  1. rattle traps, shakeyheads, and jigs
  2. no hester is right. theres probably a forage base you just dont notice. drop in a minnow trap one night and see what comes up in it the next morning. but throw a greeen pumpkin wacky worm. you will catch so many fish it'll be unreal
  3. i just completed the survey and i am very glad to help out.
  4. I'm in college right now and if i misspell a word on my paper and one of my professors notices you pretty much lose 10 pts. it kinda sucks, but it makes me look more at my word choices lol. if you cant spell the word dont use it. i tend to type sponser* instead of sponsor* sometimes though
  5. I'm not either. You just have to remember the fish are somewhere. in ponds its usually a point or some kind of offshore structure. i usually use baits to get reaction strikes, but late winter and early winter are some of my best times
  6. I caught 35 fish just in january ;D Only went out like 8 days
  7. there are plenty of clubs all over pa try www.pabassfederation.com
  8. I think in my first tournament i didnt catch any at lake erie... but my 2nd tourny i won! lol I was 15 at the time. I'm glad to say this past year i never zeroed for a tournament
  9. that fish was caught off a point (half the lake was still covered in ice), i've caught fish like that coming off trees as well. its mostly a rocky lake but i catch fish off stumps and trees doing the same thing. I use a 3/4 ounce footbal head jig in a crawfish lookin color. It was a decent sized pond, the owner runs a ski boat on it in the summer and he has plenty of room to drive. acre-wise i'd have to say atleast 30 to atmost 50. The shakey-jig looks like a real producer lol. i might have to try it during spring break next week.
  10. anytime, up here all the smallies will school up in about ten feet in the rivers and i catch them on small jerkbaits. in the lakes i use bigger deeper diving jerkbaits and shakeyhead worms for my bigger smallies. but then again up here their the most prevalent species
  11. lol idk if its because i just got done with h.w but i didnt understand a word you just said. but i'll go fishing w. you
  12. yes welcome, and get used to seeing smallies
  13. lol i'm sorry i did! i never even thought of it i do use a black spinnerbait as well sometimes with a #5 wide willowleaf and a smaller colorado. That bait catches some big fish!! I caught my lunker on that baby
  14. i use the diawas alot it depends on what you want to use it for really. if you want a nice cheaper rod to put it on try the bass pro shops series, i use them alot. a 6'6" medium heavy for jerkbaits and a 6'6" medium for crankbaits. you can also use the 6'6" MH for soft plastics too!
  15. there are only 3 baits for this type of situation. a dark colored jig a black neon tube some kind of colored rattle trap

  17. late winter and fall are my fav time to fish!! i absolutley knock them dead!! Try shakey head worms on harder bottom lakes and in weedy lakes try a 1/2 red super spot. last year i made 25 casts to the same spot and caught 22 different fish. jigs also produce in the dead of winter make sure with both the shakey head and jig to crawl it really slow for example
  18. i dont like them either. but they are good for ledge fishing
  19. i have tried almost every single jerkbait on the market and i would have to say the best i've seen are the lucky crafts. no matter which one you buy you will always catch fish on it. my fav colors are american shad and purple pack with white sides. they may cost 15 $ a piece, but trust me its an investment thats worth it in the long run
  20. alot of times they'll sit on shoals and ledges too! and they sit around weeds the same as smallies but try to fish a little deeper. these fish like access to deeper water. I read somewhere about hair jigs? try those you're supposed to let it fall and once it hits the ground lift your rod tip up and let it fall in a pendulum. i tried it last year for a couple casts and i actually got a few bites on it, it'll prob work better down in tennessee tho
  21. I'll fish for bragging rights. I'm sure i'll be up around raystown a couple times this year. And if you guys are talking about fishing the mon.... the ohio produced more for me last year. and the allegheny is a cess pool unless you know exactly where the schools are. At the southside regional last year i came in 9th. everyone above me was on a school of fish up the allegheny like 2-3 pools up i think i heard. but i got ninth with 2 fish.... out of atleast 150 people
