  1. lol i've had a boat since i was 16. i got a job found a nice used boat in the paper and put a down payment on it. now its all paid off and i drive around my dads old blazer lol. everything worked out
  2. lol the great lakes smallies are huge, and we got some big smallies in PA if you guys want to fish for some big smallies, at raystown this year i caught 3 of em over 6 lbs! of course they were all caught on the same weekend in the same spot lol. But i caught many more over 3 there this year
  3. that too lol
  4. I dont have any digital pictures of it, nor is it a largemouth I dont know my PB for largemouth its around 9 lbs though caught on a tube in 20 ft of water in early spring My Smallie PB was a massive 6.8 lber (wieghed on a rapala scale) caught on a zoom finesse worm on a 1/4 ounce jighead fishing a ledge in mid april in a snow storm, prefishing for a tournament Idk the length either
  5. it all depends on whats in your contract, when you get one read it carefully
  6. I'm the exact same way, i won't eat or drink anything while I'm fishing. Prefishing or tournaments. I might drink something prefishing but thats about it, when i'm fun fishing i dont eat or drink at all either. I come back o the launch ramp parched and hungry at the end of a long hot day lol
  7. lol true usually things are really small and easy to fix, but the boat mechanics wont tell you that though. my dad and I have gone through alot with that boat and it keeps on running beautifully. I have seen big engine problems happen to people, i hope that never happens to my boat though lol
  8. Idk i know it was mentioned before in this post but i'm quite partial to the potomac
  9. ditto, fish what your comfortable with
  10. thats true, i'm sure my boats ok lol. i always check it before i go out. my dad and i winterize it ourselves and my dads a mechanic and if anything goes wrong it doesnt take long to solve
  11. lol i think i'll wait a few weekends for the boat and take advantage of the prespawn bit on the local ponds. the action should be heating up soon, its alwaysa good way to dust off the skills after winter
  12. lucky craft jerkbaits green pumpkin tube white spinnerbait red lipless crankbait and thats all you really need
  13. smallmouth tend to school up more than largemouth do too. I think largemouth just tend to live near each other sometimes when theres alot of food and cover, schooling up occuring during certain times of the year of course, times like winter and the spawn and just in certain lakes. Smallmouth are a schooling fish and alot of times when you hook one you can almost bet that there are more close by, i've had plenty of times where a pod of fish would follow my bait in or where two or three smallies would chase a hooked fish.
  14. smallie: dont apologize lol tis no problem fishn: Who fishes for trout anymore?
  15. well i caught my first ten on a red rattle trap it was crazy i caught ten in my first 30 mins there. Then i lost that when a fish took it under a tree, it musta been a bad angle. Then i switched to a clue and chartuese manns 4- and caught the rest on that. I was fishing a couple flats and places where I know the fish stage when they're getting ready to spawn with a couple straglers just randomly around the lake. It was muddy so the water temp was up to 50 i'd guess. it was a blast until it started raining lol. oh well i stayed and got soaked it was worth it
  16. rattle traps, spinnerbaits, and manns crankbaits for early spring and nothing beats a smithwick rattlin rogue for spring time when the water heats up a little bit
  17. lol of course you can!!!! i fish places for largemouth and catch smallmouth and sometimes when i'm fishing for smallies i'll catch a largemouth. They will hit the same lures, tubes, jigs, spinnerbaits, you don't even need to change the size of the lures. So don't worry about buying any new tackle, just go catch some fish
  18. yeah those fish arent bad for this time of year. if you have any smallmouth around you try fishin for them. I always have better luck targeting smallmouth in colder water than i do largemouth! p.s. if you think rapalas are the best you obviously havent tried a lucky craft lol ;D
  19. i live in Pa and i am surrounded by northern strain largemouth, and they bite extremely well! I went to Fla last summer and i did notice that to catch the fish down there its better to slow down than to fish fast with a spinnerbait or something of that sort. my friend did break off a double digit bass on one of my homemade spinnerbaits, but other than that i caught 4x as many fish as him fishing soft plastic creature baits. i never thought about it until i read this thread but now that i think about it theres some proof lol
  20. lol dont worry i'm sure we'll get a chance to meet up and hit some spots in the summer, i'll go to your spots and i'll take you to some of my best ponds. or vice versa we'll go out
  21. I didnt know he had a tv show!! I never have time to watch tv anymore, basically i watched the football games and some cartoons at night but other than that its been study all week and work, girlfriend, and fishing on the weekends (the later being the highest on the to do list lol).
