  1. Yes, thats one of the most common 'knocks' against fiberglass rods.....big and usually heavy. I have a 7'6" American Rodsmiths glass crankin rod that looks like a pool stick but handles about like a halfway cooked noodle. Thats the way I want it.

  3. You'll be in good shape unless he takes all of his buddies to your spots. What are you supposed to do? You paid money to enter a tourney that has draw co-boaters, not give it your best shot, and fish waters that are unfamilar. How would you approach not fishing your best water for fear of someone else using it in the future? Matt Matt, I wasnt suggesting to avoid good water because I dont do that. If I am on fish, thats where I go. I dont practice for nothing. That said, its not real unusual for nonboaters to visit spots they fished with previous boaters during tournaments.

  5. I throw deep cranks and cranks in general alot. I also use fiberglass rods.....I wouldnt consider using anything but fiberglass for cranks. Its a confidence thing for me because I'm a firm believer that the softness of glass rods keep my hooks where they need to be when the bass makes a run at/under/around the boat. I use a 7'6" glass rod for all deep cranks. 6' and 6'6" for the shallower cranks.
  6. Good job men! Bustin' a big sack like that is awesome! People dont believe that the DD22 is a killer at night......let 'em keep thinking that! Didnt think you had enough huh? Funny you say that......there's something about fishing at night that the bass seem smaller, last night tournament I fished I underestimated by about 4 pounds and ended up winning. (All on DD22) Again, great bag and a fat check too!
  7. I fish what I had planned out.
  8. Dude must have one heck of a left nostril! ;D
  9. One of my old fishing partners (Tim Ambler) just won the Co-Angler side of the James River BFL last month. He had 4 fish for 13-1....his boater had 0 bass for 0-00
  10. The largemouth on the frog.......Dean Rojas would be so proud! Way to go guys! Looks like the lower James is doing a whole lot better than the upper James where I am.
  11. BASS wont be bringing anything back. ESPN may bring something back in the future but not BASS. The 4 Majors per year (which were no entry fee events) really put a hurtin' on ESPN's pocketbook (yeah right) and I just dont see how they can make it any further having to pay out $250,000 for each one. : Pretty weak if you ask me. Way to go ESPN.
  12. Good 'ol boy and Classic champ Boyd Duckett busted a 13-9 bag today to take home the big check at the last Major that will ever be fished. "Frogman" Rojas started the day with the lead but fell short by weighing only 3 fish today. Jason Quinn moved up to 2nd and KVD had the big bass of the day at 4-4.
  13. After removing the hook, I'd throw her in the livewell for a little while to perk back up, then a little later I'd do the pics and measurements.
  14. COUTURE WINS!!! Herb Dean had to pull him off.
  15. Burley, me and you are cool but dont be crackin' on my boy Fritts! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  16. I was thinking Carolina Skiff also. They have multiple styles and sizes and I'm sure you could find something that would cover all your bases. My boss bought one which he uses in fresh and saltwater and it does well in either one, plus has plenty of room for extra people and is pretty stable in the water. He fishes for anything that swims....stripers, bass, crappie, tuna, sharks, flounder and the boat handles it all. And after just a little haggling with the dealer, he got a 4 stroke 150 upgrade for $1,000.
  17. So far..... Cote beat Kendall (ref stoppage) Joe Stevenson won over Pelligrino (unanimous decision) Huerta over Crane (ref stoppage) GSP over Koscheck (decision, GSP dominated, Koschecks biggest injury is mat burn on his back if that tells you anything)
  18. If I had to spend only $30 extra bucks to get a Minn Kota, I'd do it. I currently have a Motorguide and even though its fixed now, right out of the box it was the biggest piece of junk I had ever seen or owned. The almighty Gator Mount stripped immediately and the speed relay didn't work. (If I set the speed on 3, it might run on 5, set it on 5, it might run on 2.....I just never knew what it was going to do) I have owned both brands at different times on different boats and Minn Kota beat Motorguide every time. And the one BIG THING that in my opinion sets Minn Kota apart from MG's is that the MK's are super quiet. That cant be said about any MG I 've ever owned. Fish KNEW I was coming with the MG's. A quiet trolling motor is a must.

If I am dragging a jig along the bottom I always want a heavier jig that will hug the bottom and kick up some mud. If I'm pitching jigs around specific targets, I'll go with a lighter jig because of the slower fall. If I am trying to penetrate cover or am fishing deep water I'll use a heavier jig. It all depends on what YOU plan on doing with them.
  20. Does anyone know who has a good deal on the Falcon Cara rods? I'm looking to get a couple of the spinning rods.
  21. Both of the DSG's near me (in Roanoke) dont even carry the Avid's....they just have a few SC Premiers.
  22. I know the kids are glad to have Russ on their side. The whole C.A.S.T. organization is a special thing.....and thanks for representing so well Russ.
  23. I wish I had a few cases of those laying around......I'd be listing every one of them on eBay right now. 4biz, how well do they hold up? Tougher than a senko? ;D
  24. Thats a big weight difference. I hope his years of experience will even things out.
  25. PPV Saturday night.....UFC 74 Couture vs. Gonzaga (for HW Championship) -I'm pulling for Randy but Gonzaga looks like the real deal George St Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck (could be the best fight of the night) -Cheering against the Canadian but he is hungry for this win Joe Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegrino -doesnt matter either way Kendall Grove vs. Patrick Cote' -I'll take Kendall Huerta vs. Crane -Huerta should dominate this one Anybody else plan on watching this PPV?
