Way to go UPS 2.0
I have had half of the rods I mailed ordered broken before they were recieved. What I find interesting is if you order direct from St. Criox they hire a messenger service to deliver, maybe this tells you something.

Problem w/ St Croix Legend Elite
I would find this unacceptable. Are you sure you spoke to someone in their warranty department. I have always found their customer service to be world class.

eagle claw lazer sharp trebles?
I can tell you what sold me on Owner hooks. A few years back I had the chance to fish in Mexico for them nasty Mexican Bass. I went down with Gammie hooks and was breaking them. At lunch I asked the guide what gives and he recommended Owner hooks. I bought some at their tackle shop and never went back. I guess the proof is in the pudding. If it works for you then swear by it.

Jig differences.
IMHO I do not believe that a football jig is only for use in rocky areas. For the most part they excell when a dragging method is required. I also use on clay and sparse weedy bottoms as long as I can drag through I will use them.

Question about fishing standing timber
I really do not know the answer to this question but I fish Lake Shelbyville in Central Illinois which was flooded and dedicated in 1970. Some of my best fishing days have been around flooded timber in 15-25 foot of water. These old trees are so rotten that some only stick up a foot or two out of the water at normal summer pool. I'd say you have a good 20-30 years before this is any concern, if any.

ATTN; TEAM PAMPERS>>WHEN LIFE WAS REAL
In Chicago we did not play stickball but what we called Strikeout. Played with two man teams, one pitcher and one outfielder/ infielder. It was fast pitch with a rubber ball always played in the school ground. Backstop was the wall of the school. We would have tournaments and played for hours.

Info on Daiwa Bait Casters
I have a Zillion and a Revo STX. As most I had trouble setting the drag on the Revo but with the Zillion none whatsoever. I really do not know the differance between the two but I have never a problem with the Zillion. Also have a Browning and JM SIgnature with the magnetic dual brakes. The Zillion was much easier to set then those also. IMO you may discover the same.

River Smallies
There is another hole around the bend that lacks rocks but does have a sand bottom. I plan on working this hole also. there is a slightly shallower hole just before this hole where another river which has a muck bottom dumps into it. Did not locate anything there. The water temperature is roughly 50-58 degrees so I am sure they are in a transitional period.

River Smallies
We found a hole about 12-16 feet deep that held some smallies and walleye with rock structure. Flow is not too fast. Visiblity is about 1-2 feet. Caught a 26 and 28 inch walleye and a few smallies on crankbaits running about 10 feet. I am sure this holds more smallies and probably bigger that the 12 inch fish we caught. Was thinking about a C-Rig Tube to search but was wondering if anyone else has ideas. We will hit this hole Sunday so input would be appreciated.

A couple basic questions about soft plastics and slower presentations
By my experience it depends on the Bass and what they perfer. As an example I threw a Brush Hog under a weedy dock which I was sure held a Bass cast after cast to no avail. Changed up to a Senko and on the first cast a 4 pounder hit it. Maybe the shape or maybe the sink rate? Sometimes they will tell you what they want.
