  1. yeah i know thats a good idea... it is inevitable sometimes though and i feel worthless out there on the water
  2. that there is the John Madden of fishing... "now on this cast I will either catch a fish, or I won't."
  3. actually did the same thing with a grass carp that went 47 pounds
  4. nice story man, same thing happened to me with a hybrid striper. I thought it was a HUGE bass
  5. I remember reading a post about fishing instinct a while back (sorry I don't remember who posted it), and I have recently had several experiences to confirm the idea in my mind. Have you ever: -Gotten on the water, excited to be out there, but find you just can't get into a fishing mindset, throwing off your techniques and pattern-finding? -had a bad experience prior to an outing that clouded your mind and didn't allow you to think about fishing? -Were simply just out of whack and felt out of place on the water, zoning out after every cast? I notice these patterns in my own fishing when I am extremely unsuccessful and haven't found a surefire solution to them, but am working on it and would love suggestions from any others who experience such bad days on the water.
  6. I love catchin bass on a fly, especially my own patterns
  7. thanks for the advice guys. Yeah Paul, I've heard a lot about bluegill beds and capitalized on them a lot too. I just need to get a car ;D
  8. One time when I was bed fishing with my buddy and we were trying to cast as close to the beds as possible. Whenever he made a good cast he exclaimed, "GIVE ME AN AWARD!!!!"
  9. My buddy and I fish a lake on a golf course that holds some hawgs (possibly 10+) but we have some pretty tough days. Due to driving complications (we don't have cars) we can only get taken there in the afternoon (1-3 p.m.) and I know it's not a great time but we have to make do. We also don't get very much TIME to fish it due to driving complications once again. The lake is filled with shad and I know they should be spawning any time now, but we can't get there early enough to catch that action. The bass are either in the last throes of the spawn or moving into post-spawn with this hot weather. We tried tons of stuff the other day and nothing seemed to be hot. The only good one we got was on a jig that was worked in a bed FOREVER before drawing a strike. Any advice?
  10. wow, interesting... i'll have to look out for that next time
  11. well you need to get into cranks and soft plastics too, especially with summer comin up. i know it works, but you can't ALWAYS use the same thing. just wanna get you on fish thats all
  12. ...hudson that makes up your entire tackle box
  13. wow, paul. you just keep crankin 'em out don't ya?! That little streak for me has slowed down a bit
  14. hahahahaaaaa.... sorry hudson.. I don't ALWAYS bash you! I just used to get annoyed (and still do) cuz you ALWAYS suggest/use the exact same thing. It used to be a spinnerbait, now its a jig... variety bud
  15. and those bass too
  16. That, my friends, is the fattest bass I have ever laid eyes upon
  17. Bien sur oui! J'irai a Lyon cet ete pour un changement avec Externat Sainte-Marie. Demain, un garcon arrivera ici pour practiquer parler anglais chez moi. IL Y A DES BASS EN FRANCE!?!?!?!
  18. I just wish I had someone to guide me into the sport instead of usin live bait on the dock when I was 7 with my dad. I wish I would have found some decent instruction rather than struggling over the years to teach myself the techniques of artificials all by me lonesome (shoulda got on the BR SOONER!)
  19. Je sais qu'elle ne comprends pas... c'est injuste!!!... alors, elle a efface mon nom sur la tableu a la fin de la classe... ca va. haha yeah she gets so ticked when I talk about BPS and "aller a la peche"
  20. ...If you've ever considered quitting a varsity sport to free up more time on the water
  21. Wow dude... that couldn't describe me and my buddies better!... well me anyways... just posted mine about getting a detention for talking about it too much in class (in French too!)
  22. You may be addicted to bass fishing if.... you get a detention in French class for talking about it (in French) too much ;D
  23. they are cheaper and work pretty well when you are workin a hot dink bite or goin for numbers or something. I wouldn't suggest them if you are trying to target larger bass though. Go with a jig! they last and always work
  24. you can never be sure until you fish it thoroughly, but I would say 5 and down. I'm no expert though, go read the articles on BR about bass biology and growing and stuff, they are really good
  25. I recently started assembling my own jigs and I'm really liking the result. My only problem is matching the jig head with the various Starflash skirts I have (by the way, feedback on the round silicone???). Do the lure paints work well with jigs and should I just stock up on some? I don't like the look of a brown football jig with a white and blue skirt on it
