best bang for your buck
There are plenty of citica fans out there. But a tour edition for the SMS price as a citica is a no brainer. I bought a citica and just didn't like it at all. I gave it to my buddy. They work fine but are big and many are noisy

best bang for your buck
There is no question that the best bang for your buck is the quantum Tour Edition half price from cabelas. If you are looking at quantum then go with the tour edition or energy pt over the ones you listed. They are nearly half off at cabelas and are great performers. Out of the ones you listed, I would go revo sx or curado. If you consider my recommendations then I would put the tour edition with the revo as tops. You just can't beat a $240 reel for $129!!! Btw-I have 2 codes and like them fine but you can't justify buying them when these others are on sale.

Need advice on lines!
The 2 that are far superior to any others are Sufix and Power Pro. Stay away from Fireline. I have switched from PP to Sufix but both are good. For baitcaster, 50lb has been much better than 30 for me. 20 and 30 works well for spinning gear.

Quantum Tour Edition PT Rod at Walmart for 39.99?
I just called my Wal marts in town and they don't have the PT Energy and i have never seen them in a Wal Mart. But if it is the split grip one, I would buy a half dozen of them. very good rods.

fun with my little emily tonight
I don't think it is safe to have that cute little thing around some of the bass you catch

bps extreme versus pro qualifier
I have heard great things about Fenwick. However, I personally do NOT like the lower end Shimano rods. I am sure some people like them but I am not one.

bps extreme versus pro qualifier
The extreme rods are tough and have plenty of backbone. I have caught several 10lbers, many 8-25 pound redfish, hundreds of 6-12lb hybrids, and a big cat or two with my extreme rods. Many of them on Med. action and many of them on MH. These rods have power. These are great rods but many folks on this board are comparing them to $150+ rods. they aren't going to be as light as a Carrot Stick or as sensitive as a Loomis BUT they will catch just as many fish for a heck of a lot cheaper. I actually have several loomis rods(older models), All Stars, 2 Falcon Lowriders(actually one was stolen), 2 quantums, and now 3 American Rodsmiths. I have a house on the lake and fish atleast 3 days a week and often more. I use my extremes more than any of them. However, i am really loving my PTs and American Rodsmiths. But anyway, you got plenty of options in the $100 range. The extremes, Quantum PT Energy, Fenwick, All Star, and some Falcons. they are all good and will put fish in the boat. For an all around rod, i would go with the M. For big texas rigged worms and jigs a MH would be my preference. Buy the med now and in a paycheck or 2 pick up a MH. these rods go on sale all the time. I never buy an extreme at full price.

There are a lot of extreme fans on this board. I am one of them. I just don't know about the pro qualifiers.

Lets talk High Speed reels....."burners"
I know what you mean about the Codes. I bought 2 of them for really no reason. Just wanted to try them. Out of the box they were very rough feeling. I could feel the gears and was not smooth at all. However, after a little greese on the gears and some Hot sauce, they are smooth now. Hopefully they will stay that way. I was pretty disappointed at first but now I kind of like them.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Can they pull a bass boat? I am thinking about getting a 4 door but I am worried about towing my boat. I don't care about gas as I am lucky to have a company car with free gas. So I will only be hunting and fishing with it.

Lake Erie Guide Recommendations....
Thanks, His website looks very professional. The rates are much cheaper than what I usually pay for other trips. I am very interested. Hopefully my fishing buddy is up for it. If not, I may have to find a BR member wanting to try for some smallies.

bps extreme versus pro qualifier
I have no idea why BUT I have heard very few good things about qualifiers and a lot of good things about the extremes. I have 10 or so extremes and think they are great. They aren't the lightest or the most sensitive BUT they are light enough and sensitive enough.

g. loomis glx ?
I have the DSR820S GLX Dropshot rod and I HIGHLY! recommend it! For dropshotting and shakey heads, it's hard to beat. JMHO. Ronnie x2 My buddy has 2 of these and I have used it plenty of times. Its a great rod...light and sensitive.

Smallmouth Crankbaits...
Thanks, I have a lot of the DTs but not any shad raps. I only have 3 of these crankbaits left and they are no longer made. I hade four this weekend until my brother in law launched one 30 ft into a tree!! Storm now makes the wiggle warts but they aren't as good.

Quantum Energy Rods
Your going to be very surprised at how light these rods are. I will also be surprised if you don't love the rod. The split grip is very comfortable and I assume contributes to the lightness of the rod. I prefer 7' rods simply because they move more line on the hookset. When fishing deep, i feel I may get a little advantage by having a 7 over a 6'6" but both will work. Let me know how you like it. I have bought a lot of new gear this year and these rods have been the biggest surprise of them all.

Graduation Fishing Trip

Quantum Energy Rods
Are you talking about the new Energy PT split grip rods? If so, they are fantastic and $70 is a good deal. I have 2 of these rods a 7'm and a 7'MH. I actually started a thread a few months ago about them bc I was so impressed. These rods are light, sinsitive, and have great action. In my last thread I stated that they were one of the more underrated rods. The biggest difference between these and higher end models is the sensitivity. The PTs have the feel and action of a higher end rod but lack some of the sensitivity. Dont get me wrong, you can feel the bottom well and will have no problem detecting strikes. Some people don't like a split grip. I have no problem with it and like the looks. My fishing partner will only fish with the latest and greatest Loomis rods. He gave my PTs a whirl and was very impressed. I don't see him switching anytime soon but he said that they fished just about as well as his rods. Now I am not saying they are equal to a GLX but you can buy 3 or 4 for the same price as one. Overall these have been a great surprise. I actually bought them bc I hadn't tried any quantum gear in a longtime and wanted to see what they were all about. I am glad I did.

Not going to sleep a wink tonight!!!
I am leaving in the morning for my favorite fishing destination...Venice, LA. Me and my brother will be chasing the redfish around and will probably go after the specks too!! I am soo excited and everytime I go, I end up tossing and turning like a kid at Christmas. I have 2 new rod and reels just for the trip. So wish me luck and hopefully I will have some good pics on Monday. (Actually I have internet where I am staying so i will probably check in before then) Good fishing to you all! OH and if you have never been to Venice, start looking into it. 40" redfish on a 7"M spinning rod is just unbeatable. Last trip a hauled in a 25lb redfish on 12 pound test and that was a blast.

Looking for Walleye advice....
I have fished St. croix in Wisconsin for Walleye and it was a whole different ballgame. Some grubs and leaches was all I needed to load the boat. It is a little different down here in the south. There are some monster Walleye in the lake but i have never been interested in catching them....until this year. One of the guides I buy my hybrid baits from, uses a bottom walker with a spinner attached to a crawler harness. he does well and has clients come from all over up north. I called to book a trip with him. One day with the right guide, and i should know enough to figure the rest out. Some of these guides are incredible fisherman with many little tricks of the trade that few people know about.

River to sea frogs.
Thats the answer. A trailer hook on a frog is going to be a pain in the butt in thick scummy stuff....the exact places frogs excel. Just learn to wait on the fish instead of setting the hook when you see the strike. BTW..I do it all the time with frogs. When the bite is slow then out of nowhere a something hammers it......sometimes i just react.

How many rods to bring?
Well once you start buying them, there is no stopping. Then you will start tying on the night before and end up with 7 or 8 rods in the boat. However, I have to have a M casting, MH casting, and M spinning to make me happy when fishing most situations. But you can certainly make do with whatever you have.
