Pouring soft plastics inside the house?

Featured Replies

I dont have a garage and would like to dabble around making my own baits.  I have a 12 by 20 room with windows at the far end, ceiling has a  slope from say 7' to about 12' high.  Also has a set of sliding patio doors.

Would this room be sufficient to pour in?  I keep reading all these scary facts about the plastic so Im a bit worried to invest the money if its not feasible.

Hopefully I am just over thinking it.

TIA!

It probably isn’t a good idea.  I did it in the house once.  That definitely wasn’t a good idea.

I agree with Jig Man. I would never pour lead or plastic in a house. If you have a patio, pick a sunny day and pour outside. This would be a better solution in my opinion.

Not recommended. There’s a dude on the tube that does it off the back of his truck. Outside would be your best option.

So you guys are saying I should do this in the chemical hood in my lab?  Done.  Going to try my hand at making some dice baits.

Wow- melting down some Zoom baits puts off a lot of smoke.  Definitely do it in a ventillated area.  I'm going to wear a mask and do it outside.

Remelting injection molded soft plastics doesn’t work well as hand poured plastisol, different plastic that tends to harden.

Every hand poured home soft plastic guys I knew worked in there garage.
