small mouth lure colors
Any darker color or lighter color is good, as long as it's a tube.

Difference between quality spinning reel..and crap
For me the first thing that comes to mind is user friendly. Spinning reels are known for line twist and tangles. The better quality spinning reels do a much better job controling line twist problems. They also last much longer.

Don't ruin your outboard
>:(Fellow Anglers and friends. There are still many boat owners who know nothing of the potential dangers of using gas containing ethanol blend fuel in thier outboards. Please help to warn everyone. More on the ethanol issue 5/7/2009 Yamaha recently released an update on the ethanol issue. Remember that Growth Energy and 54 ethanol manufacturers recently requested a waiver from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to raise the ethanol-blend ceiling in gasolines from 10% to 15%. That's important for boaters because even 10% ethanol blends can seriously damage engines through water buildup. But 15% could spell outboard disaster. In April, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) outlined its opposition to increased ethanol at a hearing on Capitol Hill. More recently, Yamaha VP of operations and planning Ben Speciale said in a letter to outboard owners: "Building outboards compatible with fuel containing 15% or more ethanol is technically possible. The real problem is that there are a lot of older outboards currently in service that cannot run on fuel that contains more than 10% ethanol. If the EPA rules in favor of this wavier application, hundreds of thousands of boaters will suffer the consequences." Fishing participation is already in great decline. Should the ethanol cap increase and thus outdate older outboards, it could push hundreds of thousands more away from the sport. The EPA is currently collecting public comment on the proposed waiver. To comment, visit www.Regulations.gov and enter docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2009-0211.

Lowrance H2O c ....worth the extra cash?
I've had both and had the "Lakemaster" chip in both. The H20 is easyer to see in sunlight. The H20c (in my opinion) is worth the extra money if you use it on land also. The differant colors of high land versus low land is nice. Also the public vs privite land color is also nice. Regardless which one you get, buy a plastic screen protector. The screens are prone to scratches.

How to fish a Chatter
Here's how I fish them. Tie on a 6" or 8" wire leader and cast it along weed beds. Pike think they are candy! In my opinion they are a much better pike bait than a bass bait.

Super Spooks or Super Spook Jr.'s?
Go BIG if your going to use a Spook. If you want more numbers of fish I'd use a pop-r or a chug bug. I never did as good with a smaller spook. Color isn't important, they only see the bottom of it untill they are in the boat. A dark color for cloudy or dirty water, a light color for sunny, or clear water. Good Fishn'

Shimano Clarus Advice?
I have a 6'6" med clarus spinning rod. I like shimanoo rods and love thier reels. But to be honest my clarus rod is the one thing from shimanoo that I'm dissapointed in. I think there a quite a few other rods in the same price range that are lighter, more senative, and funner to fish with. Just my opinion and my experiance. Good Fishn'

Hook up problems

Born again?
I'm sure you'll get some more detailed responses. But to simplify and answer your question;Yes you will have to re-think things just a little untill you learn the lake. First thing I would do is look for a shallower flat hopefully with reeds, stones, or some rocks. Then I fish chug bugs in the mornings and toss or drag tubes and grubs when it isn't too windy. In the wind smallies LOVE spinner baits or in-line spinners like a mepps. Good luck, your in for a treat if you haven't caught smallies before.

Weightless Fluke Fishing?
In clear water, same set up but only 10lb leader and no swivel. In grass, weeds,or dirty water no leader just tie braid directly to your wide gap hook. Good Fishn'

Trail Cameras
This isn't about fishing, but I've learned to depend and trust the good responses and advice from the knowlegable and friendly people of this forum. Also I suspect that many of you good fisherman here are also all-round outdoorsman. I know some trail cameras come with a built in viewer, mine does not. So for those of you who use other methods to view your trail cam pics, what do you use to see you pics if your camera takes a SD type card? I'd like to be able to view my pics while still in the woods. As always, thanks for your input

Removable casting deck for 12' jon boat?
One thing to keep in mind anytime dealing with aluminum and plywood or any treated wood is: several years ago many "treated" wood processes changed. Much of the pressure treated woods now contain a type of copper chemical. Constant contact between this wood and aluminum causes corrosion that will eventually eat thru the aluminum. Untreated lumber or "marine" grade plywood is the best way to go.

yo-zuri question
#12 yo-zuri ultra soft for all you mentioned. Good all round stuff.

Daiwa Tierra and Advantage spinning?
For what it's worth last year I bout two diawa tierra spinning reels, also an excell spinning reel. For the money, the tierras were the worst money ever spent. IMHO the symetre is twice the reel for less money. The bails on both tierras often times closed on a hard cast. Line twist was also more common than on my less expensive shimanoo reels. The are pretty though.

spinning reel - what pound line?
I certainly would not start out a novice with braid; too expensive and too hart to untangle. Yozuri ultra soft #6 is plenty tough, very user friendly, and won't break your wallet. Good stuff.

Why do I only catch little ones?
From what you have described I'd say your problem isn't the bait your using or where you are fishing. I think your dealing with clear water, and big smallies are very cautious in clear water. In a river system you have light diffusion caused by ripples from the current so stealth isn't quite as important. But on a lake, unless it's pretty windy you stick out like a sore thumb. In most cases they will see you long before you see them. Once they see you it's dang tough to get them to bite. My advice, spinning gear, clear or light green 6lb test line, move quiet and LONG casts. Good luck, keep trying.

Advantage with short rod?
A longer rod for moving fish faster or longer casts. A shorter rod for better control and more casting acuracy.
-
Megastrike and Braid.
I have one rod set up for flipping jigs in rough crap. 50lb power pro with no leader. I actually smear megastrike on about the first three feet of line up from the jig so it dosen't drag as hard on wood. I've never had a problem with the megastrike hurting the line.

What is the best hand held GPS unit?
I've had several models of a couple brands. The one I have now does it all for me, on land and the water, all year long. H2OC (color) with lakemaster chip. Use only good lithium batteries and by all means get a cheap plastic screen saver. The screens will scratch otherwise. You won't be sorry.

Avid - Med or Med Heavy?
6'6" m if you already have the 6' 3"mxf.

Spinnerbaits and Trailer hooks
Spinner bait always a trailer hook unless in terrible, nasty thick, horrible tangly, clingy sloppy weeds. Buzzbait, always a trailer hook and sometimes if they are missing I'll piggy back two or even three trailer hooks.

What is your best color in a Rat'L Trap?
Red craw in stained water, Blue chrome in clear water
