  1. I pretty much had a comically bad day. I was testing a new fluorocarbon that sucked! I dropped two fish over 6lbs and almost catapulted Mike into the water. Lots of funny dialogue and good natured "B" busting.
  2. The Sportsmans channel and the Water channel are correct. I will link the show on my website when it airs so anyone who doesn't have access can check it out.
  3. the show airs on TSC the week of july 24-30 and TWC August 8-12... check their websites for exact dates and times... it will be airing 6-10 times that week... The show is all about jig fishing. I just saw the edit, it is a good tutorial and some funny stuff happens. Check it out
  4. Okee Cracker, they are putting a second episode together of me and the host jig fishing. It should be a decent show comedy wise, everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong as I snapped the line on a 6lber about 2 minutes into the filming. I went on to drop about 12 fish for the camera all pretty decent in size. Last time I experiment with a new line. I was using P-Line Flouro. One highlight to the show is a seminar I did with Larry Nixon and Jimmy Houston. We set up a flipping contest with several pro's and I won it.
  5. TU is back online
  6. I did a tv show a couple of years ago and on camera I called two fish. I think logically you can make a cast to a spot and feel that it should hold a fish. Whether that fish will react or not is beyond my control.
  7. Greg, do a little research. Right now the Chatterbait is cooling off and can readily be found in Walmart. It seems that there are plenty to be had. If you intend to make a similar bait hopefully you can incorporate enough changes in it to make it different and desirable. I rods the wave and sold about 1000 of these baits within the past few months but I can honestly tell you it is quickly become a saturated market. Good luck in your endeavor.
  8. If I've learned one thing about fishing, it is that each trip, no matter if it is to a place that you've been to a million times....is a learning experience. I've fished tournaments for quantity, I've gone out and fished for quality, now I appreciate each fish I catch no matter how big.
  9. Whittler makes some excellent crankbaits. I have several different ones. I recommend them.
  10. PinkFloyd...I sent you a pm, please get back to me. Try a wacky rig, I'll bet you don't lose many once you switch.
  11. Russ, funny $hit. I wrote an article about my old fishing partner, I call him mishap man. He has had so many things go wrong. If I can find it, I'll post it. It is funny.
  12. Avid, this happened to me in the early 90's. Of course I was fishing about 250 days a year but things just got so passe I lacked any motivation. I solved it by switching gears and learning new methods to catch fish. I became totally engrossed in catching fish on light tackle. It actually started in the Ocala National Forest where I took a 13.9 on 6lb line. I took this light tackle fishing back to Long Island NY and reinvented myself. I've never looked back. When things ger dreary, I pick up a lighter stick and I get happy again.
  13. Fish a wacky rig until you are 100%. Feel better man!
  14. Dave, I am a huge UL fan with a 13.9 on 6lb as my largest bass. I wrote tons of articles and even an eBook on the topic. It is a big part of my attack. I dedicated several years of tournament fishing to exclusively be done with UL/light tackle and I waxed guys. What is your question?
  15. What is the redline for the engine? If it is 6000 RPM, you need to go with a 20pitch. I'm going to say it likely is not the J-Plate.
  16. What RPM's are you pulling? Generally a change in pitch by 1 degree adds or decreases RPM's by 300 or so. Each motor is unique, another 125 Merc might require a different pitch prop than yours. I found this out when I banged up the prop on my Yamaha 60HP 4 Stroke. I had to actually check my prop to find it's number and it was indeed different from other 60HP Yammies in the showroom. Trim down all the way when you want to blast off, then gently raise trim as you get on plane. I had 4 people in my boat last week and it really didn't take a great deal to plane.
  17. Whittler, that is another excellent point. Not to discourage young guys but as a custom tackle shop owner, I don't like to think that any demands I put on younger staff will affect their school/home responsibilities.
  18. The bottom line here is this: Some anglers feel that just because they like to fish, occassionally catch a fish, maybe even win a tournament or two, they are entitled to some sponsorship deal with a company. HOGWASH! If you can market yourself, actually spell sponsorship correctly, you are on your way to perhaps getting your foot in the door if you make the right decisions. Coming on a website and asking to get sponsored in an open forum is not one of those correct decisions.
  19. I think Weakley's bass has deflated the record. It seems it is a matter of when, not if it will be broken. Who would have thought that a largemouth frame could even carry 25lbs.
  20. I think the interesting thing here is the IGFA's reluctance enact some type of standard for documentation for the earlier records. They should take the lead what several states have done in excluding or making unofficial records for fish that lack proper documentation standards. Floridas Fritz Friebel caught and held not only the Florida state record but the World Record with a 20lb + bass in the early part of the 1900's. Lack of documentation has excluded his catch as being the official record...it is on the books with an asterisk...as Perry's fish should be. There are several 20lb Florida fish that have suffered the same fate. In fact the Florida record in only 18+lbs. I know of bigger fish that people just don't feel the need to claim. What the heck is a Georgia dorsal fin? If that wasn't a joke, it was likely a Florida strain bass Perry allegedly caught. At least now we know it is just a matter of time that this hoax is wiped clean of the books. 2007 will likely see the record topple. The coincidence that this photo has appeared just after there was much light put on the record...is.....um....a coincidence??? lol....it's just more of the same scam that started in 1932. Review the facts: Perry- no photo of fish, no photo with him holding a fish bigger tham 13lbs....and we all saw that fish and know it was smaller Jack Page????? Who was this witness, where did he go and why was there no listing of him residing in Georgia when it was claimed he did? The B.A.S.S. lie detector test...Perry refused to take it. Perry extorting baits from Creek Chub claiming he would exchange a photo of the bass for them....never happened...cause there was no photo. I caught it on a wigglefish, um a shiner, um I meant a moss mouse....errr....uhh......what baits will I get for free????? . Either this guy was senile or a big liar. I'm going with #2 To his credit, Perry didn't start the ball rolling for the Record, the Magazine did. He also didn't really capitalize off of it so in a sense, why the big facade? Don't know. Holes, holes, holes.....this story should have been buried a long time ago. Sorry, just venting as this makes me crazy.
  21. So...75 years for the photo to surface? Gee...I wonder why it surfaced in the age of computers and PHOTOSHOP! ding, ding, ding....we have a winner. The photo is nice but after all these years???? If I was under scrutiny and been called a liar for decades, it might have been a priority to clear my good name by producing a photo I said I had....oh, in 1940 or so. Sorry guys, the WWB was caught at Lake Dixon this year by Mac Weakley.
  22. Cali, there are just so many guys I've met in the past 7 years or so who have relied on this bait so much that they have handicapped themselves by losing any versatility they had in their bass fishing approach. I'll be the first to admit the Senko is a fantastic bait but as Raul said, it is totally the magician, not the wand that brings success. Too many guys have lost their ability to know when to switch patterns or tactics due to changing conditions on the water. I fished 3 years in a club where it seemed to me that 95% of the membership fished this bait exclusively from Spring through Winter. I'm not bragging but I cleaned their clocks by being versatile and using different approaches. There is no magic bait....there are popular and hot baits but they change with the times.
  23. The senko is a great lure but it is singlehandidly responsible for retarding the learning curve of a generation of bass anglers.
  24. been down for a few weeks now

Bingo Matt. I'd also love to see a Trick Worm with about 5 cavities.
