  1. shut up rob, my avatar pic is bigger so there
  2. I went fishin yesterday with a bunch of my buddies and we were whackin em all over the place with jigs. Afterward, in the car, I noticed that my friend had left the trailer on his jig and the jig on the line. I didn't object to leaving the jig on, but I pointed out to him that he should have put away the trailer to preserve the scent and moisture of the plastic (so it doesn't shrivel up and become worthless). He and my other friend argued with me calling it "a controversial subject." I'm pretty sure they were just messin with me, but would someone please gimme a good response to knock some sense into them? (they are on BR too)
  3. I'm headin over to BPS soon and need to pick up some new jigs. I prefer football head jigs, anyone got suggestions?
  4. For really detailed and small repair jobs, I light a candle and heat up a needle over it for a while. The needle gets hot enough to melt the plastic precisely where you want it and you can use it accordingly. I use broader objects for larger scale repair jobs (i.e. a small screw driver I don't really use or something like that)
  5. Well you got both dark colored craws which are more versatile than the lighter ones (at least I think). They show up well in most water conditions, so seeing as you have dark one, you can't go wrong. I would go with the blue on more overcast days and with the black/red on clearer days. Also, if at all possible, catch a crawfish in your local watershed and take note of the color, especially the tips of the pinchers. This can really help in "matching the hatch" and bass will respond well to similar colors
  6. Hey don't worry about it bud. I missed countless fish when first gettin into jig fishing, it takes some getting used to first. You'll be slammin' 'em on jigs in no time!
  7. yeah the jigs are still working amazingly well. whacked a 2, a 3, and two 7's on Sunday. will tell more about it later in the outing section when my friend sends me the pics
  8. well i always thought i was supposed to just twitch it like a worm... but TODAY i read an article bout it and tried just wiggling the rod tip so the jig just kinda crawls on the bottom and i twitch it once in a while... that worked REALLY well... give it a try
  9. I've never been able to produce with jigs.. until tonight! Caught 5 in just over an hour and missed countless others due to my inexperience with a jig. I even caught one on TOP when they started busting... I reeled the jig really fast on top and whacked one... I love football jigs
  10. disease???? that ain't no disease brother... that means you are perfectly healthy!
  11. come on rob why don't you ever ask ME these questions!!!!??? I mean we go to the same school.... yeah my buddy was catchin 'em on a zoom super fluke watermelon/red on your lake when you brought Robert with you. Flukes have great action and are very versitile. we'll talk bout 'em tomorrow
  12. wow... very good stuff man, i like what you got goin on here. I have noticed the same thing many times... when I'm fishin on my own I just hone in on bass and catch TONS of 'em. But when I bring a friend along (being the competitor that I am) I always try to outfish them, while talking and joking and all that of course. I always seem to get less fish or struggle more to outfish them with that added distraction. Even if I just had a bad day or something and my mind is elsewhere I can't get on fish right... Man you hit it right on the head. Keep up those posts
  13. yeah those are great... or the ones that don't surface and you say, "yeah, this just feels like one of those little ones that fights really hard." Then you lip a monster hawg momma and commence with the surprised celebration
  14. very funny... that picture has been EVERYWHERE... lotta controversy with that one too
  15. wow great recovery stories.. flathead minnows? I thought those weren't any good stockin in an older fishery... I read they are good for startin' from scratch.. o well you got results. I'm personally a fan of shad though
  16. thanks guys... and Rob... we are definitely goin back there sometime soon... and to Hudson's lake too
  17. Out there on Castaic and Casitas on the big bass scene? NICE. Good bass. yeah Bob Crupi got it. He' s the man... wish he was still chasin the record with those craws of his
  18. Bass do spawn in those temps.. but it depends on where you are and the conditions. Bass will spawn during a full moon regardless of the temp... or if instincts call, they will force themselves on the beds when you would least expect them to be there (i.e. the other day when it was snowing and I saw bass on the beds (water in low 50's to high 40's). Generally they will stick to the warmer temps though. Don't take out TOO many bluegill. You want to have some big ones in there to thin out the bass population by eating eggs and bass fry. If your lake becomes over populated the bass will stunt and only grow large enough to spawn. The mixture of sizes sounds good to me though
  19. yeah that pond is like a puddle... smaller than an acre.. but there are bass in it. Rob just come to me with questions like that. the main risk would be invasive species but I've looked into it and it is fine. The only thing would be getting that guy's permission
  20. I fish neighborhood ponds because I live in metro Atlanta. The ponds I fish I either have permission to fish them or I have friends with a boat or property on the water. Even if I need to go through someone's yard or want to fish someone else's bank, there is a little rule in neighborhood ponds that deems at least 3 to 5 feet or so from the shore as public property or property of residents... so technically I can go wherever I want ;D
  21. smallies??? hmmm never caught a smallmouth before... always wanted to though
  22. OK bassn blvd that was totally unecessary.... thanks for the serious responses now here is mine 9lb. March 20, 2008 late morning few feet out from a dock in about 5 or 6 feet of water Firetiger Rattlin' Rap pic is in the avatar
  23. List your personal best bass 1. weight 2. length (if possibly) 3. time of year/time of day caught 4. where caught (you don't have to be specific but type of cover/structure would be nice) 5. what you were using 6. picture 7. have fun with it
  24. Nice!!! how big is this pond? Do you own it or something? How much new forage did you have to put in to make a difference?
