  1. I still find myself getting pretty ticked. I fish very emotionally with a number of highs and lows, the most extreme come on tournament days. At best I am singing as a run a bank. At worst I will hold my tongue cause of the things that I may say. Momma always said If you ain't got nothing good to say don't say nothing at all Mottfia
  2. Hey guys, I need some ideas from everyone, and any idea is much appreciative. My club have a few sponsorships from various companies. The companies are great to us and don't ask much out beside a few events. But we want to show that we can carry a larger load to build a reputation for ourselves and our sponsors. So I'm here trying to generate ideas to bring a better name to our sponsors and ourselves; events, methods, etc We are a college team that is new to this game and are willing to experment with a few ideas. None of what we are trying to do is required in our agreement but as I said before we feel that we can do more. Give me all you've got guys. Thank you, Mottfia
  3. Very Nice fish. How large is this pond that you are working with? Mottfia
  4. You know I should keep count like this one day. I suppose if I had ,about 50 % would be on spinnerbaits. Mottfia
  5. Been there, done that, got the shirt. I wish I would have known about that cause I had to cut a DD22 hook out of my finger with a knife. Maybe that way will be a little easier Mottfia
  6. They are still there. The fish just aren't as active. Lake of depth or oxygen in deep water keeps the fish shallow. This forces them to deal with excess heat. In order to bare with prolonged exposure to heat they have to be inactive for much of the day. Koopa has the right idea. You can frog to pads or toss worms to the bottom of the pads. Alot of it would depend on how thick they are. Your best chance to catch em is to find them early and late. You can even fish over night. Basically low light periods are the best. rainy days can be awesome. Also look out at the middle of the pond for bream. I have on occasion saw bream swirling in the middle of the pond and caught some solid bass by swimming a jig out there. Find the bait, find the bass Mottfia
  7. I can say that the fishing is different this summer. Not so much to the point that I will say that the fish are setting up different or aren't sure about whats going on. In my case I have found them in the typical locations for summer. The only difference being that the bite was on for a longer period of time and a little shallower. I think the extra rain and cooler weather helped that. I'm hoping to get an idea of how yall think when it comes to fishing reserviors. Being a river rat I have spent the most of my times learning about river fish movements and I'm looking to see how they compare to reservior fishing. Thank You, Mottfia
  8. That would be cool to see. 50 ft shelf 2-3ft deep then boom deep water. Now I'm a river rat so our conditions are different but I think I can help some cause we have bluff wall and shelfs. First I'd like to say that Bassin Finatic hit the nail on the head. I would try different presentations but don't get too complicated cause that can get confusing. If I was in the same location, I would fish pretty fast with a lure that gets to the depth you think the fish are at. I take the deep to shallow casting approach. I look for baitfish, a change in the shelf ( shallower, deeper, a cut or point on the shelf, or some cover) Generally if you find a good concentration of fish one will slip up and hit the lure no matter the angle. After that you can change your angle and presentation to refine your tactic. if you don't like fishing fast, you an still find those different looking areas and pound them as Bassin Finatic said and you should do well. Good luck Mottfia
  9. I kind of see where you're going with that TNHiker44. You make a good point but in my mind I see it alittle different. To be able to get to the level that the elites are at you have to practice alot or years. Just hitting the lake on the weekend doesn't cut it here. You have to be out there almost daily. So how would they fund fishing just about everyday? Family money? I'm sure that a few of the guys can do that but not many. Sponsors and tournaments are my answers. The sponsors pay you to get out there and make a name for their product. You dont' make money fishing everyday...unless you are fishing tournaments which our losing investments much of the time...especially early in your career. So they will keep you going if you can help them. If you build a reputuation as a great angler then the sponsors can really help you get to the next level but without them an average guy like me wouldn't have a chance. So in my train of thought, everyone but the overly rich would have to learn to handle sponsors in order to succeed on the top level. Mottfia
  10. Nice fish. Are they normally that hard to catch? Mottfia
  11. The girl has a nose for the fish. Catch em early, sleep threw the slow part of the day and catch em late. Now thats strategy...oh yea how old is she. If she is already throwing a baitcaster she has a great learning curve. Congrats! Mottfia
  12. Ha thats crazy. I'd hate to have been the guy that lost it. His day must have sucked. I bet he's at home talking about the monster fish that took his rod Mottfia
  13. Thats awesome. A jig is a tough cookie to figure out for alot of people so consider yourself ahead of the game here. Congrats and let us know how the next trip goes Mottfia
  14. Buddy that sounds tough. Power trim is going out...well going up but not down. If its a short I can't be of much help but I have had something similar happen before. If it has a leak, busted seal, or is low on fluid it can do the same thing. Is the motor making any noise when you hit the switch. If so then add more fluid and look for cracks in the pipe leading from the power trim canister and check the seal at the top of the canister. if it isn't making a sound then you definitely have a short or busted switch ( had that happen once or twice). If its the switch then you can simply change that switch. If I have my thought process right, you can get an instrument to check if the wires have any electrical current going threw them but if you're not used to working with wire then I'd take it to the shop and they will correct the problem. I hope I've been of some help. and I hope you find the bigger ones next time Mottfia
  15. Hey Guys, The Fall transition is coming up and I wanted to know how everyone goes about getting ready and finding fish during this part of the year. Mottfia
  16. hey guys, I'm a little slow on posting this cause of school but I had to tell yall about last weekend. My partner and I had been getting the itch to hit the lake for nearly two weeks. With school starting up we have had to put it on hold...until last weekend. One of our friends invited us to her lake near the Gump and we couldn't turn it down. We load the whole crew up and head out, 5 guys 5 girls. We knew it was gonna be fun just not this much fun. On the first cast, my partner catches a 6 lbers. We celebrate and have a freak out moment cause that was also his first spinnerbait fish. We then proceed to catch nearly 60 fish...almost all within 30 yards of the pier which was the only large piece of cover in the pond. Everyone was catching fish and having fun. The owner got word of us catching em and he came out to see how things were going. I talk to him for awhile tell him about how great the pond is. He tells me that there was a bad die off 5 years ago and he didn't think the fishing was this good and hadn't fished it in awhile. He'll probably be doing more of it soon cause as I'm talking to him I slam into a pig. After a few minutes of running up and down the bank we finally get her in. She's without a doubt the largest fish I've ever caught. Around 8 lbs. and it came off of a finesse worm on a light weight carolina rig. ;D We got a few pics and let her go. Sorry that I don't have them. My partner's gf has the pics and they are on facebook for anyone that is computer sabby. It was a great day where you could catch fish on any lure. We are definitely making another trip there real soon. Thanks for listening Mottfia

  19. Hey Welcome to the Forum Tom. Mottfia
  20. Great report. The pictures really give great detail to what your looking at. One question tho. Where did you find the graph for pressure and temp? Mottfia
  21. 3/0 or 4/0 have done me just fine on similar frogs. Mottfia
  22. haha alot of those fish look like they came from Lake Martin, Alabama. just about all of them are that thin. I think Paul wins the ugliest fish ever award. I think I threw up alittle when I saw that. lol Mottfia
  23. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. I plan on visiting more states when I get out of college Mottfia
  24. Congrats, that awesome. How'd you catch em? Mottfia
  25. Greta advice from everyone. if I was in your situation, I would have to say " Heck yea that boat will do". If you're fishing then you're doing fine. Money wise, make sure that you can afford the boat, gas, oil, insurance, and another payments that may arise. Secondly with that size motor, learn to fish a small area hard. You must really learn which areas in a small place hold fish. Ex. the points in a creek arm. You don't have the run and gun power of bigger boats so stay local and pound out the close holes. Also they release fish from those marinas and those fish will stay in that area until they recover...sometimes they don't leave so you can find fish that replenish sometimes like that. Mottfia
