  1. Awesome! Where you back in the stumps?
  2. Looking to head out tomorrow (thursday) a.m. if anyone is interested. Haven't decided where to go, thinking Mercer. If you would like to meet up, post or call 703-283-9302.
  3. Cool! You were at the small lake next to Lake Braddock HS?
  4. I thought I would bring one home and put it in a large bowl for my kid. ;D No luck, no how!
  5. I headed over to Lake Braddock, but when i didn't see anyone I went on to Royal. Royal was dead until about 30 minutes before I had to leave, when I saw three huge carp. Well, I don't know what huge is for a carp but the largest was about 2 ft and fat. They were by the point running me back and forth between stumps. I threw everything I had that was weedless, but couldn't land one. Does anyone have any experience with carp?
  6. Trevor, You got it right. You'll can call me Rich or Okrod. Okrod is a nickname anyway. I'm heading out this morning and hope to see Chai. I can't make it tonight but hope to get out again on Thursday. Rich/Okrod
  7. Chai, I plan on going out this morning about 10, where on the lake will you be?
  8. "D**n", that fish was 3 lbs when I pulled it out and it keeps getting smaller!
  9. I hope this report helps everyone out. Next week is a definite. Let's watch the weather and see how it goes. Tuesday and Thursday are my best days. Rich
  10. It was a beautiful day today out at Mercer and really good meeting you guys. I've attached my PB for this year; a whopping 1.9 lbs. I caught one other LM that was it's little brother, so I didn't bother taking a pic. Fun none the less.

I will be out at Mercer tomorrow (10th) at the "DAM" or near by at about 9am. 'I'll be the funny looking guy wearing a fanny pack and hung up in the trees. ;D I believe Chai may be there as well and it would be good to meet and fish with all those who can make it.

OK it's Mercer Thursday-hopefully about 9am- but I'll confirm tomorrow night what time I can get out in the morning. rondef, thanks for the directions and hope to see you out there.

It looks like my day out is going to have to be Thursday at Royal since I only have about 3-4 hours. I plan on being out at Mercer next week and those 7-9 pounders at Royal do sound good if it wasn't a "fish" story. I'm trying to dodge a morning meeting and get there by 9am, otherwise it will be about 10:30 am.

Sounds like Royal is hitting good if that's good with you. I'll post as soon as I know when I can go and others can join us if they wish.
  17. Can anyone recommend a small, light weight, cheap scale? I'm walking the banks most of the time with a hip/fanny pack. Having lost a few lures already, I'm also wondering if anyone uses a lure retriever for when they hang-up? Again small, light, cheap.

Chai, Are you heading out Tuesday or Wednesday? Wednesday I may be heading out, but haven't picked a lake yet. I hit Burke Lake last week with no luck. I hear things are picking up, but that Burke is a little over fished on the public side. We'll just have to prove them wrong. Rich
  19. Good info. I was out at Royal two time a week ago and it was pretty dead. One each day at 10" & 12" on Finess worms on the point. Glad it's picking up. Where on the lake are they hitting now and do you know where they'll spawn?
  20. Thanks this is great info. I'll check out the BassMaster article for sure and keep patient until the whether warms up a bit. I struck out at the Burke Lake public boat launch Saturday and was wondering if this area is over fished (several people there) or if there are better places around the lake that doesn't take a 2 mile hike?
  21. Hi gang, I'm new to th board and had a question of those of you who seem to know the area. I'm getting back into fishing after having a kid (takes all your free time) and live in Burke and have a question about the spawn. I hear everyone talking about it and the shows all talk about it in generalities, but can someone give me an overview of what's important to know for our area? Thanks, okrod
  22. I just wanted to say hi-- I'm new to the forum and live right behind Lake Braddock HS. I'm a dad trying to get back into the sport after several years and looking to up my limited skills. I've been to Royal and Burke Lake over the last couple weeks with a couple <12" LMs so far on finess worms and a couple strike outs. I'm walking the banks and loving every second I'm out there.
