I remember the VDGIF site saying something like "kill the fish", then went on to say "It is dead when the head is cut off." Dah! I thought that very funny, but I guess they meant what they said.

Awesome pic - it sounds like a great day. I have a girl going on four and she imitates daddy fishing. "Wow", she says while setting an imaginary fish, making my wife and friends laugh their heads off. Are they laughing at me or her!

I think getting together is a good idea. A weekend is good, although I am one of these who can generally do Tue & Thu. I'm a tech consultant and my client typically plays golf those two days and I make up the time at night. Lucky for me. I am looking for a perm gig if anyone has any contacts.

Hi guys, I'm looking for suggestions on new good places to fish within reasonable distance from Burke. I've been to Burke Lake, Lake Braddock, Royal, and Mercer. I'm also on foot, no boat. Thanks,

I caught this LM on a black, long-shank buzz bait right up next to the bank. It was about 8:30pm and real dark by then. I already gave up to head home and decided to try a couple more casts. I got a strike just as I was pulling the lure from the water. I flipped back in about 20 ft out and drew it back in over the same spot a couple times and hit on the second try. A couple passing by were nice enough to take the picture of me, but pics are all I have to judge the weight of this puppy, so I can use your expertise. I estimated the length at 21 to 21.5 inches based on the length of the lure. An online conversion chart put that at between 5.78 - 6.21 lbs. But I'm a novice on this and could use your help.

Snakes, not good! The fishing has been hard and we can't beat ourselves up about it. As long as we keep sharing as much good info as we can, we hopefully can share in the bounty.

Just saw the tread. Hope you all had luck tonight. As I said earlier, the right bank didn't pan out for me, so Ron's suggestion on the left bank sounds good. Of course when your not hitting, the other bank always looks good.

Thanks JCrzy4Bass on the suggestions. To continue the hijack, I tried many of your suggestions, even dug deep into the brush to find some new spots. I just think their fussy, lest you hit them in the head with your lure.

I was at Mercer today along the bank working in to the stumps as JCrzy just suggested. I tried rattles, spinners in white and yellow, jigs, tubes, and just about everything in my box. Caught only a few small LMs and didn't see any beds. I hung up so many times in the stumps it was killing me.

Yah, I tore up the right bank today with everything I had and landed only a few very small LMs. If anyones dropping a boat in this thing, let me know.
