Gotta blow off some steem!
Fishing is funny man. I have fished my whole life and I have been fishing tournaments for 10 years. When it comes to fishing for money things become complicated. Years back when I was the newest and youngest member in the club and we all went out of town for a tournament it turned into bash the new guy night. I was upset then realized I am going to have to let my fishing do the talking. Two of my best friends are REALLY good sticks on SML neither would tell you so much as to what lb test they had spooled. I know some are going to think that is absolutely horrible and in some ways it is. They are still my best friends but I know there is a fine line in the sand drawn when it comes to fishing. You just have to stay after it. Keep putting things together and it will come. Keep a journal and include everything in it. Weather, water temp, what worked, what did not, times your catches occurred etc. Refer back to it often in the coming years. Over time you will put it together. In tournament fishing you have very few true friends. I was lucky enough to get started with a really good mentor. He taught me alot. Several back surgeries though and it is just to much for him to venture onto SML in a boat. Since that time I have been pretty much on my own. This is where BR comes in. You can come on here and read what is working for others. How they break things down and if it suits your type/style of fishing you can try it and see if it works for you. Always keep learning and trying different things. Find your own water or create your own because very few tournament anglers are going to share it with you. Do not listen to a bunch of dock talk. Fish to your strengths. What works for one guy may never work for you. After awhile you will develop a great BS filter. Respect other peoples water. Have fun. Everyone wants to do well. Even though you are fishing for $ it is still supposed to be fun. Always use every outing as a learning experience and build upon your knowledge base. Nothing beats that feeling of coming across the parking lot with a big sack. Once you have done that a time or 2 you will find a certain level of respect has been achieved. Your fishing has done the talking! :::throwing my cents in the jar and getting down off the soap box now:::

Anybody here had a vasectomy?
Dude! follow everyone's advice. Chill this weekend....sit on your peas. Do not lift anything at all or you will have to lift your "boyzzz" to get them into the tub! Heal up quick brother.......you have the fish off next weekend! The way that Gambler likes to smack the water.......you might want to bring some peas next weekend too!

The one hit coves?
I have several like that on SML. Certain times of the year you can hit em and load the boat. The rest of the time it a complete waste of time. I do however have 2-3 spots thats good for a fish everytime. No rhyme nor reason to any of them.......just glad to get what I can when I can. :-?

Saw this while fishing today.....
One time I was wading and I almost stepped on a rock which turned out to be a dead beaver. Yeah, I know that "ewww, icky!!" feeling. years back I used to love to frog gig. One night @ 2am I felt something brush against my leg while wading frogging this golf course pond. Looked almost like this.

Arby's.....
Have you ever been to Five Guys? I heard of their menu and they don't seem like they have much. We have one about to open up in the promenade that was just built. How's their food? It's a burger joint. They have burgers and fries. And hot dogs on the kids menu. Their burgers are AWESOME and so are their fries. Alas, no Five Guys either in Roanoke. Roanoke is lost in time.

Copperheads
Here is my rule on snakes. I have a 4 year old and usually come across them when mowing or weed eating. Mr. Snake has 10 seconds to be positively identified as friend or foe. If it is not established in 10 seconds its curtains!! I don't play with no snakes! I live in a somewhat rural area and have a creek in my backyard. I truly believe I only have copperheads to worry about. Although my best friend lives on top of the mountain above my house. It is 1/2 mile as the crow flies. I was told along time ago that rattlesnakes mate for life and they may split up for several days but always track each other back down. My friend on the mountain has killed this year a 52' a couple days later in almost the same place a 54' a 36' week before last and a 40' last week in the same area as the 36. The NC Aquarium in Manteo has a Canebreak rattlesnake on display there. It was the first one I have seen in person and not on TV. That thing is so big it will give you nightmares!
