XCalibur Xr50 Rattle Bait ???
I can fully back RW on this one. The chrome/blue/orange is THE color. SAs mentioned earlier I throw red early spring but any other time, this is the only color to throw!

Secondary Point Question
Everyone is right on. Secondary points are simply points on the inside of main lake points. Right now in my area, the bass are cruising the main lake points. As it gets closer to their spawn, they will move to secondary points on the inside of the main points. This is my favorite time to fish! However, for me to be successful, I need to find the fish on the primary points now bc they will stay in the same area; just move to the secondary point as it gets warmer. If I can't find them now, I will spend more time searching in the early spring. One thing to look for when fishing secondary points is water temp. I have found that the males begin to move into secondary points at 50-55 degrees. The gals usually don't move in until 55+. When the temp hits 55, the feeding really turns on and secondary points are my main focus. This is when senkos, flukes, and spinnerbaits really shine. The fish will keep moving more and more shallow as the temp warms into the 60s. My biggest fish come in this pre spawn time when the water temp is 55-60 and they are feeding heavily for spawn. BTW. Water temp will vary by location. But pay attention to it and you will know when to fish main points and when to fish secondary points

A lesson for Team Pampers
Well, I'm only 33 so no major problems yet. However, the most important thing I have learned is that its not always about the fish. Everyday I get to watch the sunrise or sunset on the water, is a gift from god!

XCalibur Xr50 Rattle Bait ???
One of my 2 favorite lipless baits. If I am using a steady retrieve then its my favorite. When I fish a flat that goes into a drop off, I LOVE the Red Eye shad. I can burn it then let it drop and the red eye flutters straight down without turning sideways and triggers A LOT of bites. It is the most versatile trap. But back to the XR50. In late winter/early spring, I throw the orange craw almost exclusively. Any other time, chrome/blue is the color. My buddy swears by an XR50 in the color ghost minnow? (I think that is the color but I could be wrong) I have never thrown it on a trap but its a great color on a Jimmy.

Very impressed with Yozuri hybrid
Bass Pro didn't have the 12lb spools but I got the 10lb in smoke and 20lb in green for the big bass lake I fish. Is the diameter of this stuff more than mono? I keep hearing how the 12 is really 15 and so forth.

quantum tour blue, any good
Any of the Quantum PT reels are good. The Tour Edition is very smooth and you will love the ACS braking. I do not have the Tour Edition but I have fished with one. I do have the Accurist PTs and love them.

Anyone have experience with Norman's deep diving SUSPENDING cranks?
Thats a great Walleye, congrats! I like norman cranks but I really think this suspending bait will be a beast on Rocky drop offs. I simply can't wait to throw these!!

Anyone have experience with Norman's deep diving SUSPENDING cranks?
This is probably the lure I am most excited to try this year. The key to catching smallies on my lake is keeping the crankbaits in the strike zone long enough. I am thinking these crankbaits are going to be the cats rear for this. I bought several of the DD22 that will suspend at 15-18'. Has anyone had success with these? http://www.***.com/descpageHDCNORMAN-DD22S.html

Does anyone prefer magnetic braking systems?
I am curious why magnetic systems are used on reels. I sort of understand the dual braking systems but I have yet to find a magnetic system that I like. In fact I will no longer buy or recommend BPS extreme reels bc of this. The ones that I have had such great success with are totally different from the new ones. Personally, I don't understand why more companies don't use something similar to Quantum's ACS11 system. This is an externally controlled centrifigul system that is superior to any other i have used. Im certainly not saying their reels are superior by any stretch but that particular system is awesome. Anyway, I am just curious if i am in the minority on this. Do you prefer magnetic braking and why?

valentines day love it.
The Accurist PT from Cabela's at $59 is the best deal going. I have stayed away from Quantum until last year after using some of my buddies rods. I have to say, 3 rods and 3 reels later,I am loving them. I am hoping Cabelas has the accurist on sale for about another month, Im wanting another. Oh and congrats on finding the best wife on the planet

The 25lb Bass
A 25 pound bass is like bootfoot here in Ar. I have landed several 10lbs+ bass and truly can't comprehend a 20lber. Personally I like the current record and hope if the record is broken, it brings a great story.

New Lure Broke My Losing Streak!
What sort of cover/structure are you fishing? I fish a deep, rocky, clear lake most of the time. This might be deadly swimming it down a rocky drop off. What do you think?

abu garcia
Dang near every other post is about Revos. They get as much forum chatter as any other reel on here! Like you mentioned the spinning reels aren't talked about much. My Abu 700s are the best I own.

Very impressed with Yozuri hybrid
Hmm... even #10 XT, or P-line cxx is "easy handling" Correct and I like Yozuri better which is why I started the thread.

Do you like your Accurist?
I gave the PT burner a hard workout this weekend. My buddy has several of these and loves them. He paid full price of $139 and still thinks they are a bargain. Anyway, he talked me into buying one bc they are on sale for $59. He told me it would bring me luck this weekend. I think he was right. I caught a nice bass on an olive X rap. Not a monster but fun non the less. Anyway, I am ordering another one of these reels. It performed very well and is a steal at $59!!! I don't know whats wrong with me but Im starting to acquire a decent amount of quantum gear and loving it all. I think they have stepped up their game.

Quantum tour edition 09
I have to say, I am starting to like Quantum gear quite a bit. I have several PT Energy rods that are awesome. I also just bought an Accurist PT Burner bc it was 60% off. I fished it all weekend and freakin love the reel. I am going to order another one. I wish there were more reels with externally adjustable centrifugal braking. That is a great feature! I won't spend the money on a Tour Edition but no doubt they are sweet. I think Quantum has gotten back in the game.

Very impressed with Yozuri hybrid
I tried this line years ago and didn't care for it. However, I gave it another run and absolutely loved the stuff! Fisherman are notoriously anal about different things and line is it for me. I try all sort of different lines and usually find faults with them. However, I spooled my new BC with 10lb Camo green Yozuri Hybrid and thought it was great. It had very little memory, casts silky smooth, hauled a big gal out of some brush this weekend without a hitch, and seemed pretty abrasion resistant. The wind was 25 miles plus so I managed to fling more than a few jerkbaits into the buck brush. I didn't feel any nicks on the line. Have I found my new line for '09? I have to give it more time but I'm impressed so far.

Problems at big tournaments
I hate thieves! Last year my boat was stolen from my dock and sunk! They stole all of my rods and tackle. Probably $5k worth of stuff! Not including my boat.

Difference between quantum energy spinning reels
Its a great reel and a great buy at $89. I dont know about the new ones so I don't know the difference.

Jerkbaits
My arm is about to fall off from fishing pointers, x raps, and a new one for me..the Jackall Squad Minnow. Yesterday, I caught this girl on an Olive X Rap on Greers Ferry. The fish were NOT active and barely put up a fight. They would only hit a jerkbait if you let it sit for about 10 seconds. They wanted it SLOW. I don't like fishing them but when thats what they want, I'll give it to them. Sorry for the goofy pose with the rod, I sent it to a friend that talked me into buying that reel and told me it was going to bring me good luck

Could not resist the Launcher
Quantum rods are among the most underrated rods on this forum IMO.
