  1. What do I need to do to wire my trolling motor, lights, and depth finder to one battery and have it kick if somethings wrong? After looking some more into it. It looks like I could just use a quick connect circuit breaker for everything. Would this work?

These are Lucky Crafts but I do make my own cranks to.
  3. Some are new and some are tweaked patterns.
  4. First, I just want to say thanks to Big M for helping me learn how to make balsa baits. Here is my version of a Charlie O: It has a very tight wiggle.

    Beautiful cranks Marty.
  7. Looking for some suggestions on a fish finder/GPS combo for my dad. He won't go over $1,000 but would really like to keep it around $700. I can get a discount on all of them so I probably can get a $1000 unit for around $800. He doesn't need a huge screen, just something that functions well. Thanks
  8. So what rod do you use when you FnF and how long of a leader do you use with it?
  9. I forgot to say my trolling motor is a 42# Thrust Motor Guide Pro Series 4300. It is a '05 or '06 model. Well I got a little bored, being snowed in and all, so I decided to do a little testing on my trolling motor. I filled my bathtub almost to the top and ran my trolling motor in it. And yes, water did go everywhere. I had the curtain closed though so nothing got in the floor. I was able to completely submerse the prop in the water. I went through all five speeds and it seemed to do just fine. I don't know what this means as compared to being attached to a boat but it ran in the tub. I hadn't tried the motor since it came off my dad's boat back in March '09. But more great news. The button you push to make the trolling motor go is now broke. I don't know what has happened to it. It doesn't click when you push it in. I had to just turn it on the continuous mode. So there is something else that needs to be fixed.
  10. Thanks for the pics. That looks great.
  11. My Motor Guide trolling motor only works when it is out of the water. The wires got crossed at the male plug and something must have burned up. I posted this on another forum and I was told it may be the circuit board in the head of the module shaft. Is this something that can be fixed by someone that doesn't no much about this stuff (me)? Or am I just going to have to send it off?
  12. Thanks, I was getting a little worried about the prices I was seeing on the internet. Now that's a good idea.
  13. What foam should I use for this and where can I get it? I've been looking on the internet and everything I find is really expensive.
  14. Stability was definitely what I meant when I asked for any potential problems. Thank you guys for preventing me from doing the deck. I would like the option of using it on the New River so safety and stability are definitely concerns. I think I'll look at removing the first and second row. Then I may put a thin piece of plywood on the floor to give it a flat surface to walk on. If I did this and maybe add a pedestal up front do you think that would be safe? I'll of course check out the stability before making anything permanent. Thanks guys.
  15. 1994 14' Aluminum "V" Bottom I got this boat about a year ago as a gift but didn't get to use it. I've decided to do a little remodeling to it to make it more user-friendly for my fishing. Basically I want to make it more like a bigger bass boat. I'll be using this boat on smaller lakes and the New River. Before Christmas I stripped it down and then it got cold on me. I plan to start working on it within the next week or so. I'm just trying to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with it. You can see there use to be three rows of seating. I'm almost positive I'm going to make a deck extending back to the second row and then make the third row another platform without a seat so someone else can stand there and two people can sit on it when using the bigger motor. I never sit while I fish so there is no need for seats. I also want to make a couple storage places in it. Preferably an area for tackle and another area that I can make a dry box. Some kind of livewell would be good too. In my college club there are a couple guys that don't have boats and it would be good if they could use it for our club tournaments. I have two options for a trolling motor. One is an old 34 lb thrust Motor Guide that I really don't want to use but it works. The other is a newer 46 lb thrust Motor Guide that has something wrong with it. It use to be on my dad's bass boat before he upgraded. The last time we used it the wires crossed where the plug connects on the front of the deck and it quit working. We fixed the wires and it started working again until we put it in the water. So it works out of the water but it shuts off when it is in the water. Any ideas on what's wrong with it? The bigger motor I have is an old 6hp Evinrude. This is what I have to work with so while I try to come up with some kind of floor plan please feel free to give my some ideas. Or if you see any potential problems with this boat let me know.
  16. I vote Mission Fish. I caught over 30 fish on one bait last year.
  17. About half way through the fishing season this past year I noticed my drag quit clicking when line was being pulled out of the reel. I didn't think much of it at the time. I finally took it apart to look at it and saw a piece was half broken off and when I touched it the thing completely fell off. Does anybody know the name of the part and where I can get another? Here is where it broke off of: This is the piece that broke off:
  18. I'm going to order some of the weighted Blade-Runner swimbait hooks for the 4" Basstrix Extreme Vibration Swimbait. Just didn't know what size hook fits them better.
  19. I'm with Fin@tic on the size, although there is a local, small lake where smallmouth love this little thing. I look forward to trying the 5" though.
  20. I'll add a soft jerkbait to the mix. It's a very versatile bait and shines for me during the spring.
  21. Just seeing if anyone else on this forum is using this rod. I wanted to try this series of rods and wanted to get something to throw medium diving cranks. It isn't here yet but I was just wondering what its limitations are and what you guys are throwing on it. I know its rated for 3/8 to 3/4 oz.
