  1. Ha, you guys are killin me!!!! The citica performs as well as an extreme. However I do not like the reel as much. In fact I gave one of mine away to my fishing buddy. I think most people would agree that the Curado is the best of all the reels mentioned. BUT I personally prefer the extremes. I like my curados but love the extremes. I have posted other threads about why...mainly durability. So the extremes do perform like a $200 reel. The Citica performs like an extreme but has some things about it I am not a fan of. If I am contradicting myself, then I am sorry. I still don't see it but the point is.....the extreme's are the best buy IMO. Keep in mind I have 2 chronarchs, 3 curados, 6 citicas(5 of them the older ones) and I think 5 extremes. Just my opinions and i know many will disagree. ;D Sorry for the contradictions
  2. I have several of them and really like them. The reels are very smooth and the drag system has proved itself on many hundreds of hybrids and some nice redfish. They are very versatile as i use them for finesse bassin to fishing in the gulf. I do not think you will be disappointed. Plus they might still be on sale. I caught about 20 of these on the extreme spinning reel with 12 pound test. You can just barely see the reel at my feet
  3. If you get text messages, I can probably text it to you....not sure though. You can PM me your number if you want me to try.
  4. You are obviously a supurb angler That is my go to bait as well. It seems to work anywhere.
  5. Man that sucks... I just know I am going to forget to silence my phone in a meeting and have to explain to a client what all that racket is in my pocket.
  6. Here is Shaw Grigsby talking about his use of spinning gear. I think he uses it nearly all the time. http://www.quantumfishing.com/prostaff/pro_SG.html
  7. OK so I know that this is pretty rediculous. I am not very tech savvy but I did figure out how to make my favorite fishing commercial my ringtone. My favorite is when Shaw says, "thats a big ol pig"....My wife thinks I am crazy everytime my phone rings. Anyway, I know some of you are as helpless in your addiction as me and may like it. You can download it here. Scroll to the bottom and save to your computer. then email or text it to your phone. It puts a smile on my face everytime it rings. http://www.quantumfishing.com/index2.html
  8. How so? The extreme performs as well as the curado. I have several of both and although the Curado is considered the better reel, I personally prefer the extreme. I see no contradiction. If you do, fine. The point is that I have all of the above reels and like them but the extreme is my favorite and is the best value IMO.
  9. Bass Pro Extreme performs like a $200 reel, extremely smooth and durable. On sale for $59 Quantum Code casts well. External centrifugal control is a GREAT feature, 8 bearings, this is a very user friendly reel. $80 Shimano Citica performs like a Bass Pro extreme but costs twice as much. Still a good reel but some of them are squeelers and that drives me crazy. Mine and 3 of my buddies make this noise. Shimano Curado is the better than the other 3 but I personally like the extreme. Those are the four reels that I have and my pinion of them. I do have some others but these are the ones I recommend. Good Luck!!!
  10. Next stop.......Lake Crisco! Thats one of my favorite lines when crappie fishing.
  11. I don't use it for bass BUT the redfish love it! We caught over 200 redfish on black GULP turtle back worms. However, I think we could have used just about anything.
  12. Interesting views....I have always enjoyed fishing frogs and caught fish on them but thought they usually would NOT outfish a buzzbait, spinnerbait, or weightless worms. I got some good grass in mind that I might throw a Ribbit over. Ill pick up some of those ragetails too

Frogg Toggs are flat out awesome for warm weather climates. I fished in a pretty steady rain yesterday and was completely dry from head to toe!!!
  14. I travel all the time with my job. I can't pull my boat with my company car so I spend a lot of time pounding the banks all over Arkansas. I find that anything over 6' can be a problem when fishing banks with trees and structure. I prefer to use a Med action 6' baitcasting rig. I have a cheap quantum rig that stays in my car year round!! It has caught a lot of fish including 5 today.
  15. If you are looking for reels under $100, then I would get a Bass Pro Extreme. Actually I have 5 or 6 of them and think they are as good as any reel out there. They are on sale too! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90338_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 The Quantum code would be second on my list(Have 2 of them as well) Not near as good as the Extreme but good non the less. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98024_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 The KVD series would be right there with the code and actually maybe ahead of it. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98401_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 There are a bunch of reels in the $120-$150 that I would recommend over these.(except for the extreme reels. I am sold on them)
  16. Sweet mother!!! That is a great fish and on 8 pound Very nice job landing it.
  17. There is a lot of talk on here about fishing frogs. I throw a few Stanley Ribbits and horny toads but I never feel like they are a must have. To me, this is a bait I throw when I am already catching fish but just WANT to throw a frog. Granted I have never spent a lot of time fishing them. So my question is, is this a go to bait for some of you. Do you feel like a frog is productive when no other bait seems to work. I am just curious bc they are one of the last baits I pick up.
  18. Man I hate fishing in the wind!!! I actually threw on my frogtoggs and caught a few bass today in the rain.
  19. I do ALOT of night fishing and it is completely different than daytime IMO. In fact I don't throw hardly any of the same baits or colors for that matter. My 2 favorite night baits are a 10" Berkely Power worm in Tequila Sunrise and a big black spinnerbait with an oversized single Colorado blade. You really need to slow roll the spinnerbait but that blade will vibrate your arm and thats what your looking for. I do not fish them in tight structure but rather over open water humps, points, and creek channels. These are my 2 go to baits and they have produced a lot of big bass. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_51780_100006001_100000000_100006000_100-6-1
  20. Sahara is a very nice reel. You can't go wrong at all. However if you can swing $20 more bucks, i would get the bass pro extreme rod with the Pflueger President reel. This is a top notch combo but you will be pleased with either. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_59170_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2
  21. Which seems to suggest that those were the only ones that weren't exposed to the elements. Nope... They were all left in the leaves out in the woods in the same weather for the same amount of time. They are simply more durable plain and simple. You miss my point. The evidence suggests that some of the rigs were partially uncovered, not that brand X is more durable than brand Y. I am not sure of the percent of coverage one rod had vs. the other. Maybe we can get CSI to check it out. No seriously, they all got rained on the same, they all were frozen in ice and several snows, I don't think the extremes just happened to be less exposed to the elements. The cork was chewed off some of the handles and one of the BP logos was off the reel. I know its hard to swallow but this gear was just tougher. I am not a Bass Pro fanboy. I just had an experience that made me realize the value of this gear.

  23. Ish Rocks! He is a very likable guy and one that i would love to spend a day on the water with. I also noticed that everyone mentions KVD. He is THE BEST.
  24. Don't know about the reel. But you are going to love the rod. I think the Quantum PT rods are the most underrated rods i have fished with.
  25. My extreme gear was put to the test against several top end reels(not going to name them cause i don't want to get into that debate) and fairly top notch rods when my boat was stolen. The sheriff found 11 of my rod and reels buried in the leaves, through the winter. They spent 7 months outdoors. The only reels that were still functional were the extremes. In fact they weren't even rusted. There were 4 rods that weren't broken and 3 of them were the extremes....and there were only 3 extremes in the first place. I named the gear on another thread but don't want to go there. This is when i switched to extreme gear. I have caught many hundreds of bass, a 30 pound catfish, and several bull reds on this gear. It has never failed and is tougher than the rest. THAT is good quality affordable gear.
