Why is it that everyone that catches a record fish cuts it up and eats it?

Mine slips (on 1 of my Kistlers) maybe an 1/8th of an inch and it slides to the side, not back and forth. When it moves it does give you that feeling but as long as everything is tightened down, the reel wont fly off.....there's no way it can. That 1/8th of an inch feels like a WHOLE LOT more than it actually is.

You have to throw a DD22 at some point in your fishing career. It would be best to do it sooner rather than later. In my opinion, its the best deep crank for the money on the market.

So with all the inconsistancy, inferior components, shoddy workmanship and outright falsehoods regarding quality control, if you just give Kistler another shot and buy their next "New Thing" all is good and you'll be a happy camper. That's assinine. I have followed this company and their hype from day one. That's bull pooh-pooh! So you are going on what you've heard and read? All I can say to that is 'dont knock it until you try it'. And meaning no disrespect RW, the guy who started this thread was interested in opinions from people who own Kistler Rods and have fished Kistler Rods.....I'm sure he's already read the same stuff you have. And who said if you buy Kistlers 'next new thing' that you'll be happy? It wasnt me because the LTA's aren't 'new'......not sure where that came from but if you're referring to the difference between the Mag series and the Heliums, ask anybody that has owned or used both.....the Helium is the superior rod and I'd guess thats why they cost a little more. Again, a guy wouldnt know that unless they have used or owned both.

That looks like another great option Mike. I may have to check into some of those.

Raul, as stated above, I didnt care for the Mag Series much either. Have you tried the Helium LTA's? For a few more bucks I feel like you get a much better rod.

Reel seat issues on Loomis rods? Oh really? Sounds like the truth is coming out now And I remember when people blasted the guy at Kistler for suggesting the electrical tape to fix the reel seat issues......

And when you say you can work 360 deg around the boat without drifting off the structure with the anchor.....are you just hovering over it in your boat and plopping your anchor right in the middle of it? Seems like that would spook the fish in more ways than one. Anchoring away from and just within casting distance of the target makes the most sense to me. I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat.

No doubt, that fish was living in prime real estate. Nice one man!

I have one Revo that doesnt fit exactly right on one of the 7' MH Heliums I have which I bought when the Kistlers first came out but the slip is very very minimal.....just barely enough to feel it move. All my others, which are newer models are okay.

Too much means too soft to me. But understand that I used All Stars for years and am used to fishing with 'pool sticks'. I would take a reel with you and maybe a jig, tie it on and try it out in the store.....too much tip for me may be just right for you. I'm just giving you my opinion based on the rods I had.

I use Revo's and Supreme spinning reels too. And I must say, the Supreme attached to a Helium is one awesome set-up. I didnt like the Mag TS rods I bought. One was the all day flippin stick....just had too much tip for my liking. I tried one other casting Mag TS and wasnt impressed with that one either, again, too much tip. Might have been the 69APC...cant remember exactly.

I have 3 of them. They are great reels in my opinion. I wouldnt return it.

I agree with that Needemp. An anchor is cumbersome to use and takes up valuable time when you're runnin' and gunnin'. I'd be more apt to use an anchor if the wind was real bad and I had a good read on where the fish were sittin'.

Where are they breaking? One I smashed the tip almost flat under my rod box lid, then stepped on it. They replaced the tip on that one. Other was when I whipped a Ledgebuster spinnerbait that was well over 1 ounce on the 7' MH, at some schooling fish that were just out of range.....snapped about an inch off the tip. They replaced that one, it was a clean break.

I use Kistler Heliums. Absolutely love 'em. These are the ones I have. HE69APC MH 6'9" jigs and worms, pitchin' HE70MHC MH 7'0" x2 worms and spinnerbaits/1 braid HE70HC H 7'0" deep jigs, pitchin' HE76HC H 7'6" carolina rig/braid HE76TXHC XH 7'6" flippin'/braid HE66MHS x2 (spinning) anything I need to skip I have broken a couple and the Customer Service was pretty good actually. They repaired one and sent me a replacement for the other. I'll buy more in the future.....I like being able to feel fish breathing on my bait.

Yeah, Houston looked good. Kongo handled Cro Cop and the judges handed Bisping the win over Hamill on a big fat silver platter. If that fight had not been in Bispings back yard I believe Hamill would've got that decision. I had it 30-28, 30-29, 28-30 for Hamill on my card. ;D I really dont understand why Hamill refused to keep Bisping on the mat. He's a freakin' world champion wrestler but in his last couple fights he wants to stand and strike with his opponents which is his biggest weakness. All he has to do is take them down repeatedly throughout the fight and pound on 'em a little bit.....I dont understand his thinking on that. Rampage/Henderson wasnt what I expected. I figured if Henderson could get past 3 rounds w/o getting knocked out, Rampage would gas and Henderson would take it. Rampage did his thing for 5 rounds. Good fight, congrats to him. UFC 76 in two weeks.....Liddell back in the cage against Keith Jardine and Shogun (badazz from Pride) will be fighting Forrest Griffin plus a few other undercard fights. No title fights in UFC76, might skip that one.
