  1. Thats a good'un man, nice job.....especially with the 8# string!
  2. I use the American Rodsmiths glass rods.....my favorite is the DF76. Awesome deep crankin' rod....around $90 bucks.
  3. LBH with a BAITCASTER?? Did I read that correctly? Way to go Russ! Nice fish you got there!
  4. Here's the ultimate senko thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 Check it out, you'll probably find your answer there.
  5. Sweet looking Champ you got there! And you'll really appreciate that Optimax when you go for long runs across the lake. Be safe.
  6. In a small creek its definitely best to wade upstream and make long casts whenever possible. If you spook any fish, just get in a good spot and be real still for a few minutes.....they will most likely come back when they think the threat is gone. And the Tiny Torpedo suggestion is a good one, sometimes they'll blast it all day long. When they dont, I like a watermelon or green pumpkin straight tail worm. (ZOOM finesse or Power Bait Shaky worm) on a small spot remover head.
  7. Whats the story with these being discontinued? I must have missed that somewhere. I've had decent luck with them so far....good thing I have several bags left.
  8. Wow, what a question Matt! I deep crank alot and I guess I never have asked myself that question.....and I really wouldnt know unless I had underwater footage to back it. My guess would be that a fish hitting from below would zero in on the front, or more likely the middle of the bait, causing it to be hooked with the front treble. A trailing bass would seem more likely be hooked on the back treble. If its hooked with both, who really knows what happened. :-? Good question.
  9. Why then can I check a ledge or drop and no fish be there, then come back an hour or two later and they are there? There are several humps that I fish in the summertime that hold the fish at certain times and other times they are gone.....not only have I seen this with my electronics, I've seen this with an Aqua-Vu camera.
  10. Thats good advice also because bass do move in and out of spots throughout the day and night. I'm not real patient like that but if the bites are just close enough to keep me interested, I will stay. If they dont happen quick enough for my liking, I will run to other spots and check back on previous spots throughout the day or night. I like to keep it movin'.
  11. I see you got the night bite goin'.....those are some good'uns!
  12. Take a look at this thread.... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 I'm pretty sure every senko question you could think of is in that thread. Enjoy! And welcome to the forum by the way!
  13. Its against the rules in B.A.S.S. competition, nets are legal in FLW. I think it should be the anglers choice no matter which tour he fishes.
  14. Without good electronics you are at a disadvantage from the get-go. Usually a "spot" will have something on it like rocks, brush, a ledge etc....this is what attracts the baitfish and in turn brings the bass in also. You could drag a carolina rig around and try to find these things on the bottom or a deep diving crank that will dig along the bottom and bump potential targets. Thats about the only way to do it unless you want to buy a graph or an underwater camera....or diving gear. Generally if I know fish are holding on a "spot", I will use what should be working according to the time of year, weather, water color etc.....if I dont get bit with say a crankbait, I'll switch to a worm, then to a jig, then a spinnerbait, just to cover the whole water column over that spot. After I've covered the spot with a few different lures and dont get bit, I'm out. Once you figure out a solid pattern, you'll spend less time fishing each spot.
  15. I agree with LBH. The foam grips look cheap. I see more and more of the foam grips around though. Alot of the pros are using foam grips now on certain rods.....mainly spinning rods. My guess would be that the foam may be lighter (if so, not by much) and the foam grips might be a little more comfortable than cork. I'm sure they could make some foam grips that look like cork....would that work for you LBH? ;D I noticed a skeleton reel seat in that TackleTour report.....I'll be looking closely at those. I like the skeleton seats on my G Blank rods, it allows constant contact with the blank.
  16. I heard about these too. They are supposed to be more price friendly....except for the Premier. I hope these do as well as the first Revo's they put out.
  17. In stained water I like a rattle but not one with an overpowering rattle, I like that one at night.

I think you may be confusing two different things. You're talking about Red Man which is now FLW and saying that you have to be B.A.S.S. affiliated. . Correct, the Red Man was separate but back then the Red Man Series is what everyone wanted to fish, at least around here. I was just referring to a former place in time, when both BASS and Red Man were thriving, not that they were the same. Sorry for that confusion.
  19. The VMC Sure Set treble hooks rock! Thats about the only VMC hooks I use.

6 man wasnt started last year, its actually been going on ever since I can remember....even back in the Red Man Series days. The way its done in Virginia is that if you finish in the Top 6 in your club (via point system, total weight, total fish or whatever), you qualify to be on the 6 man team. Usually the top 3 in your club go to the 6 man tournament as boaters, #'s 4-6 go as non-boaters. At the 6 man tournament, you are paired with boaters and non-boaters from your region that made the 6 man thru their club. Your club has to be affiliated with B.A.S.S. Federation Nation to be eligible for the 6 man tournament.
  21. You may want to PM senko77 or Randall. Both of those guys have carved some pretty awesome swims recently. Actually if you do a search, I believe senko77 had a thread going with tips and progress pics.
  22. You may want to check out this thread....its the "Senko FAQ's".....that should provide you plenty of options and opinions. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 Enjoy!
  23. Excellent video KU! Good music too!
