Just about everything in the Sufix lineup is a winner.

What made you want to try Jig/Pig/trailer
I too started throwing them about two years ago. I quickly found out I needed smaller jigs in a lot of the waters I fish because of the amount of snot algae I have to deal with. Most of the time they got fouled almost instantly. I did catch fish on them though, that's why I didn't give up on them. I just got a bunch of 1/16 oz Strike King Bitsy jigs. This year I'm going waaaaay outside of the box and throwing these with 2" Paca Chunks for a trailer using my ultra light rig. I can't wait to start throwing this, I just have a feeling it's going to be a winner.

New Austin Lake Record
Quote from the story: . We didn't have a net, but luckily I had a partner in the boat who was willing to take as many treble hooks in the hand as he had to get her in the boat". Now that's a true friend right there..

How ironic
As I stare out the window at the latest 8" of snow and drive by countless frozen solid lakes every day, I clearly remember *itching about the relentless heat this past summer and how it negatively impacted my fishing. I guess there is something to that old saying about being careful what you wish for

Basic Carp Tips??
Try Googling "UK carp fishing" . Carp fishing in the United Kingdom is almost a religion. They can be as fanatical as we are about bass. Also pay attention to any mention of "boilies" baits.

Best Spinning reel under $100
Maybe I got a bad one then because it was my first Shimano and I wasn't impressed What did you not like about it? Clancy W After a couple outings the bail would stick open if I just started to crank to close it, now I normally hand close the bail but in haste have forgotten a few times. It then started to feel like the gears were grinding and since then it has spent more time at home than on the water. Maybe a good cleaning and some time with a reel mechanic can bring it back to life. Well I havent had that problem, but I dont reel the bail closed. Clancy W This brings up a few points. It's a fact that most baitcast reels benefit from a thorough clean and lube even when brand new. Spinning reels are no different. Like baitcast, most spinning reels are way overlubed from the factory. ALWAYS close the bail by hand after a cast. Most line problems occur from reeling the bail shut. One last thing. Most modern era reels have a line roller bearing as part of the bail assembly. This bearing is more prone to trouble as it is 'outside' of the reel. If you have chronic line twisting, make sure the line roller spool spins freely. It's a tiny bearing and you won't hear it if it locks up. The line will just glide over the roller instead of spinning it.

Kinda disappointed in my new Supreme XT...
That's the ONLY thing that annoys me with Pflueger - the handles are not standard across the product line. The regular Supreme handle is a home run. The Trion and President have those horrible rosewood handles. Pflueger succumbed to the EVA fad on the Patriarch and new Supreme. I hope they reconsider when it's time for the next generation. Maybe I'll buy a Shimano.......... NOT !!!

The Keurig
One of the "secrets" to Dunkin Donuts coffee.... http://www.tuscandairy.com/images/product_cream_light.jpg For good coffee, all you need is cold filtered water, quality coffee and a coffee maker that brews HOT.

Clunn goes with.......Wright and McGill???
I said it on the KVD thread and I'll say it here. Nothing influences my buying decision LESS than an endorsement. I don't care if they actually use the product or not. I can't believe anyone over the age of fifteen says to themselves "Wow,_________uses it. I gotta get one"

Another question for car guy's
This is likely what happened. Something (oil pressure, water temp, any number of things) ran outside of it's parameters and it went into self protection. Pulling codes is the right thing to do, but Auto Zone is the last place I'd have diagnosing my vehicle. Speaking from experience, codes can be triggered by other things not related to the item that's supposed to be at fault. Often sensors share a common ground (return) path This is best diagnosed by a qualified tech.

Stupid Grape Nuts...
Who's old enough to remember this guy ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZQAdCDcU0A I swear he could find something 'edible' in a pile of scrap metal.

Since when..
I put a coat of U-40 on the cork tonight. I have two more reels to strip, clean and lube. The tacklebags are stocked up. I'm running out of stuff to do...

Rod Warranties
I broke my Avid last year. I think I may have been at fault and told St. Croix so. They replaced the rod without a hitch. Score one for St. Croix I just got a brand new Fenwick Elite River Runner, it has a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner. I could not find anything on their site's warranty page about a fee. BTW, that was a $130 rod.

The kind of crap I think about in the dead of winter.
In my line of work (field service mechanic) I have been trained to be creative when it comes to this. After 10 years of utilizing 5 gallon buckets in the back of my work truck (way more sanitary than any outhouse or public john), beaching the kayak and scooting into the woods is no big deal.

Since when..
Uhhhh....unfortunately that may be a while. 8" of snow coming in tonight. Lakes have been frozen over forever. Nothing like ordering fishing toys in the dead of winter and having to stare at them

Since when..
.. does Bass Pro Shops ship rods in flimsy triangular cardboard packages ?http://www.packagingmart.com/Images/ProductImages/480_xl.jpg I just received my new Fenwick http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1295717353 and in spite of the packaging, it arrived intact. It's not heavy cardboard by any stretch of the imagination. It's got printing on it that indicates that it was packaged at Fenwick. BPS probably received it and put a shipping label on it when my order was processed. I don't really have a gripe, it just surprise me. The rod is a two piece. It was in a sealed plastic pack inside the box, that was it. First rod I've had sent to me that wasn't in a heavy cardboard tube.

First crappies of the year....
Nice slabs. Did you get them through the ice or open water ?

Removing plastic on cork of new rod handles
Uhhh.....There's neighborhoods in South Philadelphia where 3 out of 5 houses will have that... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_A5FL9OIazeA/RyFbL9kGuQI/AAAAAAAAAio/xxchbZJMUCY/s400/plastic%2Bcovers.jpg

This is why I dont eat taco bell.
My neighbor is an electrician who's been in the kitchens of so called 'five star' restaurants in Manhattan. Taco Bell would be a step up from some of them.

What are the little things that bother you?
Once great baits that are shells of their former selves. Just one example - the Jitterbug. Crappy misaligned hardware, cheap bodies, joke hooks. This could be repeated hundreds of times over throughout the fishing world. That reminds me. Paying for a new bait and having to upgrade the hooks right away. >

Where to melt?
Get a blower like this : http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/250751_lg.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200329632_200329632&usg=__RUKJIHkc8TEgTCLkbS9VWXPzyVQ=&h=400&w=400&sz=29&hl=en&start=1&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=W9ZlLcXYKEnSaM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dstanley%2Bfan%2Bblower%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1R2ADFA_enUS408%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=MWE_TZuDEIT68AbDoPHrAw It's a third of the size of a box fan and moves a lot more air. Depot and Lowes carry them.

When did it become wrong to win?
Sometimes you get more out of an *** whoopin' than a win.

Fishing Hats
I'm not sure what that has to do with hats, but thanks for sharing. I think you will find that the booney hat does a good job of protecting your ears but not your neck. Wear a shirt with a collar and flip the collar up for better protection. There is alot of reflection of harmful sun rays coming from the water so a good sunscreen is pretty important as well. steve made that mistake without sunscreen. what a stupid mistake. i now have sunscreen all the time with me when im on the boat You should have seen my fair skinned Irish *** after my first day fishing in my new kayak last year. Me and sunscreen are real tight now.
