there are people that make non lead lures besides the big guys you see in BPS and Cabelas. Most are tin/bismuth mixes. What type of head are you looking for? Dont feel bad. Eventually every state will be like that. Some already are and some streams/lakes are like that. Its a matter of time.

There are some really good articles on here that show you how to make lures. Also alot of great topics and info. To answer you better we do need specific questions.

I use a carving knife and sandpaper. Use a saw for the rough cut then trim from there.

Ditto, When I tried them they were horrible. Dulled quick, points were soft, and they were a waste of $ compaired to the longevity of premium hooks.

never caught anything real weird. Just a fishing pole and a couple rocks with holes in them.

I think alot of it has to do with the poor economy, lack of jobs, political disaster, and a few other things. Everyone is at the end of their rope. Sad thing is, I forsee it getting alot worse before better.
