  1. Personally I never choose to use or not use a any product because of a professionals endorsment or name on the product. However that being said; I have and continue to use the input and opinions on products given by the members of this forum to help me decide what I use. This place is LOADED with VERY knowledabe folks who are eager to help.
  2. All baits that have bottom contact
  3. A great reel for the money
  4. War Eagle and Gander mtn
  5. Nodda, "Is this true, Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra-Soft 6lbs = 11.9lb test?" yes it's true, it's pretty tuff stuff.
  6. Thats about a good ratio. And please don't take this the wrong way; BUT It always make me smile when I see a guy pulling a 20ft ranger, skeeter, etc with a rusty old beat up truck. It's nice to see his priority's are similar to mine.
  7. Lots of variables here that aren't given, But to give the short answer to your two questiones posted.(1)"Will Fluro Increase My Hookup Ratio W/ Soft Plastics?" Yes it probley will help some.(2) "If anything will Fluro decrease my performance?" No, not likely
  8. IMO, 3 rods is really all the average angler needs. I have several rods and take 5-8 with me on tournament days. Out of those 5-8, I usually don't fish more than 2 or 3 for 3/4 of the tournament. I like to have a rod rigged and ready for unsuspected situations. I don't like to take time to retie in a tourny- time spent changing lures is time not spent catching fish. same here X3
  9. Ditto to what dodge guy said. In addition to that; when fishing with some baits they will spin when reeling them in. This will cause pretty bad line twist no matter what line or reel you use. With both mono or flouro carbon lines it helps some to soak the filler spool in warm water prior to spooling it on reel. Also it helps a great deal if after you spool it on, open your bail and walk off most of the line.(about 70 yds) Tie the loose end to a tree or something rigid and go back to your rod an give the line a pretty good stretch for a bout 30 sec or so. Then reel it back on the spool with nothing on the end of the line but keep some tension on the line with your free hand while reeling. In my own personal opinion, its pretty hard to beat yozuri ultra soft #6 for spinning gear.
  10. When I'm not fishing for bass I prefer crappie
  11. Weightless senkos are often swallowed by bass if your not carefull. I doubt your doing anything wrong. My guess is your dealing with panfish or very small bass.
  12. I agree 8lb is no longer ultra light. For ultra light I like Yozuri ultra soft #4 in green. The clear shows up in some clear water conditions. The green is much less visable in all water conditions.
  13. Very accurate for short distance casting, such as with small to medium weight spinnerbaits. However that being said, I've owned two of these rods (both bought about 5 yrs. ago) and both of them developed line grooves cut into the tip eye.
  14. Bigger, deeper, and slower are the keys to bigger fish. X2
  15. I believe your question refered mainly to the Avid series. (In my humble opinion)Yes they are a little stouter than many others of the same power designation. I have several Avid Medium extra fast rods and love them. They fish about like a MH of most other rods, But they have a much faster tip. I also have a Medium fast crucial thats a good rod. Not as heavy action as the medium avid, also not as light, or as sensitive as the Avid.
  16. As I understand; your issue is when deploying your motor from the locked down position when you want to put it into the water. Uneven tightening this mount will cause it to bind every time. You can however trouble shoot it pretty easy to determine if thats the problem. When standing on the bow, instead of pulling up or back and your rope pull the rope down toward your deck. If the lock releases easier that way, then your mount is over tightened on one or more of your mounting bolts. Not all Bass Boat bows are created equal. An uneven mounting area can also cause this and will need some shimming under the bracket. With no mounting bolts tightened the mount should sit flat, no gaps under it, and it shouldn't rock when pressing lightly front or back. Sometimes just loostening one bolt at a time will show you the culprit area.
  17. Unplug your lights befor puting them in the lake. Allways raise your motor befor backing into the water, AND before taking it out. Go slow at first, have fun!
  18. With this boat if you have less than a 25 or 30hp you will not get up on plane. Meaning your bow will always be "plowing" water. You'll have a slow, bumpy, wet ride. Additionally a smaller HP will be working very hard and burning gas like crazy. A 15 or under would be ok for trolling. You'll be disapointed with an underpowered boat.
  19. I have one on my crestliner, it works fine unless the water is real rough or I'm running over about 35mph. If you try and fish with rods still in them you'll break something, get backlashes, and do lots of cussing. I mostly use mine for pliers, pike jaw spreaders, knife, etc.
  20. Largemouth,10" or 11" texas rigged worms. Smallmouth, spinner baits and tubes.
  21. I always start with a jig, if they won't eat it or i'm snaggin' too much then I'll try a creature. I just like fishn a jig more.
  22. Ha Ha Ha, I got fooled. I'm 63 and though you were looking for "old guys" on here.
  23. yep, Moss Boss. Thanks alot guys thats it!
  24. Please help me find the name of a bait. I don't have a picture but I'll try and describe it. It's a topwater bait for fishing in slop or weeds. It's somewhat similar to the old Johnson minnows. It's a concave metal spoon type bait with rubber strands off the back like the legs on a spro frog. It's extemely weed proof and is used in the same applications as a frog would be used. the one I seen was green frog colored.I believe that Moss, Slop, or Rat maybe part of the name. Thanks for any help.
