I believe my fill up earlier today was $3.09 for 87. I honestly don't even look all that much anymore. It just makes me want to cry whenever I swipe the card at a gas station.

The last time I filled up the boat to make a trip offshore it was just over 400 bucks to fill the tank (135 gallons). That was a couple of weeks ago. It aint getting any cheaper right now either.  :(

$1.15 a litre or roughly $4.35 a gallon.

Never understood why you complain so much about gas prices, they're among the lowest in the world.

Because they could be lower.

It's not the price itself necessarily.  It's the rapid ascent from "dirt cheap" to a considerable expense that really gets me.

I'm 31, started driving when I was 16. Gas was under $1 when I first drove and last year it touched $4 near me and greatly exceeded it other places.

That I understand.  Don't remember what gas cost when I started driving but I know it was 0.45 a litre when I bought my first car and I thought it was ridiculous when it passed 0.60.

We've seen it go from 0.75 to 1.15 over the past two months.

Venezuela is cheapest gas the world. Middle East is pretty dirt cheap too.

For speedbead, the rapid change is the price for barrel of oil and price of U.S. dollars. Not to mention some companies get stuck with higher price for the barrel.

And unfortunately, its going to get worse before it gets better. There is talk of pricing oil in other currencies.

$3.19 on average here, when I stated driving gas was .12 9/10 for regular.  The major difference in prices from state to state and country to country are taxes, it cost pretty much the same to get it our of the ground and refine it.

Hofmeister said gas will be $5.00 in 2012.

A valid point. I also accept that higher prices are an inevitable result of inflation over time. What is hard to accept is the notion that higher prices in the long run are better for everyone long term, and the sooner we get there the better. A couple of dollars a gallon is no big deal to upper income folk. They can afford it and and more economical vehicles as well. Tell the blue collar guy driving an older truck(because that is what he can afford) that an extra couple of hundred dollars or more a month is no big deal. The bottom line is gas prices have far more to do with politics policy other things :-X than supply and demand IMHO.
