  1. While another extended period of accumulating snow, sleet, and freezing rain is sliding across northern Michigan today, it's just about That Time. With 6 weeks and a wake up until this years 'open water guess date', the time has come to start looking ahead to see just what these extended weather forecasts have in store. Clearly the hope is whole lot less of what we've been getting, and just about anything else; as long as it includes warm rain and night time temps above freezing. That's almost always the magic sauce. No doubt the weather roller coaster ride will continue, and we've had our share of snow in April & even May here, but I sure would appreciate a little cooperation from Old Man Winter. A-Jay
  2. Doing the best I can with what I've got. Dumbbell Row ~ High Cable Row Under Grip Pull-Up ~ Dumbbell Curl Off Day Tomorrow #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  3. No Doubt ~ Sure seems like it's fixing to get quite a bit worse before it gets any better. What are the chances 10 lbs or less win both the Knockout Round and perhaps even Championship day ? ##lockjawbass A-Jay
  4. Day two for Group B ~ Alton Jones is leading the way and Ott DeFoe is riding the Toro Cut line to start this one out. Lines in is coming up. Weather is looking like a healthy dose of everything, except sunshine & nice. Might not inspire much of a bite from the Florida Bass population on Lake Fork. Every bite will be big, almost always is. 5. AND THIS is why I never use Shallow spools. #deepspoolsrule A-Jay
  6. I run mono or FC leaders for jerkbaits on spinning gear. 8 or 10 lb mainline braid and match the leader to that. I get a few. A-Jay
  7. A messy mix of wintry weather is on the way to Northern Michigan over the next 36 hours. The first wave of snow, sleet and ice will arrive later this evening. The next wave of snow, sleet and ice will arrive Tuesday afternoon and evening. Significant ice accumulations are possible which could cause power outages, tree damage and very hazardous travel. I'll not be doing of that. A-Jay
  8. X2 ! My brother from another mother A-Jay
  9. Several good sticks from Group A didn't make the Toro Cut line. But a bunch of Hammers did ! Group B is up next and seems to be in for some lousy conditions. And the Knockouts might be worse. Does it even matter though ? They might all be fishing for 2nd at this point. Thanks to #jacobthegiant I'll be watching A-Jay
  10. Push Workout this morning. Dumbbell Bench Press ~ Dumbbell Overhead Shoulder Press ~ Triceps Cable Kickback ~ Modified Leaning Press ~ Enjoyed this one. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

  12. @Darth-Baiter For me, any time I'm pinned to an over-size creature with undersized gear, it Always starts and ends with 'having a plan'. I need to know what to do and perhaps more importantly - when. I've lost a few bigguns' but I've probably landed more than I've lost. From the hookset, to playing the fish and finally landing the fish, whatever that process is going to be for you, be ready to do it - every cast. Some bassheads use the drag exclusively, some engage free spool and thumb it; either way being seriously out gunned is a fairly helpless feeling. But with some fore thought & patience we can help tip the odds to our favor. Unfortunately, the learning curve can be pretty steep as you seemed to find out. You'll probably do better next time. 15. Alton Jones had himself A Day ! 18 for 80 lb is strong. Cool. A-Jay
  16. In both my truck & trailer tires, when checking PSI, I've seen the tires sitting in the sun be considerable higher than the side in the shade. Something to think about. Accordingly, I prefer to check them in the garage. A-Jay
  17. That was quite a flurry at the end of that round. That little red crankbait is about to sell out. A-Jay
  18. I have to think it's a little hard for a trailer to know what tires are on it. I go with what the tires require. Always prefer the tires to be able to perform at their best and to be able to safely carry the top end of the tires load rating. Max PSI is the only way to do it. Anything less - is less. Checking them (COLD) prior to every trip is a solid practice. A-Jay
  19. I've got the Bullnose rudder mounted on a Minn Kota 55 on the transom. (boat pic below) I'm happy with it's performance so far. Not a super dramatic difference in handling of my particular vessel. However, the boat does track better on a straight line and responds faster to turns. I believe when it's mounted on a smaller &/or lighter vessel, the rudder's affects would be more apparent. Like I said - nothing but good since 2014 A-Jay
  20. For me, it’s about the passion, the adventure, the chase, and the thrill of catching big smallmouth bass from the vast, pristine lakes of the north woods. Many of these Bronze Beauties have been roaming their deep haunts unmolested for 10, 15 perhaps even 20 years. I never know what the next casting is going to bring. And that’s the adventure that I’m always chasing. Hoping it will be that next memory that I can share & remember for the rest of my life. That’s what keeps me going. The motivation comes from within. No one can give it to you, but no one can take it away either. Fish Hard A-Jay
  21. Day one for Group B is just getting underway ~ Conditions are looking pretty decent. Sun and clouds mixed. High 71F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph Day one saw 40 over 5lbs. Could today be better ? #linesin A-Jay
