Matte vs Reflective baits
I make most my own soft plastics as a fun hobby, and for a couple of friends. I have a couple of Do-It cast aluminum stick bait molds that come out with more of a matte finish, and a couple higher end CNC aluminum molds that come out on the glossy/shiny side. I’ve caught fish with both and don’t think it matters much except in real clear water.

Soft Plastic Making Tips
It’s good to have. Once you introduce moisture into the plastisol, you can get air bubble. I use Bait Plastics 242 mostly and it’s fairly bubble free.

Bug molds web site
They're in the Ukraine. I'm not sure if they're effected by what's going on there.

Pouring soft plastics inside the house?
Not recommended. There’s a dude on the tube that does it off the back of his truck. Outside would be your best option.

Jig mold help
Awesome advice. Thank you very much! Have you had any experience with 3rd Island molds? I've seen a few of them, and they look like Shawn Collins molds, Are they the same guy?

Jig mold help
Yes sir. I have a pretty good source for lead. I can get it in 40lb blocks from work. I figured I could get an ingot mold and melt a block down at a time. I don't have experience pouring lead, but can run a torch and weld, and pour my own plastics

Jig mold help
I have a 10 lb Lee pot, and all of the stuff needed for tying as I have been buying naked jigs, powder coating and tying them up for a few months. I've already learned that you don't save money making lures, at least with shooting plastics anyway.

Jig mold help
What's everyone's favorite mold for flipping jigs? I've been tying my own but want to pour my own now and am a bit indecisive with the amount of options available. Any help would be great.

Starting Tackle Company and Looking for Glide Bait Advice
The best way is to make one and catch Donkeys with them and show pics on the FB swimbait groups and on IG. Swim videos, and videos of you catching fish on the will help too.

any good red suggestions?
I like Baitplastics Tomato. DOP Redrum is good too. If you want darker/brownish red color look at DOP Brick too. Those are the only reds that I've tried so far.

injecting plastics - leftover plug in injector
What size injector are you using. and how many molds are you looking to shoot at a time? The new Angling AI preimium injector is supposed to keep plastic warmer longer but it is spendy. The videos on it look cool, but the blending block looks annoying imo. The other way to not have a plug left over would be to get a shooting star, or jacobs injection machine which are expensive as well.

5" senkos with a 2 piece cnc mold - struggling
Pre-heating a mold shouldn't warp it. I have a toaster oven and put them in to warm them up in the winter. Try warming it up and shooting a few. A 3 oz injector should fill a 4 cavity stick bait mold. I have a 4 oz and have plenty left over. I also lube up my o-ring before I start shooting to make it run smoother. Basstackle has their injectors at a reduced price rn, if you want to get a 6oz. They're pretty good.

Anyone buy hand pour soft plastics?
I make my own open pours. I've made a few of my own molds but also have some swimbait molds from BTS. When I see a mold that I like, I buy a small cavity one to see if I I like it and then buy a larger cavity one if I do. I dolike to play around with blending durometers, salt, floating blends, etc. I don't sell any, but hand them out to kids that I see fishing, and a couple of buddies who fish a lot.

making your own plastics - couple questions
Most of the main mold makers offer tail molds for a lot of their molds, or as stated above shoot one color, cut the tail, place back in the mold and shoot next color. To make multi color laminates you can buy a laminate plate for the mold that you have if that maker makes it for that model, a dual/triple injector, or the tinfoil method (this is how i do it). Open pour molds allow more creativity and are a lot cheaper, but take some practice.

Discontinued Lures
You could make a silicon mold of them and make your own.

Alternative To Mend-It?
MEK will melt any area that it touches and keep going, plus it’s some nasty stuff. I used to use it as an additive frequently when I ran a chemical company.

What's the best $130 and below spinning rod??
I have a Kistler Graphite spinning rod. I liked it so much that I bought the other three rods in that line. There’s the Argon in that range too.

Bates Reels!?
I’ve wanted one for a while, but they’re spendy for a reel not named Shimano or Daiwa.

Recently moved to SC low country near MCAS Beaufort, looking for advice and fishing friends
Sorry I just saw this. Yes, I live in Cane Bay. The main lake has some good sized fish in it. There’s several neighborhoods that are connected by channels and I fish those quite a bit too. If you like bank fishing, the older ponds have some huge bass in them as well. I’m also 20 minutes from Lake Moultrie and Marion, and there’s some good river fishing here too.
