  1. Sure they do... http://www.fenwickfishing.com/prod.php?k=309835&sk=309671&p=PURECSS72M-F%20(1130945) And if you Google it you get lots of stuff like... "The stroking technique benefits from a special blank design that makes the tip rebound, then dampens quickly allowing the competitive angler more strokes per minute. Pro's know more strokes, like more casts, improve the chances to win. Soft touch paint on the back blank section of the rod reduces wear on an angler hands, resulting in less fatigue. This rod is cosmetically easy to identify when switching rods in a hurry, with a unique SS icon on the butt cap. The Texas rigged bait hook-keeper saves time re-rigging."

  3. The MNR wants to ensure that the bass are off the beds before any anglers can target them. The MN bass opener is May 29, by the way. (5/15 for Walleye.) And anyone who fishes here knows full well that the bass are not off the beds by that time. Many of the females are gone, probably most, but the males are left for a few weeks. So why do they let folks take the males off the bed leaving an unguarded nest? Isn't that almost as bad for the population as taking a pre-spawn female? It's been my experience that the folks who obey the laws are almost always the ones who treat the fish with the most respect; land them properly, remove bait skillfully and return them to the water as fast as possible. Every year, in the metro, I'm asked, at least twice, by someone on the bank if he can have the fish I just landed. The licensed anglers are not the ones damaging the bass population in MN. The guys that take bass home do it before the opener and then after the opener; they don't care either way. This law drives me nuts! It targets the wrong people. I'll stop now though; because I know this rant is mostly brought on by the recent warm weather and the fact that I still have 69 days before I can start fishing again.
  4. Wow man, sorry to hear that. I'd be trippin' too. Do you have a tackle shop in your area? Guys there are usually good for a couple tips on local waters. I also found this post, on Beaverdam Creek Reservoir and Ashburn Village Lakes, from 2008, by doing a search... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1208183317/9

    Ribbit. Ribbit. Stanley Ribbit.
  6. The Tiki Shadick is the only Wave bait I would consider using again. I definitely don't think the Tiki Sticks work as good as Senkos. They do have some unique colors though. It's pretty tough plastic too. Sounds like you got some new baits to try out for a great price. Good luck man!

  8. I see a lot of fish follow chatterbaits but, like Maltese said, when they hit they get hit hard. Bass seem to get mad at them more than anything. I think they're fun to fish. But that's what I'm into; not tournament money or anything.
  9. TW has the "Hot Item" list on the front page. The 5 plastics on there right now are serious bass catchers. I've used them all, except for the Flick Shake worm. You sound like a big spender, just get a few of each.
  10. Merry friggin' Christmas! ;D
  11. I decided to add a few of these to my basket the last time I picked up some jigs at Overstock Bait & Tackle. http://www.overstockbait.com/carolina_rigs_p/lft-cmr.htm You can tell they're old, but they seem all right. Haven't used them yet, but think they will be handy to have should the need arise. Plus it's got a Lake Fork Trophy Lure at the end of it already.
  12. Thanks FIT! I looked at the *** store and found his version. He calls it a Multi Jig & rigged it up with everything from a Kut Tail to a Flappin' Hog. I kind of liked the big a** lizard idea actually. I appreciate the tip. I'm now more interested in hearing from some folks who have used this rig before. I know Dozer has a lot of fans here. To be honest, I like his screw-in keeper much better; but I'd love to hear from anyone who has used this type of set-up.
  13. Saw these on eBay and thought it was interesting. The trailer sits on top of the skirt, rather than in it. Trailer also serves as the weed-guard because you sort of T-rig it. http://www.kingcolebaits.com/media/pdfs/fang.pdf or
  14. I say it's bass "A" ! jk
  15. The smaller ones are killer as a swimjig trailer.
  16. I voted for the X-Tools one as well. I haven't used any of the others, but Ive been happy with the X-Tools scale. Really like that it floats. I know some guys calibrate their scales, but I have no need to do that. I trust the readout. Wait a minute. Now that I think about it, I know I used to catch a lot bigger fish before I got this scale. Maybe something is wrong!
  17. While there are a few brands I most certainly prefer, at $5, it's worth your while to pick up a BPS frog and check it out yourself. That's what I'll do next time I'm in one. A 7' MH with rod should be fine. Just remember what the folks here just said: wait a couple seconds to set the hook. It's hard not to snap your rod up when you see a surface explosion; it'll take some practice. I still have to concentrate myself. But with braid, it's easy to yank your frog right from the bass' mouth and miss completely. That's usually my "hook up problem".
  18. You need to look at those boats again my man. 3 out of 5 have exactly what you asked for. You're probably not far from St. Anthony, right? It looks like that Sea Nymph is at a dealership. Go check it out this weekend before you see the fiberglass boat. Seriously. I think it will help you out a lot.
  19. Aluminum boats, in my opinion, are easy to maintain and tougher on the water (and ramp). Plus, they're a lot lighter, so trailering and storing is easier. They float a little higher on the water too.
  20. I looked at that other boat. Pretty neat looking, I think. However, like SimpleJoe said, a rotten floor should make you worried about a rotten transom. I also thought it was an aluminum boat at first, but after looking at the bottom, it must be fiberglass. Could be heavy. Go check it out though. Walk all over it. Any soft spots, or bends the floor, will be rot. P.S. I agree -
  21. I wouldn't hand over any cash until you can actually stand on that boat for yourself. Make sure it's solid and then look at storage. While it might not seem important now, you'll need space for essentials like fire extinguisher, anchor, rope, navigation lights, spare oar and PDFs. Add to that your tackle, a few 7' rods & two people and that boat will be full. Not un-useable, not un-fishable, just full. Your rods will be in the way sometimes. The advantages are that it's light so easy to tow and store. And, most importantly, it will get you out on the water and at a reasonable price to boot. But try to be realistic do you really want to be looking for another new boat in a couple of years? Or have to sell a 15 footer then? Does it come with a spare tire for the trip back? It doesn't look like it has a trolling motor either. Batteries? That's pretty important. There are a lot of metro lakes that are trolling motor only. There's another $3-400 right there.
  22. You got your answer, right? You can use that rod for everything you asked about. It will serve you very well. Great purchase. I love my Fenwicks.
  23. Love the hair legs but don't love the blade. Seems a little heavier than the other frogs I throw, so long casts are easy. The weight is placed in a way that makes the Furbit sit very nicely in the water, pointing up, while at rest. You probably won't be disappointed with this one. If you're not down with paying $11 + for a frog, wait a bit; I've seen them on sale at TW for $8.99. I've yet to try the Poppin' Furbit, but I'm pretty excited too!
  24. You don't have children, Vinny, do you. :-? Hey, I still check the listings for kicks every now & again. If I happen to see something worthwhile, I'll PM you; but you really should be checking every day yourself. Once Spring Fever hits (fishing, not baseball) prices are going to shoot up. If you see something you're at all I interested in - call. I just happened to call the guy I got my boat from within 2 hours of him posting it. In 3 days it was in my driveway. You have to be diligent because, like I said, the good deals go fast. And if you didn't know, like I didn't, no title for boats under 16'. Trailer has one though. And lifetime plates transfer to new owner of trailer. That's a bonus to look out for.
