Paper tournaments are a real good idea as long as everybody trusts everybody. Its sad that a paper type tournament would never work for BASS or FLW.

We kept stats in a club I was in quite a few years back. We had approximately 20-22 teams during those years and 10 fish limits in each tournament,8 tournaments a year. We averaged just about 3 dead per tournament which is good.....not perfect but good considering there was a possibility of us bringing in 200 fish PER tournament. The actual # was more like 120-170 per tournament and the death rates always increased as the water temps got warmer, with summer obviously being the worst for dead fish. The 200 boat fields you see now will have a drastically higher death rate than a small club obviously.
  4. I'd take Chuck Liddell standing with a pro boxer any day of the week. If he lands solid with either hand its lights out for the poor boxer. That punk Mayweather wants to fight Sean Sherk..... ;D He might want to rethink that one......Sherk will take some of Mayweather's little punches to get the takedown, then its game on! Bend him up, feed him some elbows, tap him out. Boxing is circling the drain....sad but true. Has anyone heard about Vince McMahon trying to buy into the UFC? I hope that doesnt happen because he'll try to fake it up like wrestling.
  5. senile, every now and then something is posted that involves catch and release either directly or indirectly and people like to take a "public" stand on their beliefs....you've been here long enough to see a few of them. That particular thread was getting repetitive to the point that nothing "new" could be said and once a thread goes stale like that, thats usually when "the arrows fly", as you say.....and the C&R debate goes on all the time. Some are for it, some are not.....neither is wrong and neither side can WIN. EDIT: Dangit Glenn, you obviously type faster than me.
  6. Sorry to hear that LBH..... :'( R.I.P.

When Sherk slams him on the mat, Mayweather will be screaming for mercy.
  8. This horse has been dead for awhile now.....
  9. This can be anything bass fishing related. I guess my favorite part would be when I pitch to a target and I feel that heavy THUMP!
  10. Most productive summer structure??.....anything I can bump with a DD22
  11. It is THE CAPRICORN....XTC's I think (orange colors here and there). Regular price is $149.99 on sale for $79.99......seems like a great deal.
  12. Just looking for some opinions on these. Dick's has them on sale for $79.99 right now and I may pick up a few.....I just cant pass up a deal no matter what brand it is!
  13. I use a Pflueger Supreme spinning reel (8035Mg) and a 6'10" G-Blank medium rod. Very light and sensitive set-up for just over $200. You can buy new Supreme Mg spinning reels on eBay nowadays for around $80 bucks.
  14. I dont know, a few of the fish shook loose after being hit with my Helium XH Flippin rod.....within 15-20 ft of the boat.
  15. Forgot to add in the first reply.....WELCOME TO THE FORUM! My very first pice of boating advice would be to WEAR YOUR LIFE-JACKET!! As far as driving your new boat, most of that knowledge will come with time behind the wheel. All boats handle different so we really cant "tell" you how to drive it. There are a few things that may help though: When getting up on plane, have your motor trimmed down. The lower the better, especially when loaded with people and fish (livewells full). Once on plane, start your trim slowly and let it tach up slowly.....then continue trimming until you hit the sweet spot. Be sure to watch your water pressure and tach as you are trimming up. If your water pressure drops below say 10, your prop is trimmed too high and is not getting proper pressure which can lead to overheating. Taching the motor over the recommended rpm will lead to engine damage also, so find out what WOT (wide open throttle) is for your motor and dont exceed it. Hope this helps you some but my fingers are tired from typing.....have fun and be safe. And wear your life jacket!
  16. This is how I launch by myself: In the staging area I remove back straps, motor toter and PUT PLUG IN. When its my turn on the ramp, I back into the water just far enough that my rope will reach a cleat on the dock. I tie the rope to the cleat then unhook the front of the boat. Then I back the boat in and stop quickly to "pop" the boat off the trailer. Be sure to observe how far your trailer is in the water when it comes off. (This will help you when you load it) Once your boat is clear of the trailer, park your vehicle and you're ready to go. This is how I load by myself: I tie the boat to the dock (obviously) and back the trailer into the water deep enough to get all the bunks wet. (<---This helps if you have to hand-crank it) I then pull up until I get to the usual spot on the trailer where my boat will slide on and up easily, all the way to the hook. This is where you need to remember how far your trailer was in the water when it came off. That point should be close enough to get the boat up on the trailer pretty much most of the way so if you have to crank it up at all, it wont be very much. Your boat will load easier if you line it up straight as possible when driving on the trailer. Once you hit the hook, trim your motor up, get out, hook it up and lock it down. At that point, if there are others waiting, pull up the ramp slowly and out of the next guys way.......and while pulling up the ramp, watch your mirrors to make sure the boat is moving with you and is not sliding off the trailer. Once out of everyone's way, pull the plug, put the back straps on, secure the motor and off you go. And one thing I never do is unhook the front of the boat before the back of the boat is in the water.
  17. I dont have a problem with the lighter weight SR's.....it's the Magnums that are giving me trouble. It could be the heavier head causing the problem.
  18. WOW! That last one is a real HAWG man! I see the black Terminator is still in effect....way to go Craw!!
  19. Is that the new shad swim you've been working on? I'll definitely be needing a few of those. Excellent fishing Matt!! Let us know when that shad hits the market if it hasnt already.
  20. Will the flippin and pitchin video include baitcast equipment ?
  21. Metallica
  22. RedlineRobert is going to need you to add some comma's and zero's to those figures ..... ;D Seriously though, if you divide up $350 on 2 combos you'll be looking at about $85 -$90 per rod and same per reel. You can find All Star rods in that price range and some mid-level casting and spinning reels. You can get some good deals at BPS on combo's these days and if I had $350, that would be where I'd look first. You should be able to get 2 good combo's with that.
  23. Correct. He wasnt banned, he chose to leave on his own.
  24. Just someone who was only here for a short time and was a self proclaimed outdoors writer and in his view, quite possibly the best bass fisherman on earth......you arent missing anything. Really. If he ever comes back and starts posting again, you'll be able to tell who it is without any of us pointing him out.
  25. I like the looks of the FinTechs and the Nuckle Balls. I like the full open gap on the nuckleball. I'll give them a try and hope in the meantime that Buckeye starts making a wide gap spot remover magnum. Thanks for the links.
