  1. I've been having trouble with the longer tails on the BoogieBait....thats all the fish will grab is the tails. I watched 3 or 4 fish roll out on it and on hookset the bait comes flying back without any tails. I had to switch trailers to a shorter one just so the fish could grab the hook. The length of the tails seems like a big deal here lately. One day longer is fine, next day you gotta go short.
  2. Yep, he could've thrown his kicker back on the final day and still won the thing.
  3. dodgeguy, I have some similar to those but they are totally different than the spot removers. The hookerz shakey heads dont give you the stand-up presentation as the Spot Remover does......they are totally different heads and I'm not using little shakey worms with the SR's. In my opinion, the Spot Removers need a wide gap hook as an option, especially when using thicker baits (beavers, brush hogs and other creature baits)
  4. I've been using the Spot Remover Magnums the last few times out and especially Saturday during my club tournament I lost 4 fish in a row with the Magnums. It was "hookset" then "fish jumps and spits hook". Anybody else having trouble? I really like the Magnums but I am puzzled at why they shake out so easily. Caught 3 with the Magnums today and lost 2 due to the head shake. I switched to a regular jig and the hook-ups were solid and I had no losses after that. I give the Magnums a big 'ol ...... :-?
  5. How big was the big one Burley?? Come on man, details?
  6. I have two of the 8035's and I like 'em real well. Drags are like silk and they are feather light. Pretty slick reels in my opinion.
  7. Yeah I see some that look like torpedo's. Talk about smokin' your reel.....
  8. Burley, come down to Smith if you want some great carp action.....they are EVERYWHERE.....big ones! Every tree is full of them. They sure are fun to catch and a great way to test a reel's drag system.
  9. I left some info out just because of the length of the story. When I was first talking with them they said the biggest largemouth they had shocked yesterday was just over 22" and the biggest smallmouth was right around 20". I believe they actually only recorded any bass over 16". They had quite a stack of pages recorded and had been shocking for 6 hours when I saw them at 4pm.
  10. The fishing is heating up quick here in Virginia so I headed out yesteday after work to see what I could do. I was mainly cruising along pretty quick looking for beds and just throwing a crankbait around. Caught a couple decent fish and a few dinks in the midst of looking for beds. I noticed lots of small bass holding on the tops of laydowns but most of these fish were 12" or less. Anyway, I head back into this cove in one of the major creeks about mid-lake. This cove is full of laydowns and i started down the shaded bank. I threw my LC crank over a couple of laydowns and caught one that was about 7" long. I throw over the next laydown and was threading my crankbait thru the brush and WHAM! a good fish smashes it, goes straight back into the tree and immediately breaks me off....it happened so fast I didnt have a prayer with this fish. I was a little ticked about my $15 LC I had lost so I just took a deep breath, grabbed another rod and kept going. Coming out of the cove I see this funky looking jon boat with a couple of metal rods hanging off the front and a couple of guys scooping up fish around the boat with nets. It was the Game Commission SHOCK boat. I went over and started talking to them and watched them for a few minutes. Then I asked the guy if he was planning on shocking the cove I just came from and he said "yep, thats where we're headed". I told him that a bass had just broke me off in a tree and I'd like to get my crankbait back and see how big the fish was.....he said sure and asked which tree it was so I pointed it out and they headed straight for it, lowered the rods into the water and within about 30 seconds, fish started popping up everywhere, including the fish that broke me off with a nice shiny LC stuck in its mouth. One of the net guys scooped her up,measured it then got my LC back and threw it to me. The fish was 21" and full of eggs and they estimated it to be 6.5# or a little over. All in all it was a decent 4 hour trip. I saw lots of signs that the spawn is starting and with the full moon tonight, it should pull some fish up. Its definitely a good time to be a fisherman.
  11. #5 shad rap 5" senko (green pumpkin or watermelon red) 7" Power Bait worm zoom finesse worm on spot remover soon to be added to the panic box are the new Power Bait shakey worms
  12. They are trained to fight until they either hear the bell or the ref pulls 'em off. Extra punches on someone thats down/out happens quite frequently. I can tell you that if I had Cro Cop on the mat....I'd make sure he wouldnt get back up. I'd be willing to bet thats what Gonzaga was thinking too. As far as the lucky part....I dont agree with that. If you watch the replay in slow mo, it clearly shows what happened. Gonzaga knew he was throwing a head kick....Cro Cop DIDN'T.....he thought it was a body kick, dropped his arms down to protect his ribs and BAM! NAP TIME! Cro Cop made a mistake and he paid for it.....there are no excuses. Gonzaga vs. Couture will be a great fight. Randy even said that he would rather fight Cro Cop.

Thats an easy fix. Just take the spool off, open the bail and put the spool back on. That used to happen to me on a regular basis.
  15. Good post flechero.....and Vic, if you're looking for a nice custom split grip rod, talk to flechero, he makes some killer rods. I saw one or two of them at Fork and they were sweet.
  16. He doesnt have JUST the foot.....he's got the whole rabbit. ;D Thats a good 'un Chris!
  17. No kidding. His leg and ankle will be hurting tomorrow. Along with his head. That head kick landed clean and was rock solid, probably one of the best ones I've ever seen.....BAM!! Lights out!!
  18. Thanks for the knowledge everyone. I have ordered a few things and will be getting started next week sometime.
  19. No joke. There wouldnt be a single DT left at any Meiers store that was close by.
  20. Sounds like a good time was had by all! Congrats on the win NEEDEMP and yes, the bass rarely spit out anything Power Bait.
  21. I'd try Alka Selzer for fizz. Just break it up, cut a slit in your bait and jam it in there. The Alka Selzer will probably work better in the morning after the bass have been out drinking all night and need a hangover remedy.
  22. Fishing right at the boat ramps is probably not the best place. There is lots of oil and gas in the water near them and lots of boats in and out like you said. If there are fish hanging around there, they are probably real skittish. Night time may be a better choice.
  23. Can a brother get a hair-piece around here? I'll trade some Lucky Crafts for a good one! Let me know.... thanks, Cue Ball
  24. UFC 70 is over with and Cro Cop got knocked out cold by a head kick in the first round.....how ironic is that? Gonzaga had him on the mat pretty much the whole first round but the action got stale and the ref stood them up. Shortly after standing up Gonzaga caught him with a SOLID head kick that instantly folded Cro Cop up like a cheap tent. And he was out for a while. Gonzaga will now fight the champ, Randy Couture for the title. The Bisping fight was pretty good....he was really pumped, got floored by a knee to the head but worked thru that and eventually won by ref stoppage in the 2nd. The Arlovski fight was a real snoozer. I'm glad this one was free.
  25. You know I only fish in the wind....cuz my hair digs it ;D ;D Good fish man!
