Working to Stay Lean ~
Switched this one up a bit. Started with a Leg Extension / Leg Curl Super set. Then did a Step Back Lunge where I added a 3rd plate under my front leg for more range of motion. Finished off with calf raises. A-Jay

Deep cranking without specialty gear
Depends quite a bit on the baits you throw. Heavy large billed deep divers will tell you right away if your gear selection is something your comfortable with and can be demanding on angler and gear. Smaller baits require less from both. I prefer slow reels, long MH moderate rods and 12 lb FC. Unless the fish are giants then the rod & the line get heavier. A-Jay

A-Jay's 4th Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Sunny & warm today almost 60. I'm going with Glorious. Took advantage of a warm garage to load everything into the Pro-V Bass. Sticks went in last and man, did that feel good. Slipped the cover back on her and now . . . . . we wait. A-Jay

First moving bait after ice out..
Unfortunately I have no experience trying feed them to green bass in cold water. So I can not offer an answer I feel confident in one way or the other. A-Jay

What can’t the red eye shad do?
I got nothing. 3/4 oz Sexy Shad RES got my PB so it's in my Hall of Fame. A-Jay

What can’t the red eye shad do?
What can’t the red eye shad do ? I don't think they can tie an FG knot or do calculus. But then again, neither can I. They can catch some bass though . . . . A-Jay

Why do you fish?
May be hard to but it ALL down in words. Perhaps first & foremost, is that it's one of the very few endeavors in my adult life that truly makes me feel like a kid again. I like that feeling. The rest of it might be summed up nicely in the pic below . . . . Fish Hard . . . A-Jay

Jerkbait to find them. And a vibrating (or hair) jig once I do. A-Jay

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
It's all good. If anyone needs to apologize it's me. And I certainly do. Disagreement isn't disrespect, until it is presented that way. I know better. A-Jay

Best Time to Buy New Boat???
Guess I'm the odd man out in this one. IMO, when a basshead truly has the means, 'The Best' time to buy a new boat, is when YOU are ready to. That said, shopping and doing the do diligence to ensure one gets into the right rig, is no doubt, a solid plan. If that's the deal, then now's the time. Considering what this entire venture costs, how much are the months/years spent 'waiting for the right time' worth vs the actually $$ saved ? The new & used bass boat market is all over the place. Seems it always has been. Plenty of sellers and plenty of buyers. ALL the buyers feel that ALL the sellers are asking too much and ALL the sellers feel like ALL the buyers want to pay too little. The current challenges associated the accessories inventory & availability isn't helping. And yet, somehow folks still get new rigs every year. Hope is a valuable thing, but it might not be the best strategy. Go buy a boat & go fishing. A-Jay

What got you "started" on your favorite brands? Nostalgic story time
What got you "started" on your favorite brands ? My "favorite brands" have changed or I suppose, sort of evolved over the years. Along the way there was a good bit of trial & error. Looking back, I attribute most of the disappointments to my unwillingness to adhere to two basic premises. "Quality is never an accident, it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives." "The Bitterness of Poor Quality Remains Long After the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten” After experiencing a little bit of both ends of the spectrum, I've come to believe the above and allow it to drive much of my decision making matrix. End result, I'm much happier. A-Jay

Chemically sharpened vs cutting point hooks
Love Owner & Gamakatsu offerings with some VMC and Mustad use here & there. I have & use Trokar some but their use is limited for me. That 'knife edge' makes short work of my soft plastics. Probably just me but either way, if I'm Tex-posing anything, Trokar never gets the nod. A-Jay

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
Sounds Good and I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. Perhaps keep in mind that one of the more attractive characteristics of Tatsu revolves around durability & longevity. IME it stands up to the rigors of being cast, hard, over and over without breaking down very quickly. Not something I have found with some of the other FCs I've tried. So give some time. Of course if you dislike it from the git go, then most all of that goes right out the window. But frankly, when given a fair & unbias opportunity based on the lines performance alone, I can not see that happening. Good Luck A-Jay

Chatterbait colors
I do not. The Zako is my preference for a sort of 'do nothing' type trailer. I'm looking for a 'profile' mostly here. It's what IMO make it so good on the vibrating jig. It doesn't fight or compete with the blade thus jacking up the action. That said, hanging it on just about anything else that doesn't have it's own action, like a plain jighead, might mean the Zako wouldn't be doing a whole lot. A-Jay

Chatterbait colors
Between water temp, color & turbidity, sunny, over cast & even just low light, it's so hard to know from day to day what the heck they will respond to. At least for me it is. I'm trying to have my bases covered. And this is what it looks like when I get it right https://youtu.be/zIqCmH_52IQ?t=387 A-Jay

Flat sided crankbait craze - options and experiences?
The 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Crankbait has been catching bass for me for many years. Added the OG Slim this spring, so we'll see how that goes. A-Jay
