boundaries.
