  1. I second on google maps. You can setup a "my maps" page where you can tag all the spots you want and save it to reference later. When I want to go out fishing, I check the map so I don't continually go to the same familiar places.
  2. pkschul, I will probably be able to go local for a few hour about 3pm. I'm in Burke, so maybe we can arrange to meet up. I'll PM you my cell.
  3. Does anyone know if Fountain Head is worth walking if you don't have boat?
  4. Hey all, Have a good time tomorrow. Wish I could join you, but it's my kids 4th birthday. Here is a pic of her on Saturday at Lake Accotink. She's got a great cast with the princess combo. BTW, her lure has no hooks. (she didn't know that) :-X
  5. I know how you feel FishingMastah1. I had a similar experience earlier this year and I felt bad even knowing the fish had a 50/50 chance of survival. My issue wasn't getting the hook out, but the fight that took so much out of the fish. The next day I searched the entire bank were I put the bass back to see if I had a floater. I felt better after, although I knew it unlikely to find it - even if it did die.
  6. Welcome aboard bluedevil.
  7. Been looking, but I keep finding china I can afford. Can you fish out of a gravy boat? :-/
  8. Sailboats aren't any good for fishing, I keep getting my lures caught in the sail.
  9. Awesome! Sounds like a hell of a morning. I'll PM you about next weekend.
  10. You forgot the bubble gum.
  11. I'm very sorry to hear about your pop. My grandparents tough me some of my most important values and it sounds like your grandfather did the same. Congratulations on your son's new PB.
  12. I'm up for the fish if someone has room on a boat. Are we looking at the 20th?
  13. I have until 1pm and was wondering if anyone was available to head out? I'll be walking the banks somewhere in Fairfax. Let me know, okrod
  14. Both outings sound fun. I did the mother's day thing as well and did have a good time with my wife and child, but we all know what would have topped the day. Congrats on the PB Dan.
  15. I definitely want to make it if I can. What night are you planning? I don't have a boat.
  16. Knownfactor, That's completely insensitive. Please do the right thing and remove that pic, we get your point.
  17. I believe it was in Bassmaster that I read that Bluegill will bed up just like bass, but they bed right next to each other. I saw this about a week ago at a local pond and it looks like the dimples on a golf ball. I wasn't getting any bass hits, so I tossed a small crank with a #1 trebble and caught two very quickly.
  18. I don't know wagon trail, but I walked down the path with the jon boat that dumps you out by the inlet stream and worked my way around the point. I hit the trail to move deeper into the stump area.
  19. Fishing Report. Those uninterested please ignore. I hit Mercer today on the stump side. Stumps yielded nothing but hang-ups. There are a couple booby traps out there with lost line strung between stumps that took two of my lures. I caught three between 1-2 lbs and four dinks. Hit on a Rapela (sp?) DT crank and pumpkin jig w/ pumpkin craw trailer. Walked up on one hawg and scared it off. Learned a new lesson there. There was another guy there who thought he saw an 8 pounder, but fish stories are always nice to hear. To paraphrase T, "I love the ones that get away, they're huge!" I think I may have caught got Ron's one eyed LM. He's not giving up. I've attached a pic. BTW, If anyone finds an orange rapela DT crank stuck to a stump, it's mine and I want it back!
  20. I agree with the majority of the group that we all have the right not to identify specific spots that may get over fished. However, if you fish locations that everyone is aware of e.g. Mercer, it would help others to share what's working at these locals.

Nice Fish. Sounds like an awesome Sunday catching so many.
  22. I plan on hitting Mercer or someplace local to mercer tomorrow morning if anyone wants to hook-up. I will be hitting the dam and left bank.
  23. I was wondering if anyone had a canoe or kayak sitting idle they wanted to part with in NoVA. I'm watching craigslist waiting for the right ride, but no luck yet. PM me. thanks, okrod
  24. Love the ride. When I was dating my wife we spent a day on the Shanandoah and she paddled all day as I fished. I think I fell in love with her that day. However, she makes me paddle now.
