  1. Ive got a ton of them and really like them. They are not the lightest or most sensitive but they are light enough and sensitive enough to fish whatever technique you want without being at a disadvantage.
  2. Ive got 3 of them now and LOVE them. They are worth the $129 price so the sale price is a steal. I know a lot of people that bought these when cabelas put them on sale for $59. Tuckman's report is the first bad report I have heard of from these reels. I liked them so much i just bought a NEW Energy PT. And thats a smoooooth reel. You will love them.
  3. Nobody needs a 7'6" but some prefer it. I prefer a 7" rod over a 7'6" bit non of this has anything to do braid.
  4. I have only played with the reel. It took the place of the Accurist PT which has a great reputation. I have several of them and love them. But one so you can tell me how they are
  5. I would get the Tour Edition. I prefer the adjustability of the Quantums.
  6. Lipless excels for me on flats. I also use them in shallow water or on top of grass and for schooling fish. Cranks for deepwater and dropoffs. Some of my best fish have come from traps in Feb and early March.
  7. I didn't ask them...I just bought 4 spools
  8. I fished with this combo on a float trip and was very impressed! Pflueger spinning reels are tough to beat IMO. I would get this combo in the 6'6"M and put some Yozuri 6-8lb test on it. You will be fishing with a versatile spinning combo that performs at a high level. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_100904_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2?ordProd=Y&CMID=BOTTOM_selectitems#itemDetail
  9. 28lbs of drag is a horrible feature if it can't be adjusted! Why would anyone think that is a good idea? I find it hard to believe that its not adjustable but there doesn't appear to be the standard drag control on the reel.
  10. They are fantastic and have pretty much copied the color scheme of LC. They have VMC hooks and flat out catch fish. Do not expect LC quality from them but they are great. The jerkbaits are awesome but they do not balance like the LC Pointer. The H2Os suspend but they nose dive. It hasn't affected the fishing though. Here is one in my favorite color. Its a knockoff of LC chartreuse shad. http://www.***.com/descpageHDRLUCKY-LCPT.html#
  11. Tyde if you are talking Greers, this guy nailed it all the way down to the wiggle wart!! I can't believe I didnt write that response. HE is exactly dead on and that is what I have been doing. Traps, jerks, eakins jigs, and wiggle warts in deeper stained water. But for the traps, I fish points that form a small flat before dropping off into a channel. I dont burn it.
  12. Man I can't help it. I like the heck out of the guy. He loves what he does, he is clearly one of the best at it, and he appeals to another group of future fishermen.
  13. Ha! Trust me that lake owns me. It is so dang tough to fish IMO. I have had a great Feb but no doubt it won't stay that way. Im going to talk to my buddy and see if he can fish the tourny. I lost my dad to a rare brain tumor so I know how tough these situations are. However, there is nothing more heart breaking than a child with cancer. I would like to help out and will donate any money if Im lucky enough to win any! Ill get back to y'all on this.
  14. Really? Great info Big O! I hope the problem has been solved bc that lure flat out produces! But Im not going to buy anymore if the paint chips off after a days fishing. I wonder if there is a way to tell which ones are old. I bought them from Academy in January.
  15. Tell me about the Wooten Tourny. I haven't heard about it but might fish it.
  16. Olive, Olive, and Olive
  17. I have always stayed away from Quantum until I got these Accurist PTs. They are great! I am now looking at the Tour Edition as well. I love the ACS braking system. Its the best I have used. I will let you buy the TE first and see how it goes
  18. February has been a really good month for me. I have not landed that lunker yet but I have caught a lot 3s and 4s, a few 5s and a six. Most of these have been on jerkbaits and traps. Yesterday, I started out early with a good jerkbait bite then all of a sudden they shut off! I couldn't buy a bite.....I decided to throw on a PB&J Eakins Jig with a paca trailer. I fish this jig hard with only one dink in a few hours. On two occasions, good sized fish tried to grab it at the boat. Soooooooo, I decided to fish the same structure but to swim it. THATS ALL IT TOOK! I can't believe how much of a difference it made. I ended up catching 15 or so nice bass off the exact same structure i had fished before. This is a technique i do not use often and wouldn't have tried if I didn't see those 2 fish chasing it to the boat. The Eakins Jig saved the day Here are a few nice fish from the last week of fishing. This one was a CHUNK
  19. I have had really good luck with hybrid lines. The two I like are Triple Fish X Rated and Yozuri. After fishing with Yozuri for the past month in the trees and on the rocks, I am sold. It handles well and is very tough. Bass Pro has some spools left for $5. I ordered 10lb Smoke and 20lb camo green. I have found 10lb to be plenty of line on my BC except for my flipping/pitching rod which I strung with 20lb. The smoke is almost a purple color and does well in ALL water. I thought it would stand out more in clear but it doesn't. I prefer camo green but they didn't have it in the 10 or 12lb spools.
  20. Dang I have been looking for this thread. I always check the stickys last! Go figure..... Waiting on the final results to be posted. I waivered back and forth on my top guy and it was KVD or ike and i chose KVD....dangit. Oh well still did pretty well.
  21. x2 I wish it coulda been IKE though! Ian If it couldnt be Rook or McClelland then Ike was my man as well.
  22. Skeet sounds like a class act.
  23. Can he get 16.5?!!!!!! NOPE Congrats Skeet!!!! What a great tournament.
  24. OK Im for Jami...
