Need Help This Place Has Got Me Baffled.
I agree totally with nitro. I'd use a french fry, probley something like cotton candy color or other natural tone. Smear or dip your favorite scent (I like megastrike), and carolina rig it with at least a 2 foot lead. Fish it VERY slow and feel for a tic or some weight.

Fishing Reeds
Early or sparse reeds it's tough to beat a spinnerbait. Later in summer when reeds get thicker and tough I use a white swim jig on braid.

"most Durable" Craw Plastic?
The toughest most durable I've ever used is manufatured and sold by a small company called "cormorant lures" . They can be found on the internet and in a few bait shops in michigan and northern wisconsin. I use them if the bite is hot, otherwise I use netbait.

Fishing Video Cam ?
I'd like to start filming some fishing videos. Nothing proffesional, just amature and fun,for entertainment and instructional purposes. As most of the time I'll be filming myself I'm assuming a "hat cam" type camera would be a good place to start, then I can also use it to film hunts. If anyone has experiance with this type camera or has any tips I'd really appreciate any help or feedback I can get on brands, models, types,or places to buy from. Thanks a bunch

Does One's Rod Length Affect The Amount Of Fish Hooked?
Well first off the simple answer to your question (Does One's Rod Length Affect The Amount Of Fish Hooked?) in my humble opinion the quick answer is NO. As far as the two rods you speak of, I doubt the ugly stick will be any improvment over the rod you are using. The ugly sticks have a soft slow tip action, ok for moving baits but not great for contact baits. You would be much better off for the same $$$ to get an inexpensive Med Heavy graphite rod designed for the type reel your using(spinning vs casting). It apears in your text you have a very awkward and mis-match combo ie;(The reel I have is a Bass Pro Shops Mega-cast (Spinning), my Daiwa Millionaire Classic casting rod,) Rod length does make some differance in casting, flipping, skipping, etc, as well as hooksets but it's mostly a personal prefferance thing. And by the way, I'm shorter than you are, of the 10 rods I use my longest bass rod is 6'8". My favorite is 6'3" and I also use some from 5'9" to 6'6". Using these rods Iv'e never had a problem hooking or landing bass of any size. Good luck and let us all know how your choices turn out.

Question On Palomar Knot
I use a palomar knot most often but not always, it's a good knot when tied properly. ALWAYS wet your mono or flouro or copoly no matter what knot you tie. As far as how much tag to leave; I typically leave a much longer tail than most. I leave 1/2 inch on any hook and a full inch or more on cranks, spinner baits,or top waters. The longer tag not only won't slip, but more important is flexable enough to bend and not collect weeds, slime, or other debris that at times plagues a knot. Try this just one trip fishing and you'll be amazed at how clean of crap your knot stays.

Is everyone on this board a senko freak?
Sencos are a bass catching tool. So are spinnerbaits, topwater baits, jigs, and crankbaits. I could go on and on. Sometimes sencos are the best tool to accomplish the task (catch bass). Sometimes other baits in your arsenal will work better. Like vise grips, they are convienent and handy and easy to learn. But sometimes a screwdriver or a hammer works better. I'm not knocking senco type baits, but they arn't always the best option.

Problems With Jig Fishing
As others have said, set the hook as soon as you detect a bite. In my humble opinion, and what helped me alot when learning to fish a jig was to add scent to your jig. The fish WILL hold on longer giving you more time to swing. I sometimes use megastrike on my trailer, also have a home brew of garlic and craw I sometimes use.You may be getting very small bass biting or even panfish. There is no cure for that other than moving. Keep trying, good luck.

Jigging - Very New To Me
Your just starting out fishing a jig so I'll keep the answer short and simple. Don't overthink it or make it tougher than it is. Your skill and equipment will grow as you do it and learn. As mentioned above think crawdad. Keep bottom contact, use compact jigs 3/8 or less (more bites to learn on), GET RID of the vanish (vanish will eventually break your heart) and go with #12 to #15 copoly or flouro. Copoly I use yo-suri ultra soft and for flouro I use segaur invisex but everyone has their favs. Be persistent, keep your line in the water, fish slow! Good luck

Smallmouth Questions
Smallmouth relate much more to current than largemouth do. All rivers and most lakes have some current. Wind causes most current in lakes so fish points or wind blown shorelines. River fish are behind a restrictive obsticall like logs, rocks or a back wash from a point, or a deep hole. Smallies love rocks, the bigger the better. Most smallies will eat a grub on a jig head or a tube. The good ole mepps spinner, after all these years will still catch you a bunch of smallies and they make a good search bait. Goood luck

Docks
In those conditions, if you see them they also see you. It's more important that you skip from a longer distance than the bait your tossing. That being said; under those conditions it's dang hard to beat a white or pearl super fluke skipped in weightless on a 5/0 wide gap.

Anyone Still Use The Simple, Old Style, Jig Trailers? If So When?
What Smalljaw said. In addition to that; I always start with a craw and if i'm not getting bit or the claws are just getting nipped off I switch to a chunk. It's less action and more subtle appearance will often do the trick. Have fun jiggn'
