  1. ditto and try a wacky worm in small ponds where you can inbetween pockets of weeds
  2. Lol i'm trying to do the same thing! except since we dont have a club here at frostburg i'm workin my way up through the state. I'm halfway there but the next half is the more difficult part lol
  3. I agree with LBH I use whatever hook thats on sale and my hooks never gave out and I don't usually miss fish unless its my fault. I use the stock hooks on my crankbaits, and i hook fish. It's as simple as that. It's the same thing with lure brands (in soft plastics anyway), its not the brand its the size shape and color of the lure your using. I do think color has somewhat of an effect, but its more the basic color than the actual color. A lure with blue fleck is just as good as the same lure without blue fleck in my opinion. Hard lures such as jerkbaits, crankbaits, and topwaters can sometimes be a brand thing because every brand has a different unique action. Idk I may be overthinking it now lol
  4. I have faith in you, the fishings not too bad. the rivers should be doing good right about now. i might go launch at speers next weekend
  5. lol that woulda been me but i had to get up and unwinterize my boat anyway. so i just went out after
  6. today wasnt bad, it could have been alot better... I hooked into something huge and it just came off, I think i might have foul hooked a carp. but it took off and my drag was screaming then it just wasnt there lol. It was a nice adrenaline rush though
  7. yeah the water def. got colder this week than it was last week. it was a lil bit of a tougher bite today. I went to the same pond i went last week and the fish moved back into deeper water and alot of times they just tapped my lure. I did get a few vicious strikes though
  8. and I coulda sworn it would of been a prefishing fish from loyalhanna lol. there are alot of nice fish in that lake
  9. no a guy from your club Adam Straub said I could use his name on my app. I love the potomac! i can't wait for that tourny, i never fished it in April though
  10. thank you LBH ;D
  11. look for the cotton cordell super spots!!!
  12. Amen to that! Esp the part about the rattletraps
  13. too bad I'm not very lucky
  14. I was out a few times and been killin em at some local ponds And BASS I know where you were silly, you were fishing Loyalhanna lake getting ready for your tourny this weekend
  15. yeah i agree but you dont need logos to look professional. I have a club shirt that looks very professional without any logos on it and alot of guys are the same way. I agree with where you're coming from Flippin
  16. try fishing flats with brightly color crankbaits now like red rattletraps and blue and chartuese crankbaits if the bottom of the lake is mud. If the lake bottom is rocky try a shakey head worm in green pumpkin (zoom makes good worms for this) with a 1/8 to 1/4 ounce wieght. When summer rolls around try fishing that same worm on a wacky rig around weeds. Problem solved! ;D lol
  17. I find it hard to believe that you've never lost a lure to a pike. lol I'm not saying that you're a liar. I respect you and know you catch fish. I thought I was a fast hooksetter on spinnerbaits so I don't think thats the problem--They just suck it in all the way. When I set the hook...weightless...nada Could it be that floro doesn't have stretch and I'm better off with mono? lol I never said i never lost a lure to a pike more muskie, it has happened. More often than not though i get the fish to the boat atleast. If i lose a lure its usually a really small lure. I could just be lucky and set the hook right. Idk i guess i should have said i never usually have problems lol. I can't say anything about mono vs. flouro though i use both and i like them both
  18. I've never hade problems with pike and muskie? I catch them all the time on my bass gear. Every year i catch a tiger muskie almost 3 1/2 to 4 ft long and I bring them up to the boat? I catch them on mono. tube jigs spinnerbaits jerkbaits chatterbaits and crankbaits. Maybe you should try faster hooksets? lol
  19. because of my dads work he can pick up marine batteries that didn't work or didn't fit a piece of equipment he fixes. I generally use those for my boat because there is a good supply of them for me. by the time i need new batteries theres a new set for me. Any free set is a good set to me! I change the batteries whenever the charge they hold gets weak over an 8 hr period of fishing. I understand when I run them down alot, but i mean when I couldnt have used that much charge for the time i've been on the TM.
  20. browns/greens then black and blue
  21. yes i have, i always hope for the best but some days i know i'm only gonna get 1-2 bites. i only get that feeling if its been really cold and the water turns muddy or the lake level rises significantly. Some days i get that feeling though and I hammer them. I think its more a personal mood than it has anything to do with the fishing however
  22. I agree Low budget. It makes a guy look nice, but what really matters isnt what you wear. it's if you catch fish, and besides why would a sponser pay you when you're already doing it for free?
  23. I fish state tournaments, club tournaments, and some local tournaments. I'm trying to move up and maybe fish some bassmaster weekend series but I really dont like the lakes they pick for the northeastern division. I might try and fish the division that hits virginia but I'm gonna see how far I can get with states first. But I'm really busy with tournaments in the summer and during the week I fish ponds inbetween working with friends just to practice my hooksets and other tactical issues
