Is Jackson Kayak Asleep ??
I have a 2015 Cuda 12, and am ok with it. I fish a few rivers nearby, and Lake Murray in it. I agree with most of what you're saying. I'm looking at a couple of other brands for next year myself.

Anybody do kayak fishing in the Midlands, SC?
I'm in Texas for work right now, but last week, they were in the Buffalo Creek, and Dreher Shoals. Any color of white fluke works off of points, and I like to drop shot the points also. There's a link to Lake murray on SCDNR.GOV if you want more info.

Anybody do kayak fishing in the Midlands, SC?
Hey all, I've been a member for a few years, but haven't posted in quite a while. I'm just seeing if there are any other kayak anglers in the Midlands of South Carolina, and if you ever wanted to meet up to do some fishing. Thanks

Topwater Rod And Reel
I use a 6'3" Cabelas XML that I bought for $25 a couple of years ago, with a Revo S, and 10# Trilene XT. I also may use spinning gear.

Doing 4 Day Lake Murray( Sc) In August? August Good?
I just moved nearby Lake Murray, and went fishing a couple days in a row. I was fishing off of docks, and the bank, as my kayak has not made its way down from Cleveland yet. Where I fished had mostly a rocky bottom, and water was fairly clear, I only caught a couple smaller ones, but top water, and wacky rigs got me some bites. They seemed to have a subtle bite. Hope this helped.

What Rods Should I Have On My Kayak?
I have 2 falcon lowrider xg's that are 7'6" med fast. 1 spinning and 1 baitcast. I also use a couple mh loomis rods over 7' long. Some guys like shorter rods, or shorter grips, but I prefer longer on both. The extra length gives me added leverage, and casting distance. It's all about what works for you. I also you swimbait rods that are pushing 8ft long out of my kayak. Good luck with your search.

Good Way To Store Soft Plastics In Kayak?
I have a Sit In kayak too. It can be a pain in the butt to figure out where to put stuff. I move the seat a little further up. and put a milk crate there. I also put extra bungees on the front, with a smaller plano soft bag on it. It may take some practice to get to your stuff, but it's doable.

Bass Pro Shops Rant I Just Dont Understand It.
I love the Mann's Stone Jig, it is my confidence lure. Any color, any weather, I love it. I cannot find it in any stores in my area, and TW is the only place I can find it with regularity. The only problem with TW is that when I go to order $30 in jigs, I end up spending $300. It'skind of like going to Costco for milk.

Is Swimbait Color, Or Profile More Important?
Last year, I was determined to become proficient with jigs, and now it is a confidence bait for me. This year I plan on delving into the swimbait. As far as gear, I'm leaning towards the Dobyns Champion 795, with a Cardiff 200a. I have been reading some excellent posts and articles here regarding swimbaits and techniques, and have some ideas as to what swimbaits to look for. The question that I have is, does the color of it make the bait, or is the profile and action what works most? Some of the recommended lures are either very hard to find, or only have certain colors left. Any help would be great, thanks.

All Ohio Fishing
The Medina Reservoir was awesome yesterday. I was in the middle of the lake with a weedless spoon, and must have found a school by accident. I even caught a couple Walleyes, which were delicious. Then after work, I went to Coe, and caught a couple decent sized ones shallow and by bridge pylons. I have been having luck when it's overcast out, dropshotting a Zoom fluke in translucent pearl with blue flake.

What Is A Good Kayak For Fishing?
It all depends on what kind of kayak, how tricked out you want it, your size. I have a Old Town Predator 10'6" sit in yak. It came with one rod holder, and I put an extra one on, it was designed to be a duck hunting kayak and has a larger opening. Also I made a bracket for my fishing buddy. You can get a regular Old Town for $300-$350 and then ad accessories to it, some which you might have to make yourself. Or you can get a kayak with aft and bow storage, and bungees. If you save up a little more, you can get into a decent sit on top, which are way more comfortable, and easier to get in and out of. I've fished from cheap little kayaks, and mine which I've set up to suit me. The key is: Does it float? Is it cheaper than a boat? Can I find one that I'm comfortable in? I recommend to sit in them, and try getting in and out. Check out sit on tops, and make sure if yours doesn't come with a padded seat to pick up a gel seat.

All Ohio Fishing
I went to a lake in Brunswick that people told me there were no fish in. I saw about a hundred ducks chilling all around the lake, and new there would be fish there. I only brought one rod with a green pumpkin Mann's stone jig with no trailer with me, as I had and errand to run and new I could fish for about an hour. I started casting over cat tails, and aiming for logs in the water, and caught a couple nice ones. Then yesterday I took the yak out to Coe lake, and was fishing off a pile of rocks, and caught a fat 3lb-er. I like fishing in the rain, as long as the winds aren't too strong. Yesterday I went out to specifically practice my jig fishing. I saw fish jumping all around me, but couldn't get them to hit a buzz bait. I switched to a wacky rig, and caught enough to make my trip out worth while.

Drop Shot Rod
I use a Shimano Compre Medium Xtra Fast in the 7 foot size, and a 6'6" Premier in Medium Light. Both rods do the trick, and are affordable.

Purple Worms?
I like to use the Trick Worm in black grape T-rigged and weightless, when fishing around docks in marinas.

All Ohio Fishing
What's up fellas? I live near Medina, and fish a lot of local lakes, reservoirs, and a couple of rivers. If I fish a river, it is usually the Rocky River, or the Black River. And of course Lake Erie when I can guilt a buddy who has a boat to take me. I have a kayak, and really like to get into the hard to get spots on heavily pressured public lakes. Lately I've been fishing on Coe, and Wallace lake in Berea. They are both good if you can get away from the bank, just due to a lot of pressure there. Spencer Lake is also fun when I am aloud to get out there. I actually stopped fishing for about 2 years, and recently got the bug again. Bass Hunter, Where in Maine are you going? I went up to a lake that locals called Big Pond, and East Pond near Oakland Maine a few years ago, and absolutely murdered the Smallies up there. Good luck to all, and Michigan Still Sucks!

What Should I Buy And Be Using?
Like the others, a 6'6" - 7' Medium Fast, or extra fast rod will work for what you are doing. For Perch, I've only used small minnows on a spreader set up, but a 2in. grub on a lighter jig head should work also. Colors for grubs that I like are pumpkin w/ chartreuse tail, smoke with black fleck, and fire tiger. For bass start with 2 Spinner baits. I like white with chartreuse, white with red, and any natural looking ones. Topwater lures are really fun to fish with, once you learn how to do it. For topwater, try a buzzbait, or something like a Rebel Popr. Buy some 1/4 oz. bullet weights. A pack of 2/0 or 3/0 offset hooks. And a package of green pumpkin, or watermelon/red Yamamoto Senkos in 4". The grubs on jig heads will catch bass too. One of largest I've caught was on a 1/8 oz. jig head, with a chartreuse 3" Zoom Fat Albert grub, that I was bouncing of the bottom around a pile branches submerged about 7 feet deep. As far as a reel, use what you are comfortable with, but you should try a spinning reel or a low profile baitcaster. As far as line. 8-10 lb. mono should be fine, unless you regularly catch 7lb. bass. Brand and price are your preference. Everyone here will give their recommendations, and they will all be different. If you want a set up for around $100. try a Berkley lightning shock, a Shakespeare Ugly stik lite, St. Croix Triumph. Match with whatever type of reel to the type of rod you get. Spinning reels: Abu Garcia Cardinal. any spinning reel in a 2000-2500 size reel will be fine, plus they are lighter. Baitcast reels, what the others said. Like the others, read the articles provided here. They are very good and informative, and have helped me a lot over the years. Hope this helps.
