  1. Yep been looking at them already.....pretty tempted.
  2. Guess I should have added that I'm pretty old school when it comes to the newest split grip rods. I just like the cork handles with a cork fore grip.
  3. Well around $80 actually....I think I've narrowed it down to three main choices. St.Croix Triumph, Shimano Clarus (or Convergence) or Team All Star IM10. Gonna go with 7' med or med/hvy. I've seen a lot of great deals on the different forums on other more expensive rods that are being sold used, (not to say I wouldn't go that route either) but these are my choices for NEW rods. Input and/or comparisons on any one or all three appreciated.
  4. For a 5.2:1 ratio, you can't beat the Pflueger Trion reels. They are some tough workhorses. If 6.2:1 is your ticket, then a Sedona 1000 or 2500, or save up another 30-40 bucks and get the Pflueger Supreme MG or XT.
  5. Try it on any one of these Sworming Hornets.....killer! Vary sizes from the 3" Tiny Fluke to the 5" Super Fluke. I personally like the 4" original, but they're a little hard to find. I often use a 4" Fin-S-Fish in place of the original Fluke.
  6. Ah yes....an old tried and true trick that works superbly. Here's another vote for Strike King cranks #4, #5, and #6 sizes.
  7. I ordered a couple of the narrow spool versions from Cabelas today. Too good of a deal to pass on. Wish I had the $$ for a couple more.
  8. Yes soft plastics mainly. I find that I can get the Triumph 7' MH for about the same price as well.
  9. # 6'10" # Medium Heavy Action # Line Weight = 10-20lb. # Lure Weight = 3/8oz. - 1oz. Experience the silky smoothness of this advanced rod, and you may never pick up another casting stick again. Designed to finesse the world's most challenging waters, a Midas® Boron rod presents the ultimate in lightweight handling, sensitivity and power. Each is built upon a revolutionary 85 million modulus boron matrix blank - blending pure boron, which offers a level of "feel" unmatched by any other material, with high-end graphite fibers for crisp, familiar actions with no hint of brittleness. The resulting hybrid is then fitted with top-grade Fuji® SiC Concept guides, a Fuji graphite reel seat, hand-lathed premium cork handles, and an anodized aluminum winding check and butt cap. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this rod. Looks like it might be a pretty good one for my new-to-me Curado 200B. The Boron addition has my interest piqued. However, I can get a 6'6" Med. action St. Croix Triumph for the same price.
  10. Yea that 9.3 oz. kinda concerns me as well. I did fish Ctica D models for over a year though and they're over 9 oz. each. I was wondering about the performance of the Trillionare and it's cast ability.
  11. Anybody fishing one of these reels.? How do ya like it?
  12. Looks like NewAngler has got it covered in another post.
  13. Got an email ad about this. Anyone else?
  14. Hey I've got some of these. Never really used them any. Guess I'll have to give them a try now.
  15. Sad.....but it is true.
  16. Went out to my favorite "honey hole" today. Rage Craws, Baby Brush Hogs, Paca Craws.....you get the picture....it usually is a craw bait plastics spot. No such luck today. We've had lot of rain this week from Hermine so the water was up and murky. A couple of fish hit the Rage Craws as we were retrieving them back to the boat, so I figured a bait they could chase that had a lttle vibration would do good. Tied on one the Fish Head Spins, hung a Baby Bass colored 3" Assassin on it and nailed fish on the second and fourth casts. All total I think 7 fish were suckered into biting it today. I'm happy with the results. Got it snagged a couple times, but I pulled up right above it and the bait came out easily each time. Of course I didn't bury the hook into the snag either. These are great baits, a little pricey, but are still worth it to me.
  17. Got the Tackle Warehouse box from the UPS guy at about 4:00 today. These are pretty impressive jigheads. I got the Lil Dude 1/8 and 3/16 oz. in Green Albino and Natural Shad, Fish Head Shaker 1/4 oz. in Albino, Sworming Hornet Fish Head Spin in 1/8 and 1/4 oz. Green Albino and Smokin Shad. Can't wait to see how these are gonna work out with some 4" and 3" Fin-S-Fish and Bass Assassins and Fluke Jr. that I have. Also have Sassy Shads and Fat Albert and Kalins grubs. http://www.***.com/searchresults.html?search=products&searchtext=sworming+hornet&x=9&y=8

Ought to be a real killer on one of these........ http://www.***.com/descpage.html?PCODE=Ganother siteHRD
  19. This thread is most directed to those who like myself, are on a pretty tight budget when it comes to fishing equipment. I usually am looking for bargains and/or limit myself to 50-125 buck purchases. So....I've been looking for a good cranking specific rod for medium divers to set my TrionLPCR onto. Came across the Ugly Stick Lite and it hit me.....why not? Limber tip. fiberglass composite rod, fiberglass tip, cork handles, decent looking rod, good reputation. Maybe not the most sensitive by far but for a dedicated cranking rod.....yep I believe it will work for me. Fish 3-5 times a month, not tourney fishing anymore, got a med/hvy BPS Crankin Stick for the deep divers, but it's too heavy for medium to shallow divers. The Ugly Stick Lite should work. What do you guys think? Is my logic on track?
  20. I've been eyeballing the Advantage TD150H. One of the sites has them on sale right now. Looks like a great reel. The 153HST, however looks like it would be an excellent reel.
  21. Which of the current Daiwa baitcast reels does the Cabelas Prodigy reel most resemble? Also which does the ZX HS resemble? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0064466124213a&navCount=1&podId=0064466&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
  22. I received two of the 100HN reels Tuesday. Got another one in transit that should be here tomorrow. These reels are awesome! Smooth as butter. I'll probably add reel grips later on, but the handles are fine as is. Free spool setting genuinely frees the spool. The magnetic system actually works, got mine set on 5 which is halfway and at that setting it really shuts the spool down. Think I'll go to a 3 for fishing. Just had the chance to do a little pitching and casting in the yard so far but I am REALLY impressed. I'm matching them with three Team-V rods that I just had setting around. Will have all three on the water Saturday. For each of these reels I will have paid about $28.35 each.....One heck of a deal.
  23. Free shipping on ALL rods at Cabelas right now.
