Leader For Stopping Bite Offs From Pike?
Consider American Fishing wire's Surflon Micro Supreme - Ties very easily and has a thin diameter for it's rated strength. Comes in a mello Camo color that I prefer. Some of the lakes I fish, the bass / pike ratio is 50/50 so depending on the time of year and technique, bite offs are a reality. Last season I was losing jigs on deep grass lines every trip. Finally broke down and started to use this and that put an end to the lost baits. Where Pike are prevalent, I use it for just about every method including, Frogs, spinnerbaits, Texas rigged Anything, Carolina rigs, lipless baits if ripping through weeds and as mentioned jigs. My largest pike the past two seasons came on jigs fished deep for bass in timber. Both inhaled the little 1/2 jig and without the wire I may not have landed then. I use the 20 and 26lb stuff and don't believe that it keeps bass off at all. I'm still getting all the bass bites I was without the wire, I'm just not feeding baits to the pike anymore. It's a little pricey but it's cheaper than replacing baits all day. Good Luck A-Jay http://www.americanfishingwire.com/smsupreme.asp

There ya go - good for you. So now - consider this point in your training as your base line. (Not the pinnacle of your abilities) This is the point that you will never allow yourself to drop below - ever. You are now on the right track to a life time of good health for which there are many benefits and they are All Priceless. And to keep you motivated - (I think you mentioned this is a previous post), The initial run test to be eligible for Ranger training is a pass/fail sub 40 minute 5 miles. And that's just to get into the program . . . . . . . Good Job Man. A-Jay

How Bad Do You Want It - Baseball
For me, Summer is just not Summer without Baseball. There's a game every night (almost). I've been a big fan my whole life. Opening Day is a Big Deal - btw - the video was OK - watching it, I was immediately reminded just how diminutive Dustin Pedroia is. And that makes his high level of ability and play even more amazing. A-Jay

Worm Weight
I've used the tooth pick and the bobber stops in the past and they work. More recently I've been simply tying a short 3 or 4 wrap Uni knot around the line in front of the weight. Works nicely. If the hole in the weight is too large where the knot would slip right through the hole, I put a small bead in front of the weight. Old Braid is the material of choice, like 50lb is good, and I Double the line when I tie it for a very secure hold. A-Jay

Fenway Blazing A Trail
Really sorry to hear about your ST B - We had a very similar experience with a 14 month old Malamute - "Bear" was a Rock Star of a dog but went Grand Mal right out of nowhere - still makes me sad. Any way - there is never a good time for a puppy so you should get one now ! And we Always get 2 - so they have buddies for life. As for names - you're on your on there - that is sometimes the hardest part of dog ownership. A-Jay
