  1. They can be fished many different ways but it is easy to fish them too fast. I like to slow them down and let them bump off of rocks, stumps, the bottom, or just tickling the grass. One of the most productive lures of alltime and still going strong.
  2. I have said it many times on here. The Extreme reels are the best value around. They perform with the big boys and are as durable as any reel I have ever used. I have used mine on 10 pound bass, 15 pound hybrids, 20 pound redfish and numerous tournaments. NEVER a single problem with any of the half dozen I own. I used to be a Shimano guy (and still somewhat am) but I think the Extreme reels are everybit as good as the citicas and curados I used to buy. I agree with you and glad you had a good day fishing!
  3. I have a tendency to fish to fast as it is. I always have to tell myself to slow it down. Therefore I don't have any of the high speed reels. BUT I will eventually get one or two.
  4. Watermelon Brush Hogs
  5. I absolutely believe that scents will increase your hookups when fishing slow plastics or jigs. I have had good success with Bang Shad and YUM scents.
  6. For pond fishing, tubes are a must. Booyah spinnerbait in white and chart. I prefer the booyah blade(colorado blade) And some sort of top water....probably a buzz bait or some stanley ribbits. Plus the Senkos you already have, those would be my top choices...unless it is a deep rocky pond. Then i would go with some sort of ratltrap or crank.
  7. A good flouro would be the best bet or maybe some of the copolymers. Braid is a big no no with rocks. I used to fish with Big game on the Arkansas river. I fished cranks all in the rocks and it did really well. I would re-tie fairly often but it did well. Now I like Seagur and Triple fish X Rated for this application.
  8. Arkansas Rod and Reel is on cantrell in Little Rock.
  9. Rod and Reel has all the specialized baits that you can't get anywhere else. Haven't been to Fishnstuff in years but it used to be nice. There are dozens of places to fish near Bebee. There are plenty of good bass fishing, but you are also very close to world class trout on the little red.
  10. I posted that on another thread. Citicas are known screamers. I had no idea why and I thought the new ones would be different. But my buddy got one and its a screamers too. We were both very surprised. It doesn't seem to effect the performance.
  11. Thats the exact rod I use for spinnerbaits. It is a great rod and on sale now.
  12. My wife thinks I'm crazy bc I sit on the couch every Sunday night, watching fishing shows and cleaning my gear. I organize my tackle e dry Sunday bc I am pretty sloppy when I fish.
  13. RW, I agree with just about everything you said. But my point is that it isn't necessary to catch fish. To me the higher end stuff is a luxury and not a necessity. I choose to buy good proven mid priced gear. That allows me to buy more baits, the best tackle, and the best electronics. I have 2 loomis rods, some all stars, falcons, and a few curados(older green ones) and actually 5 citicas(older) they were topnotch when I bought them. They are all nice but an insignificant part of catching fish. However, I completely understand why some people buy only the best. Its fun and that's what fishing is all about. Please excuse any errors I am on my iPhone :
  14. Sensitivy is wwwwwwwaaaaayyyyy overstated IMO. There are weekend warriors that bank fish with gear better than the pros on here. Look at KVD, a lot of people on here talk about how bad his tackle is and say they wouldn't use it. He seems to manage just fine. The high dollar rods offer you a lighter rod, usually the best warranty, and better action. These are the 3 reasons to buy them IMO. However, I have tried cheaper gear that really sucked. In fact most of it does. I discovered Extreme rod and reels and to me they are exactly what I need. I have a lakehouse and a bass boat, I take atleast 4 fishing trips per year, and fish some tournaments when I have time. Never have I been under equiped. I can feel the same fish with my rods that others feel with a loomis. The loomis certainly has some advantages but none that will land you more fish.
  15. I am going to Venice on the 6th and you guys are killing me. I am obsessed with reds and trout aren't so bad either. Good luck! I don't really have any advice as I usually throw whatever the guide tells me to. That consists of GULP turtle back worms(slaughtered them on these), GULP shrimp, and some black and chartreuse swimbait. Keep us posted!
  16. Another vote for the Stanley Ribbit. You can even go subsurface and fish it like a jerk bait.
  17. Gamakatsu.........These are my favorites. They work great for senkos http://www.***.com/descpage-GFWH.html
  18. I looked at those as well but they are WWAAAAAYYYY too heavy for what i am looking for. I just bought 2 Cardinal 700lx's. I have never used an Abu spinning reel but I have called some folks that fish with them a lot and they say the new ones are top notch. Hopefully i won't regrett it!
  19. Woo HOO!!! Thanks to captain Chaos, I just got 2 Cardinal 700s for $49 a piece!!! I was going to get one 800 but at that price, I had to get the 2 700s. It was at the Bass Pro in Concord NC and they are shipping out this afternoon. It also happened to be the last 2. I am pretty pumped. i love a good deal. Now I HAVE to buy a new rod for the xtra reel.
  20. I owe you a big thanks! I just called the concord store and bought the last 2 they had for $49!!!!!!! They are shipping out this afternoon. wooo hooo. I was just going to get one but for that price I had to get them both. I already had my card out to buy the 800 from cabelas until i read this post. Thanks again....I love a good deal!
  21. WOW! That is a steal. What store is it? I will call them and have them ship it to me...if they will.
  22. The Sahara is a nice reel and will serve you well. However, I am buying a cardinal 800 to take with me when I go on saltwater trips. Hopefully it will perform as good as the shimanos. I have heard good things about the new Abus.
  23. Thanks for the info, a buddy of mine does a lot of redfishing and said he likes the Cardinal better than any other reel he has used. I think I am going to give it a try!
  24. 20lb Power Pro or Sufix would work just fine. You could also easily go with 30lb. I use both brands and like them about the same. PP fades quickly but I haven't had Sufix long enough to know if iyd better about that.
