  1. Thanks SV100! I bookmark the site for future reference.
  2. Hi LBH, Do you mean a clear metal primer? Why not white? Can't wait until you post detail on this mod.
  3. Forgive me if my English was not clear. The laughing matter is not how or way the boat get unloaded or loaded but rather with the prospect you landing a 170 lbs monster (me in the water). Saw one too many AFV video on this subject. SV1000, not at all, out van is a 05 Odyssey . When we first pickup the boat we have a hard loading it into the van. We have a hard time lifting it onto the sawhorse. Where it is now. Wilson, perhaps one day I will get a trailer for it. Maybe, after I'm done pimping it out. I will post the picture of the dolly when I'm done building it. Thanks all!
  4. Small trailer is not an option because my $27K van does not have a trailer attachment. Cost too much to put one in now.
  5. Thanks all for your input. I will go with option #2 for better weight distribution even if it is not as convenience as option #1. Thanks, Sang
  6. LBH, Should I be worry about the stress on the transom with the following design? I will be in the front push down the ramp is okay I think. But pulling up the ramp worry me. I just don't know how strong is the transom.
  7. Surfer ... This is not for road travel, but just for backing down the ramp by hand? Yes, my plan was to park the car, unload the load with every things in it and roll it down the lake. Remove the dolly and put it on the boat. This way I will have the dolly with me on the way back. I agreed with you about the balance idea. True, the boat will be easier to roll around if it is balanced. LBH, Ramp = boat launch ramp for people with trailer. why cant you lift out of minivan, put 1/2 in water and then load gear? Because I don't want people to laugh at me. :-[ Will, if I lift from the front or the back of the boat and try to put that half into the water. I'm afraid that I might be in the water too. The loading ramp where I like to fish is very steep. The angle is about 30 - 40 degree incline. I saw people having a hard time with their truck getting out when the boat is wet. "There is a guy at our lake that has those wheels" are you talking about the first one?
  8. Option #2. Dolly system from castlecraft. Stable but not convenient once I'm in the water. if you have other idea please share them with me. I would like to take her out on a maiden voyage this weekend. Thanks all.
  9. Hi, I need your help and idea on a dolly system. The boat will be transport by a minivan to a boat ramp. It is too heavy with all the equipment in it. I was of some kind of dolly system to roll it down the ramp and into the water. Here are the two options I came up so far. 1. wheel system attached to the transom. Very convenient but stress on the transom. Should I be?
  10. Do you have a model number on that cover? Thanks!
  11. Any picture? Did you remove all the paint?
  12. hey is a nice one.... http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/boa/618804043.html
  13. Don't know if you already found this site but here it is anyway ... http://www.castlecraft.com/canoe_stabilizer.htm I think one can do a diy for much less.
  14. a quick search on Boston.craigslist.org return this.... http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/boa/618102793.html Inflatable is not bad if you don't have a mean to transport a large boat. However, if you can transport them get the widest boat you can buy.
  15. HAHAHAHA That is just too much! LOL!
  16. Nice Job! Great detail photos!
  17. one again thanks! Just remember that I'm taking tomorrow off because of Good Friday. So, I will call them before I go. Is that a bluefish you holding? They give you the best fight lbs per lbs.
  18. Thanks LBH! You read my mind! I planning to remove the camo paint off my little Jon.
  19. any vessell that you are adding a gas or battery motor has to be registered.... That's why I went the Tracker route because I have no clue where my history of origin certificate for my canoe is... so I figured... go buy a boat..lol... let me know if you need more info.. I was in Fall River yesterday doing all of that... -FishinGirl Thanks for the conformation! I'm north of Boston, so I'll paid the Boston DMV a visit tomorrow. I hope they will be okay with just a bill of sale. Good luck, Sang
  20. How about adding the 2" or 3" foam on the outside of the starboard and port of the boat? Effectively making you Jon a 36" or 38" wide. This will give you more weight capacity and Increase Stability. I think you can paint those foam too. Tyler, thanks for the PM. Just add water... My thought exactly the foam is to reduce the decking weight. If my boat were to go under the last thing I wanted to depend on is the decking. Just my 2 cents! Again, I have not take her out. So, all my research and planning may go out the window when time come to do the mod in the fall.
  21. Thanks VA! I don't have a spot in the bow to mount the TM but I will do a DIY like the "Jon Boat Trolling Motor Bracket" at the Calela's website. Sorry, I still can't post link yet. Sang
  22. Welcome to BR! Sorry, I don't have any answer to your question but I have a question for you. I got a 12' Jon boat with a TM. Do you have to register the boat? Thanks
  23. Yes, please pm me the pictures. Did I get this wrong? Add foam under the deck help with the stability? or it is just to reduce the decking frame weight? I'm new to Jon boat so please forgive me if my questions are old. I'm going to use it for 1 season and mod it in the fall. Using LBH as a model.
  24. Hi BassHound, If you only one TM, where is the best place to put the TM? I can see more control if you put it on the bow. Do you loss a lot of speed if you mount it on the bow vs the stern?
