Most Memorable Fights (with a fish)
I have a few. One would have to be when I tail hooked an 8lb Coho Salmon. It got tail hooked in the leadcore line (300ft of lead filled dacron+ 50ft leader + 75-100ft of line out to the board). I made a huge first run and almost spooled me. I could see the black of the spool. Well we didnt start counting the time until maybe 15-20mins into the fight but nearly an hour later after we started counting the time we finally got the fish in the boat. I thought this was going to be a new PB fish of 20lbs that I have been looking for. I remember it well because I was dead tired after getting the fish in.

Need Advice on Waders
Check out Dicks Sports if there is one by you. They often have a good sale on Breathables. Check out the Hodgmen Wadelites. I use Cablela's Premium Dry-Plus Breathables and they have been good so far. Watch for sales currently at BPS and Cabelas for waders.

What got you hooked?
My dad likes to fish so that helped get me started. My first fish was a nice little 14" bass. Which was a huge fish to me at the time. I think I must have been 4 or 5. I didnt really catch the fishing bug until I was old enough to go out fishing on Lake Michigan. As I got older I spent more time on Lake Michigan with my grandpa. I would go up to his boat with him every weekend in the summer and sometimes for a couple days. When we were not out on the lake trolling for salmon or perch fishing I would roam the harbor catching bluegills and nice bass. My largest smallie and largemouth both came from Lake Michigan. 12 or 13 years later from my first fish here I am addicted more then ever.

Plastics Rod
First off I would like to say thanks! I dont fish brush piles all that often and when I do I think I will use the combo I have now. Its a heavier rod with braid. So I would fish basically only weeds and maybe rocks with this set up. I would also like to possibly throw senkos with this combo.

Rage Products Questions
I have the rage craw. Havent really used it but it has good action. I plan on tossing it more this year. Along with other rage tail baits.
-
Plastics Rod
Was wondering what action and power would be good for fishing plastics?. I would use it for T rigs and jigs mostly but could possibly use it for carolina rigs but that would be rarely unless I get into fishing them. I fish weeds most of the time but fish rocks and brush sometimes.

Cabelas Prodigy Reels
Anyone ever use Cabelas Prodigy Reels? I know that Daiwa makes them. I was wondering how they hold up and if they are any good.
-
Sebile
Anyone use Sebile lures? I saw the Magic Swimmer in action and it looked like a pretty sweet bait. Had good action.

Where Is That Bass Pro Spring Classic Flyer?

Wildlife encounters
I seem to be a snake magnet. Every year I run into a snake of some sort. Let me tell you I am not fan of snakes. I was standing on the bank of a river casting and something fell out of my vest. When I went to pick it up I noticed 2 snakes looking up at me from a hole in the rock. Made me jump. Another time same area I was reeling in a small bluegill that I hooked and had a snake following right behind it with its mouth open. I ended up running up the bank with the bluegill still on my line. Now when I look back on it I should have let that snake have it. Would have been cool to watch it eat a bluegill.

River Fishing Smallies
This year I really want to try fishing rivers for smallies. I bought a pair of waders last year and want to get some use out of them this year. I have only used them probably 3 times. That was up in Wisconsin's Driftless Area. I was wondering what would you recommend for smallies. What kind of setup and what baits? Thanks!

"plastic worm, weightless"
Senkos, zoom trick worm, finesse worms, and culprit and power worms. Let them sink all the way to the bottom. I get alot of my hits when i have a culprit worm falling. Remember to watch your line!

Fishing the summer Hydrillia/Coontail..ideas, advice, tips??? Chime in!!!
Sounds like the lake I fish at. I find that I catch most of my fish fishing the edges where the weeds are taller then the other. I like to toss a weightless worms along those. I like to crawl my baits right on top. Also I like to run spinnerbaits over the top of the deeper grass and rip crankbaits. You will be pulling alot of weeds off you crankbaits but it does produce fish for me.

Been missing...
I agree most likely they are bluegills or they could be rockbass if they are in the water you are fishing and especially if you are fishing in rocks.

New Line
I agree Suffix Elite. I put it on for the first time this year and have nothing bad to say about it. It is great line.

Topwater lovers checkin
I would definitely suggest a buzzbait and a frog. Jitterbugs are great too. Also Strike King makes a good popper that I have had good success on. Something that makes alot of commotion and noise.

looking for a good baitcast reel but low budget.
I have a Quantum Accurist 2 and it is a great reel. No complaints. Cabelas has them for $60 if you wanted to spend a little more you could get a Quantum Accurist PT for $80 right now as they are being discontinued also. Both Quantum and Shimano are discontinuing good reels.

Premium rods and reels for children?
I am 16 myself and started using baitcasting equipment a few years ago and just recently started getting higher ended equipment. I just recently bought myself a Shimano Crucial. I agree though if a kid relizes the importance of being careful with higher end equipment and really likes fishing then I see no problem with them owning high end equipment. A video game will entertain you for a couple hours or a couple of days while fishing will entertain you for a lifetime.

Spinning Reel for Crucial
I am going to wait and save up so I can get a better reel. So now I am thinking it will be between the Daiwa TD Advantage or Tierra and the Shimano Stradic FI.

Funny "newbie" fishing mistakes
When I first started out with baitcasters I was casting and doing pretty well. I moved to a new spot and went to cast without realizing my surroundings and put my x rap in the bush behind me and went to cast. Nastiest backlash I ever had.
