Fenwick feedback
Ultra liite is ultra lite. They're just marketing it as a trout rod because normal, sane people don't use ul gear to go after bass. I guess I'm neither Actually it's the ul nature of the rod that allows the use of 4 to 6 lb test. The rod acts as somewhat of a shock absorber. A reel with a top notch drag is a must also.

anybody seen/used these???
A nice looking bait, no doubt. But the bass is only ever going to see the bottom of it.

Now what do I do?
Is that what the young 'uns call it these days ? You'll go blind if you keep doing that..

Fenwick feedback
Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised by the positive responses. I didn't realize that many of you owned them. I just may pull the trigger on this one.

An old favorite thread topic....Gas Prices.
Kind of glad the Explorer crapped out and we're in a 4 cyl. Honda now... : You can thank our short sighted economic policies of the last few decades for what's coming. At one time we were capable of developing technologies that would have put the internal combustion engine out to pasture. But because no one wants to invest long term, and we don't manufacture much of anything anymore, here we are. Corporations are only interested in profits NOW. We could have been so far ahead by now....

How bad is it to always use swivels?
Cross loc snaps on hard baits. The only times I use swivels is on in-line spinners, and I use only ball bearing ones. I agree with JFrancho, the Norman speed clips are a pain in the arse.

This reel will top the chart this year...
Cabela's should pay ME to advertise for them.

How do you treat your combos?
What's wrong with leaning your rods against a wall? IIRC, after extended periods of time It will retain that small bend in the rod where its leaning. I assumed that's what he was getting at, but I'll believe it when I see it. Like I mentioned earlier - I heard of the rod bending issues back when folks were still using split-bamboo flyrods...but I don't recall ever hearing it was an issue with solid fiberglass. hollow fiberglass, or graphite rods.. : Actually, I'm not too concerned with them bending. It's more to keep them from leaning against the concrete block wall in my basement, which will damage them. Also rods leaning against a wall stand a chance of falling over and into something.

Jason Garrett is Dallas' coach
ALL of the 'great' qb's had elite offensive lines that allowed them to do what they do best. Look beyond one man.

Fenwick feedback
I'm considering this for my new UL rod : http://www.basspro.com/Fenwick-Elite-Tech-River-Runner-Spinning-Rods/product/10210426/-1743464 Now I realize UL is in the minority here, but anyone with real feedback on Fenwicks in general please chime in. I e-mailed them to ask about the warranty. It's limited lifetime to the original owner. PLEASE, no "save a few more dollars and get the ____" or "My neighbor's cousin's plumber had one and said it sucked" I just want to hear from people that have handled them and their honest opinions. Thanks

Mega Millions Jackpot $355 million
If I had that kind of money, you'd never know it. I have ZERO interest in large houses, fancy vehicles, any of that stuff. Being able to blend into the crowd. The real reward is piece of mind knowing you don't owe anybody a d*nm thing.

New baits & Techniques you want to try in 2011
Back to basics. Believe it or not, I have not thrown an old school worm (7" ribbontail) in about 3 years. I have some new 1/16 oz mini jigs that I just know are gonna crush for me. Ever have that feeling about a bait ? It's been a long time, but these are it for me.

How do you treat your combos?
;D You should see my toolbox after a 14 hour day. I fish my stuff hard. It's not fine art on display. I treat my gear with reasonable care. All of my reels have some degree of rash. I take care not to bang my rods around. Every winter all reels get stripped to the frame. All rods get a bath. Rods and reels get a coat of car wax. Reels go away in a soft six pack cooler, rods get stored in a rod rack I made from PVC that stores them upright. My rods never lean against a wall.
