Hard time finding Yozuri Ultra Soft
BPS does carry it but not online. I have seen it in the Charlotte NC store before.

KVD Strikes again!! Buy Strike King stock NO
Yeah, KVD has been one of Strike King's heavy hitters for a while now, along with Brauer, Bill Dance and a few others. There are many pro's that have cranks/topwaters made specifically for them that never even hit the market. They call them "prototypes".

BPS...
Burley, the same thing happened to me on the 2 Fritts 4.7's I ordered while they were on sale. I called them today after receiving my letter and asked them what was up and let them know that I was a little mad because they arent on sale anymore and if I wanted them now, I'd have to pay full price (whenever they get them in) well, the lady I spoke with contacted customer service and I got those 2 ordered again for the Father's Day sale price. May be worth a try. Just tell them that you only ordered them because they were on sale and see if they will do it for you. It worked for me.

When all else fails...
I would first ask myself why I am fishing during the daytime. At this point, the boat would be loaded onto the trailer, seriously.....then I would possibly go back that night. If you are fishing the same time, same place as the prior day, obviously something has changed or you just hooked every fish in the area. You should be able to pick up on your pattern falling apart pretty quick and make your switch according to what has changed (current, weather, whatever) The fish probably havent gone very far but anything weather related could have moved them deeper or if you lost your current, the fish are probably not positioned like they were when you were hammering on them. I would first figure out what changed, then go from there.

Heavy Set Up
The St Croix/Daiwa set-ups you have in mind sound like good combinations. I have a Revo STX sitting on a Kistler Helium HE70HC that I use for jigs and frogs. The Helium is extra sensitive, super-lightweight with plenty of backbone. Its a very versatile set-up.

"Pacman" Jones
Pac Man Jones is a thug, plain and simple. And so are his buddy's that keep shootin' everything up. I hope they do ban him forever, then he can really go and "thug out" and nobody will have to hear about it.

Gear ratio for crankbaits
The Fritts reel that I use is 21" IPT (4.7:1)
-
Gear ratio for crankbaits
I used a 3.8 Curado until it broke down then I moved up just a little into the 4 range....obviously the 3.8 is really slow but if you can get one for $60 bucks, I'd at least try it out. If you dont like it, trade it for something in the 4 range....there's always somebody somewhere looking for an old green Curado.

Reel Grips
I like 'em and use them on every reel I own. I wish they would've had them on sale when I decided to leave BPS with a basket full of them when they first came out. ;D

Gear ratio for crankbaits
All my deep cranks are winched in with a 4.7:1 reel. I throw deep cranks alot and sometimes all day long. The slower gear ratio really helps the fatigue factor and I have a better bite ratio with a slower geared reel. If you're serious about crankin' deep, I would at least give one a try. It will feel really weird at first but give it a chance, you'll be glad you did. I use the David Fritts crankin' reel (4.7:1) for all deep cranks....it doesnt have the instant anti-reverse like all the newer reels because its a true crankbait reel....you can use a little play in the handle once a big one jumps on your crankbait, trust me.

Buzzbaits not working
I might if they ever stop plastering the Pop-R ;D

Buzzbaits not working
When you throw the buzz, are fish breaking the surface around you? Are there shad popping on the surface? You just cant blindly throw a buzz and be effective with it....just like every other bait, it has its time and place. The reasons you cant get bit could be color, size, retrieve, time of day, where you fish it, just anything like that. Bass are picky and just beacuse you think they should eat a bait does not mean they will. When I throw a buzz I like a little chop on the water and low light conditions. And if bass are busting shad, I will throw a Pop-R or something that imitates a dying shad, I wont be burning a buzz across their heads. Not saying it wont work but I believe a popper type would work better in that situation.

SPEED BASS
Interesting, but how many places back would it pay? If you only had 10 boats and paid one place and the winner limits in 30 minutes, the tournament is over and the other 9 boats are essentially fishing for nothing. How would they know that the tournament was over and they could go home? Or do they just show up at the dock 8 hours later to see the scales and tournament directors be long gone? That may be a decent idea for a 100 boat tournament that paid 10 or more spots but for small t's it probably wouldnt work.

What Lures To Have Always Ready?
Def agree with spinning, you can't go wrong with any of those 3. Casting, I'd put a frog on one of them, especially for the summer Good call bj, as I re-read his post I see he's in Florida.....I'd go with a frog also instead of the cb or sb.

BASS and Triton
Yeah, my club fishes night tournaments from June to August too. I highly doubt B.A.S.S. would ever have a night tournament.....too much liability there. Would be better for the anglers though, probably alot better fishing and little to no boat traffic.

What topwater?
If I'm looking to cover some water quickly or when fishing wood, I'll have the buzzbait on. In super clear water where I need an extra long cast, or to cover a point or hump, I throw the Spook. If there are shad present on or near the surface I throw the popper or prop bait.
