  1. Oh man, thanks FC! I've had her for a few years and love that ride. I did what I could to pretty her up, but now the motor needs some additional work. ($$$) That should probably be done before I add a sonar, but I'm not sure when either will happen. For now, my over the side Fishin' Buddy does its job. And yeah, it is pretty minimal. Beautifully minimal! All aluminum decks too. No wood.
  2. So true. I just can't justify buying another one. Somebody should take advantage though! Outlet Bait & Tackle has them at $149 right now as well. (Overstockbait .com)
  3. Swamp Donkey's are coveted dude.

It's pretty easy to add color, or texture, to a frog with a Sharpie. I usually replicate the lines that the RI Bullfrog Swamp Donkey had on it's belly.
  5. I had that this am too. I planned to fill up my cart past $50 with Wacky jigs at the end; but they started disappearing from my cart and I couldn't add more. Oh well. I'm happy with what I got; especially the Alimony color! Thanks again NorthStar.
  6. Can you explain this tip breaking problem Snapperd1? I have the same situation as you Linehand. I put one of plastic, 4 tube, rod holders on the side of my console and it worked pretty well. But one time I did rear back on a cast and snagged the upright rods. Maybe that's what Snapperd1 is talking about. I was pretty conscious of them after that though. I just got a bunch of those Stick Jackets too. Just last week actually. My boat is still in winter storage, but those should make using the rod locker, and sliding rods under the front deck, a whole lot easier.
  7. Not that anyone would need a recommendation after this one but, yeah, this site is a good one; as is Joe the guy who runs it. You can't expect to shop here like you would TW, but it's worth it to check in from time to time. You just might catch a deal like when they had a bunch of Lake Fork plastics after the company changed from that old black & green packaging to the new white bags. My last order from them was a bunch of Storm BigBass Square cranks for around $2.50 a bait. More recently they had a weekend sale on Pflueger Patriarchs for about $160; the current version; swept handle; 6.4 and 7.1 models.

  9. Thanks BT. I actually check my junk folder often. Does it come from his @yahoo address? I added it to my contacts just in case. Gonna have to try out his Wacky Jigs this year.
  10. Hmmm. I've ordered from you several times but have never seen an email from Northstar.
  11. I recently acquired an Asaro and was pleasantly surprised. It seems like a solid reel. This one was new (meaning unfished) but required a few minor tweaks. But now I'm not sure the spool is spinning exactly right. (The other problem had nothing to do with the spool or internals at all.) I have no line on it, but when I spin it, the spool seems to stop rather quickly and also spins backward a couple revolutions at the end. So, for anyone who owns one, do you recall how freely your naked spool spun when you first got it? Also, they are supposed to have an audible Star Drag, right? This one does not. Thanks
  12. Joe's, in St. Paul, started carrying those Castaic swimbaits last year. About $12 if I remember correctly. Too big for my liking, but check 'em out. I'm sure they're elsewhere too. And yeah, I HATE getting my pricey buzzbaits bitten off by those dang things. You can see them stalking sometimes, and you know it's going to happen, but there's nothing you can do. I can't believe I've never actually seen one with a bait attached to it's jaw.
  13. The Lake Fork Tackle Craw Tube is pretty different. Their Hyper Freak is too, you just need to weight it pretty good. Be ready for some scent though.

I second the Keens. The Newport H2 specifically.
  16. I don't think what you're asking can be done. If you're in the water and your personal items are not secured in a waterproof case, you risk losing all of it. I go into the water with hip waders, but I always put my cell phone in a double Ziploc bag. If I land a fish that's worth taking a photo of, I head back to shore and use the camera in my backpack. But even with waders, you run the risk of stepping in a hole and getting water inside. Chest waders, with a tight belt, will give you better protection, but that's still not a grantee.
  17. Interesting. When fishing docks with a drop shot, do they get bit on the initial fall or after the weight hits bottom and you shake it around a bit? Also, anyone use the SWL Recoil Rig?
  18. Oops. That wasn't clear in the original post though. In fact, it said "giving some away FREE to a select group of lucky Bassresource.com users NOW". But thanks for letting those of who jumped the gun still enter. Cuz I'm sure I'm in that batch. Thanks again Pinnacle!
  19. Vision Lures HONEYBUZZ CLASSIC
  20. That's funny, because all I'd ever heard about was their braid! And, I know, I shouldn't judge the whole line on one product, but I couldn't help it. It just left a bad taste in my mouth, you know? I've really only heard great things about McCoy. If anyone's interested, they should definitely give it a test drive themselves.
  21. No dude, I was just commenting on the McCoy brand. I was using Mean Green Braid, not mono. But I've never broken 20lb PowerPro like I did on the McCoy Braid. I was using 20 & 30# on several different reels. One time, I got a bird nest and the lure went flying. :'( I lost all confidence in this brand.
  22. I picked up a used reel that was spooled with Mean Green and loved it. Loved it so much I bought several new spools and changed all my reels with PowerPro to Mean Green. And then I had more break offs last year than for the entire time I used PowerPro. I know it wasn't a bad spool either, because I used 3 different tests. Very disappointed with the Mean Green. I'll be going back to PowerPro.
  23. Nice. I couldn't find them on eBay myself. They company doesn't even have them.
