Tourney nightmare
Yeah we'll be launching from mattawoman creek, thats in the tidal zone it just isnt affected as much as say the susquehanna flats. Its going to be the PA Federation Nation tournament Mr. Bass. I've only fished there a couple times but everytime i have its been in the middle of summer, i can't wait to try april. But mattawoman is close to D.C. I do fish the upper portions of the potomac and they are astounding for smallmouth!

Another newbie but experienced bass fisherman.
welcome! lol and the ribbing comment reminded me of the skit where Lewis Black says we should replace weathermen with chimps, because if its wrong all we can do is shrug our shoulders and say, "Oh well, weathermans a chimp." The root of all evil isnt as good as I thought it would be though :-/

Dead fish avatars
I was wanted to stop by and say that LBH does make a good point. Granted I have killed a fish or two here and there. One averaged sized fish for a mount and a couple that didn't make it through tournaments (it doesn't happen that often I try my ver best to keep them alive). The mount looks great and now that I have one I won't be needing any more . but the fish that are accidentally killed in tournaments always get used the right way, never wasted. I hate when people waste their dead fish, it just hits a nerve with me.

What are your fishing STRENGTHS?
Lol i think i've fallen in a few times, and i've definetly hooked myself more than once. Yup i do believe those can be considered weaknesses for me! ;D

You may be addicted to bass fishing if ???!!!
Or in Tin's case, there doesn't even have to be water! He just looks at the land and says "Imagine if we flooded that?!" ;D That's hardcore. I can't even say anything, i do that too

how to start catching bass?
And for your plastics question, a plastic can be reused many times until its action is hindered or its basically falling off your hook. For worms I'll even bite the heads off if the head of the worm gets ripped up from my hook. but they generally last for a couple fish until you lose the lure or it gets ripped off your hook. For me its barely ever a one fish deal. For other plastics however they may be easier to lose. For tubes a big thing is the head gets all ripped apart and you cant use it after it gets ripped up too much, and the same goes for creature baits and lizards. But if you get creative you can make them last longer. For the topwater frogs i melt the heads back together alot, one because their expensive and two because with the ribbits its a harder plastic and it works well. I hope this answers your question

Drop shot questions
I like your spirit! But hey if the hook of the rig is getting caught on stuff try using a longer leader, i generally use about 10 to 12 inches on mine as well

Tourney nightmare
"I am sure you guys in Ohio and Penna will have some good fishing in August when the snow and ice melt." - Sam Yeah it takes awhile, seems like it lasts until august anyway lol

Drop shot questions
i use both spinnerbaits and dropshot rigs in shallow water. I'm not being mean but i think you may be over analyzing a tad too much. Basically with a dropshot rig you want to cast it out and shake it, stopping occassionally to let it fall or quiver. I catch fish in less than 6 ft with it pretty often. Spinnerbaits are just awesome around weeds in less than 6 ft as well. A lure is a tool of the trade just like your fishing rod or reel. Except with fishing lures there's no real wrong way to use them unless you tell yourself there is. I know people that use dd 22's in ten feet of water just to kick up mud, and it works. I just don't want to see you limit yourself, if you can imagine it go ahead and try it. its one of the beautiful things about fishing!

What are your fishing STRENGTHS?
I think my strengths are fishing fast with jerkbaits and spinnerbaits, reading a new body of water, and fishing structure with soft plastics.

Questions about smallmouth
fishizzle went to school for fisheries and wildlife biology ask him, hes a knowledgable guy. And the rocks and boulders would help the largemouth fishery too!
-
Questions about smallmouth
They will eat bluegill, and smallmouth and largemouth share the same kinds of cover. I wouldn't worry about taking the largemouth out. there are probably crawfish there and you don't even know it. Maybe stock some creek chubs and shad maybe but i'd say just go ahead and throw the smallies in there. make sure its deep enough for em though

Tourney nightmare

Observations and Questions on Pro Bass fishing....Yeah, im being negative
columbia makes some good ones, you can get them at bass pro shops. The powder blue is my favorite

Would someone please turn off the faucet?
That can't stop you from fishing, just throw on some goretex or a coat. Sometimes the best fishing is when its raining
