My fishing class
Oh I ALWAYS walk to the fishin hole, its only a few hundred yards away!!! I know it is hard to believe... but... there ARE other places I take my car than to the fishin hole. My dad's theory was that: It is summer, parents wouldn't necessarily care about there kids learning fishing, just getting them out of the house and occupied. It is like babysitting with fish involved per say. I have offered to teach kids for free but nobody has ever asked about it. And I was thinking of marketing to a little older audience who might be interested in learning the finer points of fishing

My fishing class
Well I recently got a car and with the soaring gas prices I (mainly my dad) was looking to make a few bucks to supplement my gas funds and money for other things. Sports and other highschool events prevented me from getting a summer job early on, so there is not much of a choice for me now. I live in the suburbs, but thankfully there is a lake in my neighborhood. I have the idea of starting a little fishing class at the lake for all of the kids and other people in the neighborhood who want to learn more. I could offer live fishing lessons and lessons about all the other stuff you need to know even before you get on the water. I'd like comments and ideas on fees, lessons, and whatnot if you don't mind! Appreciate any ideas Trey

Once in a Senko Moon
Before I tell the little story behind this bass I have to tell the bigger story behind that story.... Some buddies of mine and I have gained permission to fish a small, private, neighborhood lake and have been frequenting the spot for a few months now. Senkos work extremely well in the extremely shallow lake, and we often turn to them in times of need. For a little ode to the senko (and the moon i guess) I figured out that we have caught two 8 pounders, a 10 pounder, and the bass I will soon introduce ALL on senkos and ALL on or near a full or new moon. I just though that was an interesting little tidbit ;D ANYWAY... one of my buddies and I headed over to this lake and were deadstickin senkos and dingers around the shore. I was extremely hot and tired from lack of sleep the previous night, so I took a seat near the water's edge under the shade of a tree. My friend was fishing not 10 feet from me and we were lazily casting out and deadstickin. Suddenly, a nice hawg swam into view literally 4 feet in front of me and I got REALLY excited. I frantically reeled in my long cast and presented my 6" YUM dinger to the bass who promptly turned and slurped it up. In the excited state that I was, I yanked the bait out of her mouth too soon, tearing the bait in the process. As my friend and I mourned the loss of a nice bass, I stripped the now 1" senko from my hook and asked to borrow one of the senkos my friend had in his pocket. I tossed the little nub into the water in front of me only to see the same bass dart in and devour it promptly after it plopped into the water. I almost hooked myself deeply while getting that senko on the line and into the water, but I did and the bass turned on my hook yet again. This time I played it out right and lipped the bass in maybe 15 seconds. The chunky bass went around six pounds and measured 22.25 inches long. (This was back on the new moon) Here she is:

Straight up Swimbaits
Here is the deal... -I want to get into some swimbait fishing and have for a long time -I have a low budget: I'm 16, don't have a job, and can barely afford to get my lures at Sports Authority or Dick's anyway... I'm not into these banjo minnows and SK softbaits and stuff: I don't wanna mess around with rigging and I just don't trust these miracle plastics anyhow.... -I am not in California: I am not fishing for the world record in the trout stocked waters of that promised land way out west.. I am in the suburbs of the metro-Atlanta area and I just want to get above 5 or maybe even up to 10 pounds... so I don't think I will be needing a foot long trout on my line. -I don't have a mast for a rod: based on my low budget I'm stuck with what I got; a buncha medium action rods, spinning and baitcaster, from 6 to 7 ft. If any of you want to look past all of this anti-swimbait clutter and give me some advice I would SURE appreciate it!!!!

Snob???

What The Heck??!!!???
That stuff is awesome haha. One time I put a jug trap out for some cats in my lake and baited it with cut bluegill. I was settin up a rod near where I threw it out and It started gettin hit like crazy. I wasn't near my boat at all so I cast my rig toward the trap and wrapped around the line and fought the fish in. It turned out to be a 10 lb. bass and it was my first double digit largemouth.

Nice bass with a BIG OLE carp on TOPWATER
A few buddies and I head up to the lake for some fishin today and the bluebird sky and windy conditions didn't yield too much of a bite for the most part. I finally changed to a jig after only catching a couple dinks and on my first cast after adding a trailer I landed a nice 4 lber. (pictured below). Fishing was rather slow and we were kinda gettin frustrated (especially when my friend tossed me a bag of ice and it landed on the edge of my leg, flipping my balancing polarized sunglasses into the water to sink into the murky underdark... >) We headed back to the docking area and two feeders started going off. A bunch of grass carp started feeding and we decided to throw whatever we had at them. I nearly hooked one on a worm hook outfitted with a pretzel form out lunch. My friend landed an 11 lb. carp with a Mt. Ranier Cherry from out lunch. Later I decided to go all out and tie on a topwater. I cast it into the feeding frenzy and let it sit until an big carp rolled on it and gave me one heck of a fight! He went 20 lbs. on the digital scale and made for some nice pics.

Your thoughts on this lake
My friends and I fish a small maybe 5 acre pond in between some houses in a nearby neighborhood. It is very small and very shallow, only 4 to 5 feet at the greatest depth. It is a rather unremarkable pond with little submergered structure, but it is blanketed with grass mats just below the surface in a large portion of the pond. We have the patterns down pretty well and have whacked em on everything from senkos to spinnerbaits, but the lunkers seem to be hit or miss. We know for a fact that they are there; two 15 lbers. have been pulled outa there not to mention the 10 lber. that bassmasterob posted up here recently. Some days the hawgs with hang around a drain near the dam side of the pond, but most days they are nowhere to be seen or hooked. The pond also contains a large population of grass carp, bluegill, and a few catfish. We've gotten pretty good at fishing, but I always get such good responses on BR that I had to put the question to y'all. Any other suggestions for us?
