  1. They hold basically the same amount of line as any other spinning reel in its class. I know you are having problems but it just doesn't add up. Mine holds 130yds!!!!!!! Yours holds 175 :
  2. Bass Pro Extreme (as smooth as any high dollar reel I have used) Most Pfluegers Quantum Energy PT(atleast on this site ) Abu Garcia's NEW cardinal spinning reels(The 701 and 702 are as good as any around) Abu really stepped up their game on these! Possibly Browning...My brother is an avid fisherman and uses shimano and browning exclusively.(All the browning are spinning reels) I never hear about them.
  3. I still think you will be fine in Lilys with the mono. Set your drag appropriatly and you wont have a problem. Now if you were pitching into trees then that would be different. BUT braid certainly won't hurt. If it s a baitcaster, i would go with 50lb, its more manageable than 30lb and use Sufix or Power pro. I have switched from PP to Sufix but they are both good. If you have a spinning reel with a spare spool, then put 30lb sufix on the spare and you are good to go.
  4. Thats amazing..... I have 20-30 but only use 10 or 12. the others stay at the Lake for friends and such.
  5. Dead sticking is just what it says. Allowing your bait to remain motionless with no action imparted by the rod (a dead stick). You do it by casting your bait to the target and letting settle (or die) on the top or bottom. It works because fish are lazy predators and will take advantage of a dead snack they don't have to chase down. If you have ever had a fish on after spending 5 minutes picking out a backlash you will know that it works. JMHO Ronnie Last Feb. I was pitching a jig and my buddy got a hook in his Hand. I went to help get it out and came back several minutes later to reel in my line and saw that it was under the boat wrapped around the trolling motor. On the other end was a nice 6lber
  6. Thats atleast 300ft of line...Where is all that line going?
  7. I like fishing the swimming senko on a c rig. I have caught a lot of fish by doing this on wind blown points. I tend to fish it a little faster than I normally would.
  8. I like big game but not on my spinning reels. I used it for years...
  9. I haven't gotten into the swimbait craze but I did play around with the MM. It has really good action and i imagine will catch fish but I haven't fished it enough to know. i used a gamakatsu weighted 4/0 weighted hook.
  10. No I havent. Good? I am looking for a location for oct but might go back to Venice. I have already been twice this year. Its my favorite type of fishing by far. BTW..If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would buy a Ranger 2400 Bay boat, move into a place next to Venice Marina, and fish every single day....
  11. nice...how big? Most of the hybrids I catch are schooling in 30-60'.
  12. I agree that most locations are the same but lure choice and presentation are much different for me.
  13. Thats awesome. Customer service means a lot to me when deciding on any purchase!
  14. Ill order some Ultra Soft and give it a try. I don't remember trying Gamma and I prefer Xl over Maxima. I might also try Triple Fish X rated bc it is my absolute favorite line on baitcasters. I think you said you had trouble with the TF flouro but this stuff is so limp but does NOT get nicked up on rocks. Its tough stuff!
  15. That's why I posted this, I have tried just about everything and I keep coming back to XL. I have never been broken off even in big hybrids BUT the stuff sometimes breaks when pulling a knot and it is easy to break off when I'm hung up. I just can't find a line that handles as well as XL but stronger.
  16. Dang man you got it bad..drop shotting in the sink! ;D
  17. Man, i keep coming back to this line for my spinning reels. I have tried many different ones but this stuff just casts like a dream for me. I keep looking bc its not the strongest line around. But i just don't see many folks talk about it. Does the Yo Zuri Ultra Soft cast as well? I have used the regular hybrid and it was decent but i still like the XL better.
  18. Everyone is going to have a lot of different opinions on line. If you want something that is easy to find(Wal Mart) and cheap, then its hard to beat Berkely Big Game for the baitcaster and XL for your spinning reel. If you want advice on any line, 8 pound XL and 30 pound Sufix braid on your spare spool for the spinning reel and 12 lb Triple Fish X Rated on your baitcaster. Other good ones are Yo Zuri Hybrid, Sufix Seige, Seagur(flouro), BPS flouro, Trilene XT.... Braid: Power Pro or Sufix
  19. I spend a lot of time night fishing and my experience is different. The majority of my 8lb plus fish have been caught at night using different baits.(and yes I have tried these techniques during the day) The most productive bait is by far a large colorado blade black spinnerbait. I like to fish these on humps, points or flats coming off of a deeper channel. I let the spinnerbait hit the bottom then give it a pop and slow roll it back to the boat. There are many days when a spinnerbait won't get bit during the day but it nearly ALWAYS produces at night...slow rolling is key. Although I don't get the numbers with this bait, i get better size. The big gals like a 10" Berkely Power Worm. My favorite color is Tequila Sunrise and I like to fish this in any type of pysical structure especially wood or grass (although tickling the grass with a spinnerbait might get your rod jerked in the water) Anyway, there is always 2 ways to skin a cat and this is how i skin mine.
  20. Get a couple of Bass pro Extreme combos. You may want one baitcaster and one spinning setup...or maybe not. But they are affordable, dependable, and fun to fish with. I have had 10 or so combos total but some were stolen. They have been on Lake Fork, Monticello, neaqrly every major lake in Arkansas, white river red river, gulf of mexico, Arkansas river, mississppi River,...just to name a few and have never let me down
  21. A "normal"day for me in the summer is 6am-11am then go in for lunch and back out from 6pm to dark. 30 bass is a really good day and it usually means that I found a pattern the dinkos are on. I can throw a fluke in buckbrush all day long and catch 10" spots. However, fishing humps, points, and flats in the summer usually results in 6-10 keepers. But I have had many days with 2 or less. Summer on my lake gets tough!! Thats why I switch to hybrid fishing. I can put up some pretty big numbers on them.
  22. I can't tell any difference in casting distinct BUT I do believe it cuts down on loops and line twist.....especially wind knots. Having less coils coming off the spool makes the line perform a little better.... Atleast that's my experience.
  23. So would you recommend a MH for deep diving rapalas magnum wiggle warts, etc....
  24. Dang my DVR must have missed an episode. I watched it lastnight and they were fishing for walleye and flyfishing. Sounds like I recorded an old one or something.
  25. I have found the hybrids and can catch a lot of them right now on that Gerald's inline spinner BUT I am going to start throwing some bigger swimbaits. Like the YUM Sweat Cheaks 5.5" version. They aren't that long but they are very bulky and have good action. I dont care if I get skunked, I am going to fish all summer for that 20lber. More realistically a 15-18 but hoping for the big gal. She is in there!
